Background and Identification
This page is dedicated to the hard work done by students who have completed the iFixit Technical Writing Project. The iFixit Technical Writing Project is facilitated by our education team (EDU) and is used in over 90 universities internationally. Specifically, the Fast Fix project is a project geared towards repairs that are relatively quick to complete and don’t really have an overarching category. If you’re interested in learning more about the Fast Fix project or the Technical Writing Project in general, please visit edu[dot]ifixit[dot]com.
Fast Fix projects aren’t hacks. The difference between a Fast Fix project and a hack is that a hack temporarily solves the issue at hand, whereas a Fast Fix project provides a permanent solution through repair or replacement of a component. Some of our favorite Fast Fix projects include drywall repair, pool tile repair, and how to repair a zipper.
In addition to repair and replacement guides, Fast Fix projects cover how-to technique guides. For example, if you’re looking to mend a cactus, you may want to take a look at the How to Mend a Cactus guide. These how-to guides are more like skill guides and teach the user how to attain a variety of skills.
