With a land area of 655.78 km2 (253.20 sq mi), it had a population density of 0.3/km2 (0.9/sq mi) in 2016.[4]

In the 2011 Census of Population, the RM of St. Philips No. 301 recorded a population of 235, a -8.9% change from its 2006 population of 258. With a land area of 655.79 km2 (253.20 sq mi), it had a population density of 0.4/km2 (0.9/sq mi) in 2011.[7]

The RM of St. Philips No. 301 is governed by an elected municipal council and an appointed administrator that meets on the third Thursday of every month.[3] The reeve position is vacant while the RM's administrator is Frances Olson.[3] The RM's office is located in Pelly.[3]
