Hyperdimension Neptunia/Characters
This page lists all characters in Hyperdimension Neptunia, the first game of the Neptunia series, and the tropes associated with them. Tropes specific to their portrayal in the other games of the series belong on the pages for those games.
CPUs (Hyper Dimension)
General CPU Tropes
- Bunny Ears Lawyer; Every single CPU is incredibly quirky. They also happen to be the most competent rulers of their respective parts of Gamindustri. Even Neptune.
- Exotic Eye Designs: All CPUs and CPU Candidates have a power symbol in their eyes when in HDD.
- Moe Anthropomorphism: Of various consoles.
- Physical God
- Really Seven Hundred Years Old
Neptune/Purple Heart (debuted in HDN1/Rebirth 1)
Voiced by: Rie Tanaka (Japanese), Melissa Fahn (English)
CPU of Planeptune in the first two games and their remakes, not the case in Victory and Rebirth 3 due to it being being set in a past version of Gamindustri.
- Amnesiac God: In Rebirth 1.
- Big Eater
- Bound and Gagged: How we first see her after a brief attempt at resistance to CFW Magic in the second game and Rebirth 2.
- Cry Cute: Happens to her frequently in the manga.
- Genki Girl: In her normal form
- Girly Run
- Heroes Prefer Swords: Uses Katanas, Broadswords, and Laser Blades. Ultimately many will see that Katanas Are Just Better; turns come up sooner, gun attacks become stronger, and Purple Heart only uses katanas regardless of what she had equipped as Neptune.
- Heroic Safe Mode: Neptune suffers from this after her attempt to get the other goddesses to help her fight Arfoire.
- The Heroine
- Hollywood Pudgy: Is referred to as being pudgy a few times throughout the game, mostly right along side her eating habits.
- In the Name of the Moon: One of Neptune's battle quotes involves this.
- Jack of All Stats: As Neptune
- Konami Code: Can occasionally be heard reciting part of this while using her first Limit Break, only to stop and decide that she has no use for codes anyway.
- Lady of War: Her Purple Heart personality.
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: After she falls from Celestia.
- Les Yay: Many scenes of the game have this between her and the other girls. Some of the bonus art included in the game has this between Neptune and Purple Heart.
- Moe: Called such by IF in one of the cutscenes.
- Mundane Utility: Transforms into Purple Heart just so she can ride a roller coaster. Nepgear and Uni lampshade it.
- My Sister Is Off-Limits: Says as much in one of her character info page quotes.
"Nepgear ain't never going to marry! I'm banning the idea forever!"
- She doesn't seem to mind Nepgear and Uni's Ship Tease though.
- No Sense of Personal Space: Apparently, Neptune doesn't mind hugging someone from the back.
- They were trying to capture Black Heart but got Noire.
- Paper Fan of Doom: Her DLC weapon is this.
- Ship Tease: Many of the official art has her doing this with Noire.
- Slap-On-The-Wrist Nuke: The CPU Neptune attack has her transform into a spaceship, fly out into space, and then has the scene zoom out to show the entire landmass you're currently on before firing off a Wave Motion Gun, destroying the entire thing. However there's a disclaimer down on the bottom of the screen:
- Split Personality: Neptune is a Genki Girl, while her alter ego Purple Heart seems to be more of a Lady of War.
- Though we find out even some of non HDD Neptune has seeped into Purple Heart by Megadimension Neptunia VII.
- Sword and Gun: Neptune seems to keep a sword and a gun on her, but we never see where she gets the gun.
- Excised in Rebirth 1 and all games after where she uses a sword exclusively.
- Totally Radical: She tends to use some 80's/90's slang such as "bad dude", her death cry of "I'm... outies...", and even "totally rad" at one point. She also has a tinge of Valley Girl in her voice. Keep in mind that she is supposed to represent Sega, who were all about being Totally Radical in the 90's.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Not her but her "CPU Neptune" skill from the first game.
- Wooden Katanas Are Even Better: Subverted gameplay wise, it's actually her very first weapon and she has much better ones that aren't wooden. However, Neptune has an odd attachment to them and considers them awesome in universe.
- Zettai Ryouiki
Vert/Green Heart (debuted in HDN1/Rebirth 1)
Voiced by: Rina Sato (Japanese), Tara Platt (English)
CPU of Leanbox in the first two games and remakes, as an avatar of the Xbox 360, represents the original Xbox in Victory/Rebirth 3.
- Actor Allusion: Japan-only. Shares the same weapon as Mikoto.
- Badass
- Determinator: Takes a lot of punishment before she finally is killed in the Conquest Ending of mk2/Rebirth2.
- Lady of War: As Green Heart, somewhat downplayed version in non HDD form.
- Pop Cultured Badass: Of all the goddesses, she's the one most in tune with memes, messageboards, and nerd culture.
- Blade on a Stick
- This Is a Drill Green Heart's spears transform into these.
- Berserk Button: She mentions one on her character info page.
"I don't know who it was, but whoever invented the fatigue system must be just a world class terrorist.
- Cosplay Otaku Girl: Forces Nepgear to wear her costumes in her ending.
- Cross Player: In the game "Four Goddesses Online", she is stated to play a male character.
- Detached Sleeves: Both of her forms wear outfits that have this.
- Gamer Chick
- Girls Love: She's not the type to go looking for it (IF in Rebirth 1 excepted), but she is definitely flattered to be on the receiving end of it.
- Hair of Gold
- Heavy Sleeper: When you see Green Heart for the first time, she's just waking up and goes back to sleep while IF was talking with her. A funny nod to the "Red Ring of Death".
- One of her default accessories in the Rebirth games references this.
- The Hedonist: Green Heart is not just a gamer girl but also a hedonist. Most of her blog talks about her recent parties and the banquets she had.
- Meaningful Name: "Vert" means "green" in French, and she's wearing green, which also represents the Xbox360 and later Xbox One.
- Mercy Kill: During the Conquest Ending route of mk2/Rebirth2, she requests Nepgear to finish her off with the cursed sword since she has no hope of surviving after the beating Linda gives to her.
- Onee-Sama: Nepgear points out that she is the one most like a big sister among the goddesses, and that it's rather ironic considering she actually has no real sisters. Vert explains that it's merely because she had to to keep the other three of them in line.
- Phenotype Stereotype: Blonde, Blue Eye, Busty American.
- Tall Blonde And Bishoujo
- The Other Darrin: Vert was replaced by Rom's English VA for a few games, due to Tara Platt not being available.
- The Nicknamer: She doesn't create them herself, but she picks up upon nicknames Compa assigns characters, and enjoys using them as a means to be less formal.
- Underboobs: She plays this trope straight. Neptune even refers to her as such.
- Yaoi Fangirl: When she isn't playing an MMORPG, Vert would probably make any guy who think she is an easy lay will be in for a VERY rude shock (namely when she wants you to bring friends).
- You Gotta Have Green Hair: As Green Heart.
Noire/Black Heart (debuted in HDN1/Rebirth 1)
Voiced by: Asami Imai (Japanese), Erin Fitzgerald (English)
CPU of Lastastion in the first two games, represents the original Playstation in Victory/Rebirth 3.
- Catch Phrase: Usually a variation of "Only does everything". A reference to how the Play Station 3 was advertised.
- Cosplay Otaku Girl: In one cutscene, Noire is implied to be one.
- Detached Sleeves: Both of her forms wear outfits that have this.
- Expy: Somehow, Noire really resembles Azusa from K-On!.
- It's mildly implied that the resemblance was what inspired her to learn how to play a guitar.
- Both Noire and Azusa resemble Kooh from Pangya.
- Faking Amnesia: She does this when she encounters Neptune as Noire, not wanting to reveal her identity.
- Glass Cannon: As Black Heart with the default Processor setup.
- Heroes Prefer Swords
- Lightning Bruiser: As Noire.
- Meaningful Name: "Noire" means "black" in French.
- My Sister Is Off-Limits: Like Neptune, she says as much in her character info page.
- Otaku: Noire is implied to be one.
- Royal Rapier
- Ship Tease: Many of the official art has her doing this with Neptune.
- Tsundere: Noire all the way, especially towards Neptune.
- White-Haired Pretty Girl: As Black Heart.
Blanc/White Heart
Voiced by: Kana Asumi (Japanese), Wendee Lee (English)
CPU of Lowee in the first games and remakes, represent the original NES in Victory/Rebirth 3.
- A-Cup Angst: Berserk Button is someone pointing out her flat chest.
- Badass Bookworm
- Blood Knight
- Butch Lesbian: Neptune calls Blanc this in her recruitment scene.
- Crack Pairing: Neptune suggests that maybe Blanc has a thing for Compa, just because Blanc was complaining that Neptune doesn't get upset over being insulted like Compa would.
- Detached Sleeves: Both of her forms wear outfits that have this.
- Drop the Hammer: Blanc's main weapon is a hammer.
- An Axe to Grind: The hammer turns into an axe when she becomes White Heart.
- Expy: Blanc is pretty much a white Vita. Which is now extremely hilarious now that the Play Station Vita is coming out.
- Fan Girl: Surprisingly, towards Falcom. She even asks for her autograph.
- Go Out with a Smile: During the Conquest Ending of mk2/Rebirth 2. After getting run through with the demon sword, she smiles and comments on how it hurts less than she expected, before breathing her last.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Don't her calm exterior fool you, she gets angry quite easily.
- Kuudere
- Lady Swearsalot: At first, she looks calm and collected... But it won't be even ten minutes into the game that you will find out that she doesn't shy away from spewing swearwords like an angry high school student... especially when angry!
- Meaningful Name: "Blanc" means "white".
- My Sisters Are Off Limits: Like Neptune, she says as much in her character info page.
- Most Fanfic Writers Are Girls: Her hobby is writing light novels, and one of her aspirations in life is to get the Gamindustri Amateur Writer's Prize.
- Nice Hat: Blanc in any incarnation save her initial HDD form wears a spiffy hat. She even got an even nicer hat to go with her NEXT form in Megadimension Neptunia VII.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: As White Heart.
Nepgear/Purple Sister
Voiced by: Yui Horie (Japanese), Christine Marie Cabanos (English)
- Affectionate Nickname; Referred to as "Ge-Ge" by most of the other characters
- Badass: To the point she can be even more than one than her sister. Played tragically in the Conquest ending.
- Badass Arm-Fold: This is how Keiji Inafune appears to Nepgear.
- Badass Bookworm
- Bare Your Midriff: Her Lilac mkII Processor does this.
- Beehive Barrier: Her Panzer Blade attack causes her enemies to generate one for every swing, just so she can shatter them all in the process of beating them to death.
- Big Word Shout: During her Slash Wave attack. "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
- Bishie Sparkle: Gets these a few times, notably when Uni asks to join the party.
- Catch Phrase: Her oddly-constructed "What the goodness?!"
- Clueless Chick Magnet: Pretty much every other girl on the team aside from Neptune express or generally indicate interest in her, either to be their little sister or romantically. She usually doesn't even notice, or assumes they're joking.
- Combination Attack: The only one who is a required party member for a majority of the combination attacks, the total number (including the DLC power up) being at 10.
- Duel Boss: With a few characters.
- Hair Decorations
- Evil Feels Good: A borderline example, when she runs Linda through with the Demon Sword.
Nepgear: "I should have done this a long time ago."
- Expy: Of Neptune
- Glowing Eyes of Doom: When you summon Keiji Inafune, his eyes glow before Nepgear delivers the final blow.
- Heroes Prefer Swords: Especially if you summon Keiji Inafune.
- Intimate Healing: IF decides to go this route to snap her out of it and get her to go HDD. Compa voices disappointment that she wasn't the one who got to get "Lovey-Dovey" with Nepgear.
- Leeroy Jenkins: Tries to take on a dragon at the behest of "Chika" and almost gets owned by it before being rescued by Cave.
- Lightning Bruiser: Both she and Nisa think she's a Jack of All Stats when she's really this. If you play her right, she's a good tank, dishes out damage harder than the rest, is a required character to all of the Combination Attacks and yet the Irony? She's a Game Breaker if you place her as a support role because she's the only one who can get rid of the Damage Cap allowing other characters to damage enemies beyond 9999.
- Lonely at the Top: In the Conquest Ending. By the end, she has killed all the other goddesses and united the world under her rule, and those of her friends who are still alive leave her after Arfoire is defeated.
Nepgear: "This is the dark path that I've chosen to walk alone."
- Mix-and-Match Weapon: As Purple Sister, she wields a rifle with a sword attached to it.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: In the Conquest End, she thinks of using the demonic sword to vanquish Arfoire, and ends up becoming the only goddess left in the entire world. Unfortunately the world is then headed towards destruction for if there is no competition, there can be no progress. CFW Arfoire even outright tells that to Nepgear.
- Otaku: Of machines.
- Shout-Out: Most of her skill is based on Temjin's weapons.
- Sibling Yin-Yang: While Purple Heart has a black dominant costume, Purple Sister has a white dominant costume.
- Stripperific: Her powered up costume.
- Took a Level in Badass: Starts off as meek, shy, and timid unlike her older sister. By the end of the game, she becomes the next goddess of Planeptune.
- Villain Protagonist: Becomes one in the Conquest End.
- Wave Motion Gun: Her Beam Rifle as Nepgear and the Inafune Beam.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Gets called out by other people on her actions in the Conquest End.
- White-Haired Pretty Girl: If you let her wear the Joshikousei costume.
- Wrench Wench
- Zettai Ryouiki: Same as her sister.
Uni/Black Sister(mk2/Rebirth 1/2 appearance)
Voiced by: Eri Kitamura (Japanese), Sarah Williams (English)
- BFG: Her weapon of choice.
- Small Girl, Big Gun
- Some of her guns imply that she's actually just making them look larger than they really are.
- Bare Your Midriff: In her power up Black Sister version.
- Boring but Practical: Charley Horse! does no damage nor does it help guard break, but it will lower even a boss's avoidance so someone else can actually start doing damage.
- Bottomless Magazines: Mostly explained by her weapons being energy based, though some do appear to fire ballistic rounds, though this may still be in effect since she apparently uses her CPU power to replenish the ammo.
- Breast Expansion: Inverted. Turning into Black Sister causes her to flatten, and this actually gets brought up by Nepgear at one point.
- Turns into a Running Gag in later games, much to her consternation.
- Camera Abuse: One of her skills kicks the camera and shuts it off. It's used to lower the accuracy of enemies.
- Expy: Of Noire.
- Gangsta Style: Averted most of the time, Uni does use proper gun discipline, but justified for her gun as Black Sister, since due to it's sheer size and the fact it's basically the love child of a rail gun and plasma cannon, she'd have to hold it sideways to discharge most of the recoil without her aim being too badly affected.
- Generation Xerox: Hers and Nepgear's interactions in the second game are much like how Neptune and Noire's interactions went.
- Gun Nut: Her and K-Sha can be found discussing various gun modifications in Megadimension Neptunia VII, and it's noted she has as much love for guns as Nepgear does for mecha.
- Hair Decorations
- I Call It "Vera": Her "Unigunov" weapon in Megadimension Neptunia, since she designed it.
- Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy: Some of her attacks involve spraying ammo everywhere, with so-so accuracy at times.
- One of her attacks is essentially emptying a full magazine while pivoting in tune with the recoil to make sure all the bullets fly in a 45 degree angle arc. While a sensible tactic, the horrid accuracy is reflected accurately by the attack missing at least a full third of the aimed rounds anyway.
- Irony: Nepgear may be the mecha geek, but it's Uni who winds up befriending mecha based entities like CFW Brave in the second game and later Steamax in VII.
- Love Confession: In her character info quotes, and surprisingly short and simple.
"I love you Nepgear."
- Mega Twintails
- More Dakka: Her better attack combos pile on the fired rounds.
- Named Weapons: After you kill Brave The Hard for the final time (that is, in the True Ending), Brave powers up her Black Sister weapon and gives her the Brave Cannon.
- She even gets a gun on Megadimension Neptunia VII called the Unigunov, called such since she designed it herself.
- Stripperific: As Black Sister
- Swiss Army Gun: While the gun itself doesn't change it's entire appearance to do so, she can convert any of her weapons to switch between laser and ballistic weapons firing modes, as well as switching from assault rifle to shotgun to grenade launcher/recoil-less rifle firing modes during her attacks.
- Tsundere: Towards Nepgear.
- White-Haired Pretty Girl: As Black Sister.
Ram/White Sister(mk2/Rebirth 1/2 appearance)
Voiced by: Kaori Ishihara (Japanese)
- Bare Your Midriff: The De-ess Slight Processor does this.
- Black Magician Girl
- Expy: Of Blanc
- I Don't Want to Die: During the Conquest Ending. Seeing her sister cry and say how scared she is ultimately breaks her as well.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: RAM is a bit of a jerk to almost everyone save Rom, but she truly cares for Rom and everyone else, once she drops the attitude.
- Incredibly Lame Pun: "I may be small, but don't belittle me!"
- Nice Hat
- Palette Swap: The Pink White Sister. Averted as Ram, her hair is longer than her sister's.
- Red Oni: To Rom's Blue Oni.
- Rose-Haired Girl: As White Sister.
- Sibling Team
- Sibling Yin-Yang: Pink themed, outgoing and brash to Rom's inverted and shy blue theme.
- Theme Twin Naming
Rom/White Sister(mk2/Rebirth 1/2 appearance)
Voiced by: Yui Ogura (Japanese)
- Bare Your Midriff: The De-ess Slight Processor does this.
- Black Magician Girl
- Expy: Of Blanc
- I Don't Want to Die: During the Conquest Ending. When the time comes for her and Ram to feed their souls to the demon sword, she cries desperately and says the words exactly.
- Nice Hat
- Palette Swap: The Blue White Sister. Averted as Rom, her hair is shorter than her sister's.
- Blue Oni: To Ram's Red Oni.
- Shy Blue-Haired Girl: As White Sister.
- Sibling Team
- Sibling Yin-Yang: Blue themed, shy and reserved, where Ram is outgoing and pink themed.
- Terse Talker
- Theme Twin Naming
Makers
General Maker Tropes
- Moe Anthropomorphism: Of video game producers.[1]
- Overshadowed by Awesome: In most settings these characters would be considered fairly powerful. Only problem is they're working with a bunch of Physical Gods.
- This trope can be zigzagged in the second game and remake, where you have to rely on the Maker characters to do most of the fighting for a majority of the game, since over half the CPUs can be recruited at much lower levels, and if you go for the Conquest ending, they can pull off a dark twist on Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu? by helping to kill most of the CPUs.
- And is subverted at times when the CPUs are depowered or lower in level, in which cases they become Crutch Characters, and even when this is not the case the maker characters tend to have some redeeming virtues like a greater healing skill set, more elemental attack variety, or cheaper support magic.
IF[2]
Voiced by: Kana Ueda (Japanese), Kate Higgins (English)
- Affectionate Nickname: Commonly referred to as Iffy or Ai-chan, depending on game region. She even endorses these nicknames, being less awkward to say than her actual name.
- Badass Longcoat: IF wears one.
- Bifurcated Weapon: IF's weapon looks like some Wolverine Claws with guns attached to it. It's also the only way she shoots at enemies. This was excised in the Rebirth games, where she sticks with blades exclusively, and in the animation where she uses small handguns instead.
- Chick Magnet: With all of the Les Yay in the game, it's somewhat surprising that a lot more of it involves her than Neptune. Unless the character in question is Vert or 5pb she's not amused by this.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Comes up both in Chirper events and her character info page quotes.
"I won't give Compa to anyone!.... Sh-She's my best friend."
- Combination Attack: Aside from Nepgear, she also gets one with Compa. It looks like Weiss and Janus' Hazard Strike on crack.
- Deadpan Snarker: This is about a third of IF's dialogue due to feeling like the Only Sane Woman compared to her teammates.
- Defrosting Ice Queen: Is outwardly cold to Neptune and Compa upon first meeting them, but gradually warms up to them as the game goes on. This is even reflected in her S-Rank quotes.
IF (early in the game): As expected. Not worth celebrating, but... nice.
IF (towards the end of the game): No way... am I dreaming? Awesome, we're so awesome! Yay!
- Toned down somewhat in Rebirth 1, where the warming up period happens somewhat faster.
- Fan Girl: IF states that she is a fangirl of 5pb. In the original Neptunia and Rebirth 1, she was one for Vert.
- Impractically Fancy Outfit: Her sleeves are a bit too long and get in the way of the built in guns to her Qatars and Claws. She may point this out, or scold you for just not noticing this problem, while using gun attacks.
- Downplayed in the remakes, where it's stated she prefers to buy her coats oversized to hide her bladed weapons, though the outfits still look fancy yet ill fitting in animations.
- In-Series Nickname: Iffy. Ai-chan (As in the "I" in IF) in Japan. Not exactly happy with it.
- Jack of All Stats: More so than Neptune as she also brings in a decent amount of healing capabilities.
- Knowledge Broker: Her excessive supply of cell phones is not just for show, they're used to keep in contact with The Guild across all four worlds.
- The Lancer
- Not So Stoic: While she'll try to keep things serious, she'll go into a Heroic BSOD over her phones breaking or start blatantly Breaking the Fourth Wall when pushed too far.
- Only Sane Man: While she has her own oddities and quirks, she's basically this to both Compa and Neptune.
- Pay Evil Unto Evil: In mkII the Guild's primary activities are, as Nepgear quickly points out, "pretty wicked". It's okay though, because lately they've chosen to target criminal syndicates instead.
Nepgear: That reminds me, I wanted to ask what your organization actually...does.
IF: Espionage, generally. Acquire confidential intelligence from other nations, spread misinformation to stir up politicians, or sometimes...
Nepgear: That all sounds pretty wicked.
IF: Don't get the wrong idea. We've only handled criminal syndicates lately.
- Power Trio: Her, Neptune, and Compa.
- Supporting Leader: Right from the start she points out that it's actually Neptune joining her. She's the one with all the connections and she's the one that figures things out, but she tends to let Neptune and Compa stay in the spotlight. Though the DLC quests for new characters focus quite a bit on her, Neptune and Compa receive a passing mention at best.
- Straight Woman: In one of the Chirper events, Neptune tells her that she can "take the role of the straight-faced punchline chick."
- Amusingly inverted if you check out the comments on her special attacks, which reveal they were all dreamed up after what must have been a Dungeons & Dragons game session.
- Team Dad
- Too Many Belts: IF's design looks like she has a ton of belts on her clothes.
- And neck collars for everyone!
- She's only got two, three if you count the collar. One for her pants and one on her coat to hold her nine cellphones. Admittedly, the cuffs of her coat do look a bit like belts, but they're not.
- Transparent Closet: After Compa's Chick Magnet moment, Nisa calls attention to this, claiming that the closet door just opened. Nepgear is the only one that seemed surprised, everyone else just finds it completely adorable and immediately shift to topic to wedding plans while she repeatedly insists she meant to say something else.
- She becomes incredibly irritated and depressed, to the point of running off, when Nepgear asks Compa who she likes more, Neptune or IF.
- There is so much lesbianism in the series IF's refusal to be honest about her own becomes a Running Gag.
- Tsundere: Type A. This is pointed out by name.
Compa[3]
Voiced by: Kanako Sakai (Japanese), Cristina Valenzuela (English)
- Armor-Piercing Slap: Compa delivers one as one of her normal attacks.
- Badass
- Badass Adorable: Especially as a little kid.
- Deadly Doctor: She discusses with Nepgear how to use her syringe as a weapon. Nepgear is understandably worried.
Compa: "Besides, syringes are easy to use. You can whack, thrust, or inject something into your opponent."
Nepgear: "I wouldn't want to get a shot from the same needle after you stuck it into a nasty monster."
Compa: "I won't inoculate you. This medicine is just for bad people. If you give them a dose of this or even a puff of air, it's very effective at shutting them up for good."
Nepgear: "Th-That was a completely inappropriate comment to make as a nurse!"
- The Chick
- Combat Medic: Unfortunately she's also a Glass Cannon and will be among the first to die in boss fights. If IF isn't around, or alive, to pick her back up expect a Total Party Kill to follow soon after.
- Chick Magnet: Almost all of the party declares that they'd love to have her as a wife after they find out she's the only one among them that can cook. This actually causes IF to snap, leading to a moment of Stunned Silence.
IF: "S-Stop this stupid debate, everyone! Can't you see that Compa's all mine!?"
Nepgear, Nisa, Gust, 5pb: "..."
IF: "Tch, crap! N-No! What I meant to say was..."
- The Ditz: Compa gets rather spacey at times.
- Dojikko: Compa always seems to fall down whenever she is shown after a battle all the time. We do get to see a Panty Shot every single time.
- Girly Run
- Kill Sat: Her most powerful skill only obtainable via DLC.
- Improbable Weapon User: Giant Syringes that double as guns.
- Moe: Called such by IF in one of the cutscenes.
- Panty Shot: Compa has one as part of her victory "pose".
- Rose-Haired Girl
- Sweater Girl: As an adult and as a child, though the design is different in each case.
- Team Mom
- Zettai Ryouiki
Gust
Voiced by: Natsuko Kuwatani (Japanese), Cassandra Lee (English)
- Beware the Nice Ones: Will secretly take advantage of people trying to do so to her, while setting up legal ownership of concepts and items so that even if they catch on, she can sue them into oblivion if they try anything. Blackmails Vert about staying silent on her "Kichiku Megane Harlem Set for Virgins", especially to keep that info from IF as Vert fears that she would become incredibly disappointed with her. She also sells Vert a voucher to play an MMO for free, for 10,000 Credits.
- Exiled From Continuity: In the Rebirth games.
- Expressive Accessory: Her hat sometimes matches her expressions.
- Game Breaking Bug: Her revival skills have been known to not work right and just heal her, considerably lowering her use in battle.
- Hulk Speak: Unlike the first game, she's from a foreign country in this continuity, and Nepgear notes her "accent". This is actually downplayed compared to the first game.
- Optional Party Member: Both Nisa and Gust are, and with some DLC, they can become playable as well. Later on, 5pb and RED are also be playable.
- Simple Staff
- The Smart Girl
- Third Person Person: At times.
- Token Evil Teammate
- Verbal Tic: In the Japanese version of the game, Gust's desu-no. Where have I heard this before, considering who voiced Gust?
- What the Hell, Hero?: She steals and sells some of the Sisters' things. When they catch her and start to chew her out over it, she distracts them by bringing up who's selling for how much so they'll fight over who's more popular so she can escape.
Nisa/Nippon Ichi
Voiced by: Kaori Mizuhashi (Japanese), Michelle Ruff (English)
- A-Cup Angst: Her Berserk Button is someone pointing out her flat chest.
- Absolute Cleavage: Nisa dresses like this. Sans the cleavage.
- Actor Allusion: Nepgear's entire dream sequence where Nippon Ichi fights off against monsters with Nepgear and Uni[4] cheering her on. Nippon Ichi then feels that her body is becoming a lot lighter, but gets chewed on by a random monster.
- Kaori Mizuhashi is pretty much the best person qualified to voice a character based on Nippon Ichi, considering the fact that she has voiced a main character in almost every single Nippon Ichi game and is practically an unofficial mascot for the company anyway. Her credits include Culotte in La Pucelle, Laharl in Disgaea, Marona in Phantom Brave, Pram in Makai Kingdom, Hanako in Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories, Shauna in Soul Nomad & The World Eaters and Asagi in Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?.
- The Big Girl
- Dub Name Change: Her name was changed from Nippon Ichi to Nisa, to represent NIS America.
- Dynamic Entry: Justice Kick!
- Exiled From Continuity: In the Rebirth games.
- Flechette Storm: She throws a lot of knives at a group of enemies then throws a Prinny as the final blow. It explodes of course.
- Goggles Do Nothing
- I Can't Believe It's Not Heroin!: Underling's first impression of her is that she must be "high as a kite". Nisa doesn't exactly deny it, quite the opposite.
- Large Ham
- Optional Party Member: Both Nisa and Gust are, and with some DLC, they can become playable as well.
- Scarf of Asskicking
- Screaming Warrior
- Swiss Army Weapon: Prinny Gun. It's a gun and a Laser Blade.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair
5pb./Lyrica
Voiced by: nao (Japanese), Julie Ann Taylor (English)
- Bare Your Midriff
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: With MAGES. as the foolish one.
- Good Angel, Bad Angel: They debate over whether or not to eat someone else's sweets mostly.
- Headphones Equal Isolation
- Lady of Black Magic
- Luminescent Blush: She gets one when she finds IF watching her in one of the scenes.
- The Medic: The only character capable of healing the party outside of the Item Skills. As with everything she does, the Power of Rock is involved. Specifically suddenly being on stage, performing a short Instrumental version of Ryuusei no Bifrost.
- Defied in the Rebirth remakes, where healing skills were spread around a lot more.
- Not Good with People: While incredibly confident while singing or on the radio, at any other time she becomes incredibly timid and shy. IF intends to help her get over this problem.
- The Power of Rock: Her method of employing magical attacks, and her stats are skewed in favor of this over resorting to beating things to death with her guitar.
- Optional Party Member: With some DLC she becomes playable. Otherwise she's just seen on Hi-Five Radio, reading off what various NPCs have to say about the party after finishing quests.
- Required character in Rebirth 2, though this trope still applies in Rebirth 3.
- Panty Shot: The only character tall enough to have the camera look up her skirt while running around in dungeons unless you go out of your way to move it.
- The Power of Rock: Her method of employing Elemental Attacks, and her stats are skewed in favor of this over resorting to beating things to death with her guitar.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni. She is mostly the Red Oni to Cave's Blue Oni. Though in some aspects, notably the extrovert/introvert detail, they are reversed.
- Shy Blue-Haired Girl
- Sixth Ranger
- Stage Name: Her real name is Lyrica, though almost no one knows it.
- Stripperific: One of the few cases where this is justified, as she is an Idol Singer, and thus her outfit is supposed to be alluring.
- Strong Family Resemblance: To MAGES.[5]
CAVE
Voiced by: Mayuko Takahashi (Japanese), Lauren Landa (English)
- Badass Finger-Snap: Her final move on her Limit Break.
- Big Damn Heroes: Saves Nepgear after she went overconfident that she could take on a monster by herself.
- Bullet Hell: Her Limit Break where enemies are on the receiving end of it.
- Company Allusion: The other characters think that she must deal with Crowd Hell pretty often to be able to move so effortlessly through a crowd without touching anyone.
- Cleavage Window
- Everything's Better with Spinning
- Everything's Worse with Bees: Her 'Black Label' skill sometimes has her summoning a pair of mechanical bees to pelt the enemy some more after her initial barrage. No points for guessing what game this references.
- Game Breaking Bug: None of her equipment from the store is kept in your inventory in a New Game+, meaning you're going to be spending a large amount of credits to keep her geared through each playthrough if you intend to use her. You can get around this annoyance, somewhat, by using her DLC equipment instead. Defied in the Rebirth remakes.
- Girlish Pigtails
- Large Ham: Somehow her Power Walk, her flinging of her hair, and her Limit Break must be done with such ham for someone who's quiet. Kind of like someone actually.
- Nice Hat: WHich looks like a modified maid hat.
- Optional Party Member: In Victory/Rebirth 3 via DLC.
- Red Headed Heroine
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: She is mostly the Blue Oni to 5pb.'s Red Oni. Though in some aspects, notably the extrovert/introvert detail, they are reversed.
- Showgirl Skirt
- Stuff Blowing Up: A lot of her moves involve a lot of explosions.
RED
Voiced by: Kanae Ito (Japanese)
- Airplane Arms
- Be Careful What You Wish For: At "+100 Charisma", she'll get to have her "Hotel Event" with IF. The event she gets is being stuck sick in bed, while IF waits around for her to get better before joining the party.
- Brick Joke: Delivers one from Gust and her own at the same time. She eats IF's blanc-manger, and later sends her Blanc's Manju. After joining the team she gives IF a "Kichiku Megane Harlem Set for Virgins" because she notices that IF likes Vert and that Vert has one as well. After a brief moment of disappointment she just passes it off as RED mixing names up again.
- Crash Into Hello
- Harem Seeker: She wants wifeys. IF is Wifey Number 1.
- Genki Girl: In almost all of the scenes she appears in she tends to act like this.
- Genre Savvy: The game makes no attempt to hide that it's a game, so what's the best way to get wifeys? Add Relationship Values to the events she's involved in, bringing up the possibilities of both You Lose At Zero Trust and Level Up At Intimacy 5. It mostly works, she just doesn't get her "Hotel Event" with IF in the way she hoped.
- Improbable Weapon User: Yo-yos. Because there are legends of a hero who fought off aliens with one.
- Meaningful Name: In so many ways, including combined with Fun with Acronyms: Red. R: Red hair in an R shape. E: Her cup size. D: She has a dragon. She also refers to herself as the Royal Emperor Dragon when joining the party.
- Optional Party Member: Only appears in the game if you've got the required DLC.
- Sixth Ranger
- Skunk Stripe: Has a couple of these. One by her face, the other at the tip of the R in her hair.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Doesn't appear in later games in the original canon, since the company she's based on was bought out by a Chinese firm. Averted for the Rebirth remakes, when she reappears in Rebirth 2/3.
Falcom
Voiced by: Akemi Kanda (Japanese), Xanthe Huynh (English)
- Actor Allusion: Her voice actress voiced Estelle Bright, the heroine of another Nihon Falcom's famous franchise.
- Bare Your Midriff
- BFS
- Expy: To Adol of course.
- Game Breaking Bug: None of her equipment from the store is kept in your inventory in a New Game+, meaning you're going to be spending a large amount of credits to keep her geared through each playthrough if you intend to use her. You can get around this annoyance, somewhat, by using her DLC equipment instead, though this is defied in the Rebirth versions.
- Optional Party Member: Through DLC.
- Never the Selves Shall Meet; Defied in Victory/Rebirth 3, where they can do just that.
- Pen Name: Alod Christin (Adell Christine in Rebirth 2)
- Red Headed Heroine
- Sword Beam
- Talking to Herself; Literally in Victory/Rebirth 3, where her Hyoer and Ultradimensional selves can meet and fight together.
Tekken
- Combat Sadomasochist: Getting hurt in combat turns her on.
- Genki Girl
- Nice Girl: Very happy go lucky by default.
- Stripperiffic: Her default outfit, justified due to its condition.
Broccoli
- Brutal Honesty: Broccoli is very blunt.
- Do Not Call Me Paul: Neptune calls her Puchiko. Broccoli does not like being called that at all.
- Nice Hat: The cat ear like hat she wears, along with it's variants from her other hat choices.
- Wise Beyond Their Years: Despite looking like a child, Broccoli is very mature and levelheaded for her age.
MAGES.
- Cloudcuckoolander: While she is brilliant, she's also prone to making pretend phone calls to some nonexistent colleagues about a mysterious "Organization".
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: With 5pb. as the levelheaded one.
- Laughing Mad: While occasionally let go some impressive deranged sounding laughter in her menu voice commentary.
- Mad Scientist: With Magitek based inventions, but otherwise the same principle holds.
- Nice Hat: A wizard style hat with two gears wrapped around it's sides.
- Spell My Name with an "S": The period is part of the name. She even chides Neptune for leaving it off in Rebirth 1.
- Strange Bedfellows: With young IF in Victory/Rebirth 3, and to a lesser extent Nepgear, with whom she bonds over their shared love of science, though even Nepgear finds MAGES. quite quirky despite this.
- Strange Girl: Even self admitted as "mad", for reasons described above.
- Strong Family Resemblance: Her and 5pb. share the exact same beauty mark below the right eye.
- Troll: Loves to annoy Noire by calling her "assistant" and gets her kicks trolling Vert on Neppit.
Oracles
Histoire (Hyperdimension)
Voiced by: Mika Kanai (Japanese), Stephanie Sheh (English)
- Affectionate Nickname: Histy
- Badass - Is insanely powerful even at low levels when playable.
- Lady of Black Magic: Her skill set leans heavily in this direction, though she's not lacking in the White Magic department either.
- Big Good
- Great Big Book of Everything: Unfortunately it'll take three days for her to find the information needed in her, so it's better to just go out and figure things out without her.
- Our Fairies Are Different: She's also a book.
- Promoted to Playable: In Rebirth 1/2/3, as her HDN2 incarnation.
- Nice Hat: Becomes a plot point in Megadimension Neptunia VII. Her hat was the inspiration for Orange Heart's hat.
- Physical God: Can't do anything without the other Goddesses' consent though.
- Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: Possess this trait, as she is, before being an Oracle of Planeptune, the recorder of all history in Gamindustri, thus everything that happens is recorded by her in some fashion. In MDN VII, this becomes a Chekhov's Gun Since it renders her immune to the rewrite of Gamindustri that replaced the CPUs with the Gold Third. She knows this occured and was incorporated into the rewrite, but still remembers everything prior to the rewrite, which provides her the ability to get Neptune into the Basilicom on her own authority since no one else remembers her.
Mina Nishizawa
Voiced by: Sayaka Nakaya (Japanese)
- Badass
- Badass Adorable: Tends to be sweet and adorable. She's also a very skilled mage and competent fighter in her own right.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Rom and Ram are CPU Candidates, but if she gets mad at them, they are terrified. Rarely happens, unless they are being very rude or unruly though.
- Comically Missing the Point: After Ram and Rom are saved from Trick, pretty much the only thing she takes away from the situation is that licking someone can be a sign of affection. Nepgear honestly hopes that she was joking.
- Meganekko
- Nice Hat
- Promoted to Playable: Unlockable in Rebirth 2. Does not appear in Rebirth 3 in the story, but is unlockable via DLC.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair
Chika Hakozaki
Voiced by: Yuka Komatsu (Japanese), Michelle Ann Dunphy (English)
- Badass: She's basically a Vert clone skillset wise, with the stats to match.
- Drama Queen: Boy, does she go off for the stupidest reasons. However, during the Conquest Ending, she has a genuine reason to cry and scream.
- Hair Decorations
- Homoerotic Subtext: Seems to be waaaaaaaaaay obsessive with Vert.
- Were it not for her occasional denials this wouldn't even be able to be considered subtext. They share a bed, Vert knows her well enough that she can tell perfectly when she is or isn't pretending to be sick, and apparently Chika is usually more willing to play around during Vert's massages. Chika can also be seen grabbing Vert's chest while looking extremely happy doing so in the True Ending.
- Incest Subtext: Claims Vert and her are like sisters. See above to understand why this is in question.
- Promoted to Playable: In Rebirth 2 as a secret character. Unlockable in Rebirth 3 as a DLC character.
- Wingding Eyes: Gets hearts in her eyes whenever Vert is involved.
Kei Jinguji
Voiced by: Yuko Sanpei (Japanese)
- Badass Bureaucrat: Prefers the business world to fighting, but is quite capable of holding her own in a fight.
- Berserk Button: Breaking promises.
- Bifauxnen; You could be easily fooled into thinking Kei's a boy.
- But Now I Must Go: Decides to leave to Go on to other ventures after the second game.
- Promoted to Playable: In Rebirth 2 as a secret character, and in 3 as DLC.
- The Spock:
Kei: I'd rather not waste our precious time discussing the mythical creations known as emotions.
Mina: That's not a good answer. If you want her to open up to you, you need to open up to her.
Kei: Adult conversations consist entirely of valid logic and efficient syntax.
Ganache
- Affably Evil: He may be a jackass, but he's polite about it, going as far as to turn on the lights when he had Neptune and her party trapped because "total darkness" would be too cruel.
- Fan Boy: Of Lady Blanc. Or rather, a Mary Sue interpretation of her in Rebirth 1.
- Gadgeteer Genius
- Genre Savvy: When Arfoire shows up to make a deal, he knows not to trust her automatically.
- Hostage Situation: Conjures up something of the like for the Tech Expo, to make sure Neptune and her party go there quickly
- Shoot the Hostage: He outright says something regrettable will happen to the Expo attendees if Neptune and her party don't go there quickly
- Heel Face Turn: In the Rebirth canon, even he realizes the need to join forces with the good guys when The CPU Breaker goes haywire, and is later forgiven by Noire, whom he decides to work for in the ending of Rebirth 1.
- In-Series Nickname: Solicitor (IF) or "Mr." Solicitor (Compa).
- Jerkass: And HOW.
- Out of Focus: After the Lastation section of the first game. Doesn't make him any less of a douche. Averted in the Rebirth version, which expanded his role.
- Smug Snake
- The Chessmaster: During the time you spend in Lastation (read: half of the first game), Ganache himself states he's manipulated everything from the start up the the current point, from the moment he heard of the Console War.
- The Dragon: Of a manner, he could easily be seen as filling this role to Lady Black Heart, if one was to consider her a villain.
- Dragon with an Agenda Winds up becoming a straight up Lancer to her in the ending of Rebirth 1.
- The Faceless: Standard with NPC's of the game. Averted in Rebirth 1, where he has a face portrait.
- Willfully Weak: He was the founder of Avenir, however, he has the rank of a regular employee. This was all part of his plan however.
- Is a high ranking executive, but otherwise appliues in Rebirth 1.
Jade (original game character, does not show up in Rebirth 1)
Jade: I'm a member of the Guild. I live on Leanbox, but I don't follow Lady Green Heart...
Neptune: ...Why're you telling me now? What's up with this?
Jade: I... I'm into girls... like... Lady White Heart.
- grack*
IF: ...And that's that. You finished him off.
Neptune: Oops. Well, that was for ruining the moment.
- Great Escape: Breaks IF, Compa, and Neptune out of the prison they're in.
- Mr. Exposition
- The Faceless: Standard as an NPC
Yvoire
- Corrupt Church: Is the leader of it and it doesn't begin to describe him.
- To put things in perspective, he tried to get IF to poison Neptune, went ahead and did it himself, then arrested all three girls as "criminals". Jade later goes into more detail about Yvoire, going on about how he destroyed any documents pertaining to the purge of the Guild, refusing to acknowledge the atrocities committed.
- Rebirth 1 tones him down somewhat, though he still does most of the above spoilered, minus the document purge and Guild business in the Rebirth version, and he's much less important in the Rebirth continuity.
- Jerkass: Remember Ganache? Yvoire is a friggin' competitor for his title at this.
- Leave Your Quest Test: Gives IF an offer to become a Leanbox citizen, so she can worship Lady Green Heart freely.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Everything he does is for the sake of Lady Green Heart.
Villains (mk1/Rebirth 1)
Arfoire (Super Dimension)
Voiced by: Chiaki Takahashi (Japanese) Laura Post (English)
- A God Am I: Was a Physical God, gave it up, wants it back.
- In the Rebirth remake, she was mortal, had a hand in the creation of the CPUs, tries to seize their power to be one.
- Beauty Equals Goodness: Subverted given that even some of her shape shifted forms either hide most of her features or are ripoffs of actual good people. Her default look is basically Evil Is Sexy incarnate. In the True Ending, we get to see this trope be played straight, featuring a normal flesh toned Arfoire with grey hair, a gentle smile, and normal ears, still looking attractive yet not evil.
- Blade on a Stick
- Chewing the Scenery: One of her death quotes is "I can still... I CAN STIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL...!!!"
- Invincible Villain: Pretty much what can sum her up.
- Devil in Plain Sight: Ganache certainly thinks so.
- Digital Piracy Is Evil: The personification of this.
- The Dragon: To Overlord Momus. She actually made it all up. She's the Big Bad.
- Funnily enough, her true form IS a dragon.
- Dub Name Change: Magiquone in Japan, which is their equivalent of the R4.
- Evil Is Sexy
- Heel Face Turn: In the True Ending, complete with Good Costume Switch
- Mega Manning: Her powers. Appropriate, given she is the personification of game piracy.
- Nice Hat: Always some type of witch style hat.
- Not Quite Dead: Happens a few times.
- Omnicidal Maniac
- Paper Thin Disguise: Her "Coversation" guise has her exact same voice and mannerisms.
- Playing Against Type: BIG TIME for her seiyuu. Arfoire is devoid of all sympathetic virtues many of her roles, even antagonistic ones, though it's probably intentional.
- Shape Shifter: Can turn into a red headed NPC named "Conversation"[6] and given her powers, can morph into many other forms.
Criminals of the Free World/Custom Firmware (mk2/Rebirth 2 villains
Magiquone the Hard / CFW Arfoire {Hyper Dimension}
Voiced by: Chiaki Takahashi (Japanese) Laura Post (English)
- Blade on a Stick
- Invincible Villain: Pretty much what can sum her up.
- Digital Piracy Is Evil: The personification of this.
- Dub Name Change: Magiquone in Japan, which is their equivalent of the R4.
- Eldritch Abomination: In the True Ending she also becomes a Humanoid Abomination.
- Load-Bearing Boss: Due to being one with the Gamindustri Graveyard.
- Omnicidal Maniac
- Playing Against Type: BIG TIME for her seiyuu. Arfoire is devoid of all sympathetic virtues many of her roles, even antagonistic ones, though it's probably intentional.
- Red Baron: Deity of Sin
- Taking You with Me
- The Bad Guy Wins: Her reaction to being defeated in the Conquest Ending is to state this happens, just on a delay timer.
Magic the Hard / CFW Magic
Voiced by: Chiaki Takahashi (Japanese) Laura Post (English)
- Badass
- Badass In Charge: And it's why she leads ASIC.
- One Woman Army: Five goddesses (The four Hearts and Purple Sister) versus her. She curb stomps them.
- Came Back Wrong: In the True End, her desire to serve under Arfoire becomes a desire to ensure everything becomes one with her.
- Curb Stomp Battle: Artwork for the sequel shows her facing off against the four Goddesses, alone. The result would seem to be the four of them being captured and bound by Naughty Tentacles.
- The Dragon: She's this to Arfoire in the sequel.
- Evil Counterpart
- Evil Is Sexy: Much like Arfoire, she too has a revealing outfit that goes nicely with her puppy kicking deeds.
- Evil Redhead
- Eyepatch of Power
- Expy: To the first game's version of Arfoire.
- Fan Girl: The personification of this, being one for Arfoire.
- Most Common Superpower: Not a single one of the heroines surpasses the size of her rack. Not even Thunder Tits.[7]
- Psycho Rangers: If Magic's design is anything to go by, the Arfoire Syndicate of International Crime is this to the heroes.
- Sinister Scythe
- Stripperific
- Thanatos Gambit: She's rightfully confident that she would never lose, but just in case she ensures that her death only speeds up Arfoire's revival.
Judge the Hard / CFW Judge
Voiced by: Kenjiro Tsuda (Japanese), Kyle Hebert (English)
- An Axe to Grind
- Blood Knight: Goes nicely with his rage themed persona.
- The Berserker
- Black Ax Crazy Robot Dies First
- Came Back Wrong: Of the four, he's the only one not to. It helps that he was already completely insane.
- Creator Breakdown / Rage Quit: The personification of this.
- Eye Scream: This is how Nepgear, IF, and Compa escape him the first time they have to fight him.
- The Grim Reaper: As the personification of game creators giving up after poor sales, he's been designed to look the part at the very least.
- Psycho Rangers
Brave the Hard / CFW Brave
Voiced by: Kentaro Ito (Japanese), David Vincent (English)
- Anti-Villain: He might support game piracy, but it's for those who otherwise couldn't afford games to have fun with. In fact, of his allies, he's got the most noble intentions of them all.
- Came Back Wrong: In the True Ending, though as far as Arfoire's concerned he came back right as he's reduced to being a Blood Knight who no longer cares for children.
- Evil Makeover: In the True Ending, his color scheme turns red and black.
- Expy: A video game themed Gao Gai Gar.
- Flaming Sword
- Humongous Mecha: Has the appearance of one.
- Like a Badass Out of Hell: In order to ask Noire and Kei's permission to marry Uni. And then they wake up.
- My Death Is Just the Beginning: In the True Ending, he is reprogrammed to attack Uni and Noire. When defeated, he told Uni he will always be by her side, even if he isn't around, and uses his remaining data to create a new assault rifle for Uni.
- Perpetual Poverty: The personification of this. Specifically the resentment of not having the money to keep up with game releases.
- Noble Demon: As the personification of not having enough money to buy new games, Brave fights to protect children's joy, and doesn't want to see their smiles fade. He's like Santa if he were a villainous mecha. No, really.
- Psycho Rangers
- Token Good Teammate: Aside from his support of some underhanded means like game piracy, he's otherwise good at heart, and even the piracy support is for a good cause that even Uni agrees isn't entirely wrong.
- Worthy Opponent: Sees Uni as this and the feeling is mutual.
Trick the Hard / CFW Trick
Voiced by: Yoji Ueda (Japanese), Derek Stephen Prince (English)
- Affably Evil: If he weren't so amusing and pleasant outside of his obsession, he'd be a Complete Monster.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: He can do this to other people.
- Came Back Wrong: In the True Ending his obsession with children ends up becoming a love for eating them.
- Dirty Old Man
- Fat Bastard
- Insult Backfire; He considers being called a pervert a compliment.
- I Regret Nothing: Because he got to die at the hands of maidens.
- Last-Second Word Swap
I need to whip out my.... Sewing kit!
- Lolicon: Even Linda has trouble getting along with him because of this.
- One of the main reasons why the second game has a Mature rating is because of him.
- The game was rerated to Teen for Rebirth 2, but he's barely any different.
- Nintendo Hard: The personification of your reactions to this.
- Overly Long Tongue: That has regenerative powers, oddly enough.
- Psycho Rangers
Linda/Underling
Voiced by: Junko Minagawa (Japanese)
- Avenging the Villain: The final fight against her in the True Ending is because she wants revenge for them killing Magic twice, hoping that maybe she can kill them before Arfoire destroys the world.
- Bare Your Midriff
- Even Evil Has Standards: Linda is disgusted by CFW Trick's behavior towards Rom and Ram.
- Fan Girl: Some of her dialog implies that she's one for Magic.
- Goldfish Poop Gang: So much so that the game eventually stops bothering to make her a boss fight.
- Kick the Son of a Bitch: It's really hard to feel sorry for her when Sadie has her way with Underling in the anime, especially when her faked Heel Face Turn is discovered.
- In the Conquest Ending her death is the only one both Nepgear and the player can feel good about and was justly earned considering her actions at the time.
- Master of Disguise: Makes a convincing disguise as Chika.
- Moral Event Horizon: She actually gets a chance to cross it in the Conquest Ending. She is beating on a nearly dead Vert with the intent of killing her, and when called on it, states they have no right to complain since they were killing each other anyway, which doesn't wash as it was in pursuit of a very regrettable Save The World plan and required the The CPUs to kill one another to work, whereas Underling just decided to be a cold blooded bastard because she wanted to be.
- Not So Different: During the Conquest End, after she has beaten Vert to an inch of her life, the heroines state that what she has done is unforgivable. Underling's counter-statement is saying she just did what they were trying to do a moment ago, and that they should thank her. What she gets for that? A sword to the stomach, that's what!
- Not What I Signed on For: After Magic tells her that everything will be absorbed into Arfoire and tries to kill her, she realizes that Magic has changed and that things are more extreme than she first thought and bails.
- Quirky Miniboss Squad
- Weapon Across the Shoulder
- You Gotta Have Green Hair
Pirachu/Warechu (Hyper Dimension)
Voiced by: Neeko (Japanese)
- Dub Name Change: Was Warechu in Japan. Reverted back to Warechu in the English Rebirth games.
- Heel Face Revolving Door: Played For Laughs. Basically depends on whether Compa is in the vicinity or not. If so, he'll do everything from wavering on doing something bad to outright spilling his guts about whatever evil scheme is going on.
- Make My Monster Grow: Temporarily ends up completely massive and completely insane. Happens to him again in Megadimension Neptunia VII
- Only Sane Man: Probably the sanest ASIC member, with Underling and CFW Brave as close seconds.
- Panty Shot: One of his battle quotes is pointing out that from where he's standing he can see everyone's panties.
- Quirky Miniboss Squad
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: He is rather adorable, and his crush on Compa merely adds to it.
- True Companions: Even after Underling's begun to go off the deep end toward the end, and even after ASIC is ended, he tries to be the voice of reason for her and sticks with her even when she just won't listen.
- In the anime, he's this to Arfoire, who takes on aspects of Underling's interactions in the anime. Althougth their relationship still has them snipe at each other nigh constantly.
- Verbal Tic: It's chu, chump!
- Villainous Crush: Has a crush on Compa after she heals him.
- Back to Hyperdimension Neptunia
- ↑ Tekken is something of an exception, being representative of the Tekken series, since her parent company makes many series and thus Tekken was created to represent the creators of the series of the same name instead.
- ↑ short for Idea Factory
- ↑ short for Compile Heart
- ↑ Bonus points for her being Sayaka
- ↑ MAGES. is the parent company of 5pb.
- ↑ pronounced in the French manner
- ↑ For reference, the bust of Green Heart, the heroine with the biggest breasts, is sized at 93cm F-cup, then 95cm G-cup post-powerup. Magic's? 98cm H-cup.
