Bubur sumsum

Bubur sumsum is an Indonesian food made from rice flour cooked with water and seasoned with a pinch of salt until it thickens. bubur susum is served with palm sugar sauce and coconut milk to produce a delicious blend of delicious sweet flavors. Bubursumsum can be served warm or cold.[1]

So far, it is not known exactly where the bubur sumsum came from. But certainly, bubur sumsum is found in many parts of Java and then spread to various other regions even to neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Thailand.

The name bubur sumsum comes from the appearance of pure white pulp like bone marrow. Some opinions say if the marrow porridge is a symbol of simplicity because it is made from ingredients that are easily found around us. This is also said to be food that can be served to all people ranging from the lower to upper classes.

Usually, bubur sumsum is served as a snack or dessert. The bubur sums can be served as a daily snack menu or served at important celebrations such as baby's birthday and salvation day.

Regarding this porridge, there are most Javanese people who call it jenang and can be found easily in traditional snacks or traditional markets. In order to taste more appetizing, marrow porridge can also be served with other foods such as green bean porridge, black sticky rice porridge, jenang grendul, dawet and the like.
