Portrait Gallery of the Palace of Shadows
The Portrait Gallery was a room in the Palace of Shadows. It was filled with the paintings of Most High Academes.
History
For centuries prior to -59 ᴇ.ʏ., whenever a new Most High Academe rose to office, they would have their portrait painted and hung in the gallery. This tradition was stopped in -59 ᴇ.ʏ., when the last earth-scholar High Academe died. The new Most High Academe chose not to move into the palace and instead stayed in their own school. It is unknown if they still kept up the tradition of portrait painting, but kept the paintings elsewhere.
At some point between 1 ᴇ.ʏ. and 15 ᴇ.ʏ., Linius Pallitax chose to revive the tradition and have his portrait hung there[1]. The gallery was destroyed by fire in 15 ᴇ.ʏ. when the Palace of Shadows burnt down.
Layout
The Portrait Gallery was located on the second floor corridor, close to the music chamber, kitchen gallery and Gift Chamber.[1]
The walls were wood-panelled, with the paintings hung at around eye-level.[2]
