Broadview, Illinois
Broadview is a village in Cook County, Illinois, 12 miles (19 km) west of downtown Chicago. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 7,932.[3]

History
Broadview was incorporated as a village in 1914.

Geography
Broadview is located in Proviso Township along the western edge of Cook County, at 41°51′34″N 87°51′15″W (41.859439, -87.854226).[5]
According to the 2010 census, Broadview has a total area of 1.78 square miles (4.61 km2), all land.[6]

New 2010 Census population figures show a population of 7,932, a decrease of 4% since 2000.[3]
At the 2000 census there were 8,264 people, 3,194 households, and 2,146 families in the village. The population density was 4,644.9 people per square mile (1,792.6/km2). There were 3,322 housing units at an average density of 1,867.2 per square mile (720.6/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 21.96% White, 73.12% African American, 0.16% Native American, 1.33% Asian, 1.52% from other races, and 1.90% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.93%.[8]
Of the 3,194 households 30.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.0% were married couples living together, 20.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.8% were non-families. 28.2% of households were one person and 9.2% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 3.19.
The age distribution was 25.4% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 10.7% 65 or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 85.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.8 males.
The median household income was $47,651 and the median family income was $59,568. Males had a median income of $36,919 versus $30,737 for females. The per capita income for the village was $22,178. About 4.8% of families and 6.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.6% of those under age 18 and 10.0% of those age 65 or over.
Education
Maywood-Melrose Park, district 89 and E.F. Lindop school district 92 operates elementary and middle schools.
Proviso Township High Schools District 209 operates public high schools. Portions of Broadview are served by Proviso East High School as well as Proviso Math and Science Academy in Maywood and portions are served by Proviso West High School in Hillside.[9]

Economy
Broadview is home to Mullins Food Products, Vanee Foods, Bosch, Perlow Steel, Windy City Limo and Garda Security Services. Within the Broadview Village Square, various big box retailers are located such as Target and Home Depot.
