Rave Master/Characters
Heroes
Main Characters
Haru Glory
Voiced by: Tomokazu Seki (JP), Yuri Lowenthal (EN)
The hero. Haru Glory came from a small island that's referred to as incredibly far out in the sticks and lacks knowledge of most any world history or geographical features. He's incredibly strong willed and noted for having a good heart. He was chosen to be the Rave Master who was to eliminate the Dark Bring.
- Always Save the Girl: Stab Elie or let her destroy the world... hm...
- Beware the Nice Ones: As the Oracion Seis found out.
- Big Brother Instinct: Though, technically, he's the younger brother.
- Bishounen: To a degree.
- Bully Hunter: Branch suffers a lot for harming Haru's sister.
- Calling Your Attacks: He always blurts out any change to his sword
- Cannot Spit It Out: He doesn't get to confess to Elie for thirty four volumes (she isn't in the first)
- And when he does confess, it's a Dying Declaration of Love.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: A large chunk of the manga's humor comes from stupid things that leave his mouth, but he's still the strongest character among the Rave Warriors.
- Cry Cute
- Curtains Match the Window: Somewhat
- The Determinator: Hell yeah!
- Disappeared Dad: Gale Glory.
- Dub Name Change: Not Haru himself, but rather the Ten Commandments, which becomes the Ten Powers.
- Forgotten Phlebotinum: He gets a sword form with gravity powers some time before fighting Doryu, a guy who can Won't Work On Me Haru's attacks thanks to possessing gravity powers. But does Haru even try using Mel Force? No.
- He actually does try Mel Force in his first fight with Doryu, but thanks to the power of attraction, Doryu was able to bridge the gape between them, this is made more impressive because this sword single-handily caused King's first defeat before going One-Winged Angel.
- How Do I Shot Web?: But he learns fast.
- Idiot Hero: It's not too extreme, but he has some pretty dumb moments.
- Instant Expert: Justified by the Rave of Wisdom.
- Justice Will Prevail
- Kid Hero: With a smile.
- Lucky Seven: Born on July 7 The same date as Lucia
- Made of Iron: Not that everyone else in the series isn't.
- Morph Weapon: The Ten Commandments, a sword with ten forms
- The Metal Sword—Eisenmeteor: The base form, a plain metal sword.
- Anti-Magic: Eisenmeteor's non-magical nature as a plain iron sword means it can't be affected by magic.
- BFS
- Boring but Practical—Because if every form had special powers, the wielder would have a hard time not tiring themself out.
- The Explosive Sword—Explosion: Explodes when swung.
- The Sonic Sword—Silfarion: Increases Haru's speed.
- Fragile Speedster: Makes Haru faster, but also lighter and more prone to being knocked around.
- Razor Wind
- The Sealing Sword—Rune Save: Can cut intangible objects, but not tangible ones.
- Anti-Magic: Its power to "cut what cannot be cut" makes it the ideal counter against magic users.
- The Double Dragon Sword—Blue Crimson: The sword splits into two blades, one of ice, one of fire.
- Dual-Wielding: Blue Crimson is the only two-sword form of the Ten Commandments.
- An Ice Person
- Playing with Fire
- The Vacuum Sword—Mel Force: Can create vacuums and blow away enemies.
- Gravity Blade—Gravity Core: Even bigger and heavier than Eisenmeteor.
- Awesome but Impractical: More powerful than Explosion, but too big to use easily.
- BFS: Even moreso than Eisenmeteor
- Solar Blade—Million Suns: A light-aligned blade.
- The Bloodlust Sword—Sacrifar: A dark-aligned balde.
- The Berserker: Seals all of its wielder's emotions except aggression.
- Casting a Shadow
- Dangerous Forbidden Technique
- Dark Is Not Evil
- Ravelt: The final form of the Ten Commandments.
- Full Potential Upgrade: Haru couldn't access this form until a Ten Commandments specifically for his use was forged.
- The Metal Sword—Eisenmeteor: The base form, a plain metal sword.
- Mr. Fanservice
- My Sister Is Off-Limits: It doesn't really stop Shuda, though.

- Normally I Would Be Dead Now: Lampshaded just a little.
- Purple Eyes: Grayish purple.
- Refusal of the Call: Because his sister forbade it.
- Royal Blood: His grandfather was the last king of Symphonia.
- Star-Crossed Lovers: Everyone says the relationship between him and Elie is doomed.
- Strong Family Resemblance: Looks nearly identical to his dad.
- Technical Pacifist: Oh boy.
- Theme Naming: Hiro Mashima's lead always has a season based name. His means Spring.
- Thou Shalt Not Kill: Though demons and Demon Lords don't count.
- Unstoppable Rage: Both when he uses Sacrifar and when Lucia almost kills Shuda.
- How can one forget how he went apeshit on the Oracion Seis after they beat his friends so gruesomely.
- White-Haired Pretty Boy
- Wide-Eyed Idealist
Plue
Voiced by: Yukiji (JP), Mona Marshall (EN)
Rave's bearer. Plue is a dog(?) with an unknown gender and age who travels with either the wielder of Etherion or the Rave (or both) and helps guide them. He doesn't do much as far as guiding them, but he does occasionally help either Haru or Elie when they're in a tight spot. He came dangerously close to being renamed Shabutaro by Haru and Cattleya.
- Attention Deficit Ooh Shiny
- Balloon Belly
- Extreme Omnivore: He's known to have eaten suckers, beetles, and a porcelain doll.
- Call a Smeerp a Rabbit: Or a fish, a dog, a bug, a cat, an alien, a water demon, and a snowman.
- Non-Human Sidekick: A dog...insect...WHAT IS HE?!!!
- Super Drowning Skills
- Too Dumb to Live: He frequently goes into water knowing he'll drown.
Elie A.K.A Resha Valentine
Voiced by: Ayako Kawasumi (JP), Michelle Ruff (EN)
The main female. Elie is a cheerful amnesiac girl who's just a little off and really likes bugs. She and Haru met in a racing track (a casino, in the anime) where she quickly fell for him because of his kind heart. She follows him around and is revealed to posses the ultimate magic, known as Etherion. She also bears a strong resemblance to Resha Valentine, who passed away fifty years ago, to everyone's continuous confusion which later turns out to be correct.
- Action Girl: She started actively fighting on her own the first time the team fought the Oracion Six
- Amnesia Danger: Had she retained her memories she could have wiped every villain from existence rather than been kidnapped by each and every one (save King).
- Apocalypse Maiden: But she's also the only thing that can stop the ultimate evil monster.
- Bare Your Midriff: Her most common outfit
- Blessed with Suck: Etherion, until she regains control of it.
- Break the Cutie: She's a heck of a lot more prone to tears after getting back her memory.
- The Chick: Her role in the band.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Plue deflated. Let's bury him, that'll help. He needs dirt.
- Cry Cute
- Curtains Match the Window: A cheerful brown hair girl with an active imagination.
- Damsel in Distress: At least once per Big Bad except King. By the fifth time around, she's gotten better at handling it.
- Extraordinarily Empowered Girl
- Fake Memories: In the anime she recalls being branded as a test subject 3173 in the middle of her talk with Sieg. There was no test subject 3173.
- Fear of Thunder: It's Sieg's fault
- First Girl Wins: And gets married and has a son.
- Genki Girl: A trope postergirl.
- Groin Attack: On Julius.
- Important Haircut: Resha does this when she becomes Elie
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: Having no idea who she is or how to use her magic doesn't stop her from reading a dead language.
- Meaningful Name: ELIE 3173. It's initially thought to be a test subject mark (humourously, the person who thinks this has a name that flips to make a number too) but is actually the coordinates for her empty grave.
- Ms. Fanservice: Until Belinka, Celia and Juilia came along.
- Older Than They Look: Whether she counts as around 17 or around 70 is up to you.
- Plucky Girl
- Single Woman Seeks Good Man
- Story-Breaker Power: Etherion.
- You Are Number 3173
Griff
Voiced by: Katsuya Shiga (JP), Tom Kenny (EN)
A strange blue creature originally recruited by Elie to help her and Haru reach the mountain they suspect a Rave stone to be at. He quickly becomes a member of the main cast, and is supposed to be very skilled at map making. His hobby is peeping on Elie. Every other character is better than him
- The Load: Invaluable as he is as a cartographer and navigator, he is completely useless in a fight.
- Lovable Sex Maniac: Or the not so lovable one.
- Non-Human Sidekick: Like Plue, we never learn what kind of creature he is.
- Normally I Would Be Dead Now: Being sliced in two does normally kill one. What kind of bizarre natural selection gives someone the ability to become two people after being sliced in two? What kind of bizarre natural selection makes anything like Griff, for that matter.
Hamrio Musica
Voiced by: Showtaro Morikubo (JP), Doug Erholtz (EN)
A silver claimer (someone who can manipulate silver) and former gang leader who teams up with Haru after reuniting with his grandfather. He a close friend of Haru's and one of the more capable fighters in the crew, wielding a spear. He eventually strikes up a relation with one of the Demon Card generals, but it didn't work out.
- Always Save the Girl: Inverted, and he's not happy about it at all.
- Badass: Until the Memory Retrieval Arc, then he's just a supporting character.
- Extra Ore Dinary: He can change the shape of silver (and later, any metal) at will.
- It was originally going to be Haru's power.
- The Lancer: To Haru, until Let and Shuda reduced him to the 4th wheel.
- Morph Weapon: The silver he carries with him.
- Blade on a Stick: One of his preferred forms.
- Sadistic Choice: Blow up your friends, or blow up the only woman you'll ever have a relationship with.
- Sarcasm Mode: Very often when talking to Haru
- Showtaro Morikubo: Not one of his more well known roles.
- Tall, Dark and Snarky: Especially after changing his hairstyle during the Shuda mini-arc.
Let Dahaka
Voiced by: Takehiro Murozono (JP), Doug Stone (EN)
Originally he was only interested in a challenging fight, and working for King as part of his Quirky Miniboss Squad in order to find them. Let goes over to Haru's side after being awed by Haru's pure heart and desire to protect the whole world.
- Anime Hair: Super Saiyan 3 style no less, until he became human.
- Adaptation Dye Job: In the manga his hair is white. In the anime it's blond, so that he could pass as Super Sayian Goku.
- Badass: A Dragon martial artist who can turn into a bigger dragon if it's necessary. Oh yeah.
- Blood Knight: He became a Lawful Good like the rest of the group, but still has shades of it.
- Dangerous Forbidden Technique: Several suicide attacks. He manages to use three. In a story with lots of death he's good at slipping around it.
- Elemental Baggage: Fire-breathing.
- Heel Face Turn: So obvious it doesn't even need a spoiler tag.
- Insistent Terminology: He's dragon race, not an alligator, and definitely not a human.
- Limited Wardrobe: Most of the cast is better about it.
- One-Winged Angel: A heroic one in which he crosses the Bishonen Line into the form he remains in the rest of the series.
- Noble Demon: In the beginning, he claims he's only traveling with Haru and co so he can study their weaknesses for the next time they fight. He grows out of this pretty quick though.
- Playing with Fire: His main elemental power and natural affinity.
- The Stoic: For a little while.
- Victorious Childhood Friend
- White-Haired Pretty Boy: Originally he was this
Ruby
Voiced by: Yukiji (JP), Bob Glouberman (EN)
A penguin(?) who inherited a large sum of money and giant floating casino from his late father. He's dismayed to learn he's been funding a criminal origination and ends up going to Haru for protection when he refuses to continue giving Doryu money. He becomes their first safe magic user after Sieg reveals he has the gift, but he's generally considered useless by the cast.
- Amazing Technicolor Wildlife: He's pink
- The Ditz: Yet somehow he masters magic.
- Improbable Weapon User: A bell
- Non-Human Sidekick: He doesn't look like a penguin, like a pig-bird at least.
- Rich in Dollars, Poor In Sense: He's not good at keeping track of his money.
- Talking Animal: A penguin?
- Verbal Tic: Poyo!
- And it's contagious. When the gang first encounters it several try to imitate it. At one point, even The Comically Serious Sieg uses it.
Julia
Let's polar opposite girlfriend. She spent a good deal of time stuck as a dragon under Jegan's control, but once she changes back she joins Haru's team. She's the most violent member of the team, especially when it comes to her boyfriend, but she also takes on a somewhat motherly role. She also really wants Haru and Elie to hook up.
- Action Girl: She beats the crap out of people a lot more than her boyfriend. And especially her boyfriend.
- Adult Child
- Badass
- Boobs of Steel: One of the best stacked and perhaps the toughest female in the series.
- Bottle Fairy: She once gets drunk enough to use wine bottle like a walkie-talkie.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: She spends a long time as a dragon under Jegan's control.
- Clingy Jealous Girl
- Cool Big Sis: To the Rave Master team.
- Cute Bruiser: More like Sexy Bruiser.
- Hair of Gold
- Hot Amazon
- Kiss of Death: How she finishes off Juria, with a fire breath right down her throat.
- The Ladette
- Ms. Fanservice: There's no way her first fight wasn't that.
- Playing with Fire: Like Let, she can breathe Fire.
- Rapunzel Hair: It never really gets long, but it grows pretty fast (Hiro Mashima didn't notice he was slowly drawing it longer and longer).
- Shameless Fanservice Girl
- Shipper on Deck: As stated above, for Haru and Elie.
- Taking You with Me: Attempted during one fight against an opponent who could turn himself into acid. When her regular attacks don't work, she resorts to throw herself and him out of the airship they were fighting on and tricks him into liquefying that he evaporates into nothing while she fully intended to fall to her death. Luckily a nearby dragon happened to show up and save her.
- Victorious Childhood Friend
- Wrestler in All of Us: Her style is more akin to grappling rather then martial arts that her boyfriend uses.
Belnika
A sweet, somewhat timid girl (she gets better) who underwent experiments in order to try and gain Etherion. They failed, but she acquired some powerful magic none the less. Her specialty is healing. She was duped into working for Hardner, but quickly switches to Haru's side after developing a slight crush on him.
- Beware the Nice Ones: She goes ballistic on Juria, one of the 4 Demon Kings.
- Blue Eyes
- Cursed with Awesome: Her magic was obtained through rigorous training that they heavily imply was incredibly painful, but her magic is pretty sweet.
- Curtains Match the Window
- Shy Blue-Haired Girl: At first.
- Yamato Nadeshiko: She's basically Rave Master's equivalent of Hinata (sans the crush).
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Except by the time she arrives blue hair is more common than brown.
Support Characters
Cattleya Glory
Voiced by: Satsuki Yukino (JP), Cindy Robinson (EN)
Haru's older sister and mother figure. She took over raising him after their dad vanished and their mother left to find him and came back in a body bag. She has little actual role in the series, but is Haru's initial motivation to train and it's implied that she may have forced a little of his nice personality upon him.
- Cool Big Sis: To Haru.
- May–December Romance: With Shuda.
- My Beloved Smother: You have to be pretty smothering to forbid the chosen one from saving the world.
- Promotion to Parent: After their mother died in actuality, killed by King and their father wandered the earth, she was the mother substitute for Haru.
- She actually does become a mother in the future, fathered by Shuda of all people.
- Strong Family Resemblance: To her Hot Mom.
Shiba
Voiced by: Tomomichi Nishimura (JP), Alan Shearman (EN)
Young Shiba: Koichi Tochika (JP), Steven Blum (EN)
The previous Rave Master. He was close to Resha Valentine, the creator of Rave, so when she gave her life or not to make them she made it so they'd work for him. He fought in the war against Dark Bring and failed to destroy the ultimate one at the very end of the battle, leading to Haru having to pick up where he left off fifty years later. He eventually fights Haru again, now thanks to a potion, he is at his prime. He still loses and dies due to its after effects.
- A Good Way to Die
- Animal Theme Naming: Named after a dog breed, the Shiba Inu, like the Knights of the Blue Sky.
- Badass Grandpa: Subverted as he becomes more of an Mr. Exposition by the start of the series.
- Died in Your Arms Tonight: When he is about to die he hugs Elie, having recognized her as Resha.
- I Was Quite a Looker: He really was.
- Go Out with a Smile
- Mr. Exposition
- Normally I Would Be Dead Now: He was actually supposed to die in the first chapter when a cannon shot him in the gut, but Hiro Mashima didn't want any deaths that early.
- Passing the Torch
Shuda
Voiced by: Toshihiko Seki (JP), Crispin Freeman (EN)
The first general of Demon Card that Haru encounters. He joined after Haru's father one of DC's founders got him interest, and has a tedious friendship with Gale. He helps out but doesn't seem to want to be included as part of the inner circle. He's also dating Haru's sister.
- Anime Hair: He's the Vegeta of this universe.
- Artificial Limbs: After he removes the real one.
- Badass: Becomes more so than both Musica and Let.
- Defeat Means Friendship: Though it's implied he changed sides more because he was already close to Haru's dad and sister.
- Disc One Dragon: Appears to be a Disc One Final Boss but then becomes The Dragon.
- Jerkass Facade: He becomes this after being defeated.
- Life or Limb Decision: It isn't really that situation, and he opts for neither, but it reminds you of one.
- May–December Romance: With Haru's sister, meaning he's his brother in law.
- No One Should Survive That: We still don't know how he survived a 1000+ foot fall after lopping of an arm. Leads too...
- Normally I Would Be Dead Now: The most we get of anyone mentioning this is scolding Sieg for sounding disappointed when saying he thought Shuda died.
- Playing with Fire: His Dark Brings' power.
- Real Men Wear Pink: And are the king of ballet.
Galein Musica
Voiced by: Yuichi Nagashima (JP), Ralph Votrian (EN)
And Xty something year old smith who originally forged the legendary Ten Powers. When one of his swords was used to slaughter his family he gave up on sword making and became a lapdog for Demon Card. He gets better once Haru reunites him with his not quite dead grandson.
- And This Is For: Slaughtering my entire family.
- Badass Grandpa: When he stands up to Lance.
- Dead Little Sister: Losing his family to one of his own weapons made him give up on being a sword's smith.
- If that wasn't bad enough, he actually served their murderer for a bit least until Haru came along.
- Unobtainium: He used metal from a shooting star to make his extra special swords.
- You Killed My Father: just replace father with children, their spouses, and my grandchildren.
General Jade
Voiced by: Takehiro Murozono (JP)
One of the four generals for The Empire who do virtually nothing other than act as Mr. Exposition. Jade stands out because he's the only one that doesn't get killed or turn out to be a mole. He never gets to meet Haru, but spends a good chunk of the story trying any way. He's also Jegan's older brother.
- Facial Markings
- Mr. Exposition
- Spell My Name with an "S": Go through the official translation and count the different names and spelling he gets. He's actually called Sieg initially, and they change the spelling on the next page.
Sieg Hart
Voiced by: Masami Kikuchi (JP), Crispin Freeman (EN)
The first (and for a long while, only) sorcerer introduced. Sieg Hart is a magic swordsman obsessed with protecting time, which comes from being raised in a town with the same obsession. He's initially introduced as an assassin after both Elie and King, but after Haru stops Elie's Etherion without killing her Sieg has a change of heart and makes it his goal to protect Elie at all costs.
- Badass: So much that it would've been cheap to have him fight in the last battle, so they killed him off.
- Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: By the end of the series he's been everyone's enemy at some point. It's a little hard to notice because he's usually allied to multiple groups, but Shuda calls him out on it at one point.
- The Comically Serious: Who didn't laugh when he said "poyo" during Ruby's explanation of magic?
- Curtains Match the Window: A mysterious blue haired pretty boy, so popular it was used...thrice in his following series!
- Defeat Means Friendship: Thank God.
- Elemental Powers: The only thing known about him for a while. He's even called "Elemental Master Sieg Hart".
- Facial Markings: which, probably unbeknownst to him, detail his future.
- Instant Runes: Which is supposed to be tricky.
- Normally I Would Be Dead Now: He can be pretty active for a guy who just got his gut ripped open.
- Purple Eyes
- Redemption Equals Death: It came late for him, though.
- Tomato Surprise: Remember that skeleton in Symphonia?
- Trapped in the Past To Die Alone: Which is fricken hilarious since it's Sieg. He decides not to eat anything to not alter history in the slightest. (Not that he doesn't go and talk to someone immediately after, but at that point he realized he was supposed to, to make history play out the way it did.)
- Not to mention pulling off a Gondor Calls for Aid for 50 years down the road.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: He's only the first notable example.
Gale Glory
Voiced by: Toshiyuki Morikawa (JP), Steve Bulen (EN)
Haru's long missing father, and one of Demon Card's founders. He has the same strong sense of justice as Haru. He never returned home because King put a magical bomb inside his body.

- Dropped A Tower On Him
- Forgotten Childhood Friend: To King.
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: Gets one after beign cut by king.

"Your existence is surreal"
King's son who went Axe Crazy after having a hellish childhood. He took over Demon Card after his father's defeat. He's noted as being something of a slave driver who comes dangerously close to having a god complex, and for offing any subordinate who fails even the slightest bit.
- Ax Crazy: See the drawings written in his cell when Sieg visited it after he had escaped, yeah he's a sane guy.
- A God Am I: Just a little, though. It's more like 'A God I Will Be'.
- The Antichrist: He believes (and with some pretty sound reasoning) that the meaning of his life is to destroy the universe.
- Aristocrats Are Evil: don't forget, he is technically a king. He doesn't forget.
- Because Destiny Says So: Believes his purpose to destroy the world and defeat Haru is so, but he really wants to destroy the world because his life's so fucked up.

- Villainous Breakdown: Has a minor one when fighting Haru for a second one as the latter proved stronger then he was and tried to feel sorry for him, making this also a case of Don't You Dare Pity Me!.
- Then their last fight has him basically blurting out the reasons for wanting the world to die!
- Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds
"Oracion Seis"
Reina
Voiced by: Yukana Nogami (JP), Tara Platt (EN), Sandy Fox (Child, EN)
The second Demon Card general introduced. A silver claimer like Musica. She tries to play up her looks and likes to flirt, though she isn't really interested in most men. She's also fiercely loyal to King, and hates working under Lucia. She eventually does a Heel Face Turn after falling for Musica.
- Broken Bird
- Curtains Match the Window: Green with envy for anyone who tries to get an important job from King.
- Dark Action Girl: For Demon Card until her untimely death.
- Dark and Troubled Past
- Extra Ore Dinary: She has the same power as Musica.
- Freudian Excuse
- Green Eyes
- Heroic Sacrifice
- High Heel Face Turn: Less than a chapter before she bites it.
- Kick the Son of a Bitch: Stabbing Sieg Hart, who just got finished with sealing Haru inside of a horrible Mind Rape. Her stabbing of Sieg had nothing to do with what he did to Haru, but the audience can't help but feel satisfied nonetheless.
- Lady in Red: Intially.
- Rapunzel Hair: Long green hair.
- Redemption Equals Death
- Tall, Green-Haired and Bishoujo
- Together in Death: Her and Musica inevitably. We don't see Musica die and this happen, mind you, but she talks to him in a Near-Death Experience and is clearly willing to wait for the proper time for this trope to come, as she encourages him to live on.
- You Gotta Have Green Hair
Jegan
Voiced by: Nobutoshi Canna (JP), Stephen Apostolina (EN)
The third Demon Card general introduced. Jegan is the serious, strong silent type, with a sword larger than Haru's. He was a childhood friend of Julia and Let's, but went just a little crazy when the Love Triangle didn't work in his favor.
- Ax Crazy
- Blond Guys Are Evil
- Dragon Rider: Which is actually the girl he had a disturbing crush on.
- Facial Markings
- Forgotten Childhood Friend: To Let.
- Green Thumb: His Dark Bring.
- Deadly Change-of-Heart: Killed off by Shakuma within seconds of deciding to redeem himself.
- Love Makes You Evil: And Ax Crazy.
- Murder the Hypotenuse: He wants to kill Let so he can have Juilia who in her up till recently dragon state is too mindless to comprehind this.
- Silent Bob: Mostly in his first appearance, until we find more about him.
- Unlucky Childhood Friend
Beryl
Voiced by: Souichirou Tanaka (JP), Kirk Thornton (EN)
The fourth Demon Card general. A Sentinoid who works for Demon Card presumably out of boredom. He's impressed by Lucia's ruthlessness and manages to convince the Demon Lords to bow to him.
- Early-Bird Cameo: He shows up once before the battle with King after having destoryed a town out of boredom, but has no role at all until after Lucia is freed.
- Dishing Out Dirt: His Dark Bring, "The Earth"
- Informed Ability: He's supposed to be the strongest general, but all the others gave the heroes a much harder time.
- Single-Stroke Battle: Raids a hidden area the heroes are in with a army of bugs. He has the upper hand till Haru comes out...and takes Beryl out with one blow just like the trash he is.
- Spell My Name with an "S": The English manga uses "Berial"
Haja
Voiced by: Hitoshi Bifu (JP), Richard Epcar (EN)
The fifth Demon Card general, who acts as temporary leader in the lull between King an Lucia's rule. He's also Demon Card's primary sorcerer. He's eventually revealed to be from the same origins as Sieg with the same mission, but isn't quite as willing to convert to the light.
- A God Am I: Eep.
- Badass Grandpa: He is beyond the other Oracion Seis, including BERYL who according to the notes, IS THE STRONGEST FIGHTER.
- He's able to fight evenly with Sieg after he becomes strong enough for a week straight without tiring.
- Big Bad Wannabe: attempts to wipe out every threat to himself in order to rule supreme, yet he is defeated through a stab by a wooden staff.
- The Man Behind the Curtain: Haja has one literally infused in his head in order supply his supposedly infinite powers.
- Big Bad Wannabe: attempts to wipe out every threat to himself in order to rule supreme, yet he is defeated through a stab by a wooden staff.
- He's able to fight evenly with Sieg after he becomes strong enough for a week straight without tiring.
- Evil Sorcerer
- Manipulative Bastard: He tricks Sieg's hometown into betray him and capture him so he can be used as sacrifice to acquire powerful magic.
- Sixth Ranger Traitor: While he is viewed to be the righthand man of King, in reality, he is working with a secret magic society in order to preserve the natural order by taking him and his son down. Hell, even that's not completely true, it really turns out he's trying to wipe both the Demon Card and the magic society he was born in, all so he can rule the universe with his infinite magic.
- [[spoiler: We Can Rule Together: It is implied that he wanted Shakuma, his master to rule alongside him or at least serve him. Too bad he never lived to find out to learn that his master is even more inhumane then he'll ever be and he wants the universe to be destroyed because it's unnatural.
- You Have Failed Me...: Haja has Jegan offed for this.
Julius
Voiced by: Akira Sasanuma (JP), Jeff Nimoy (EN)
The sixth, and vain, Demon Card general. Julius has serious moments once in a blue moon, and usually only because the enemy dared to strike him in the face. In spite of his goofy attitude, he's a powerful fighter, and the other generals tolerate his behavior. He seems to be the only general who acknowledges Shuda as an equal.
- An Ice Person: His Dark Bring's power
- The Beautiful Elite: His face is Serious Business.
- Beauty Mark
- Bishonen
- Cloudcuckoolander: He's one of the seven evil generals that the cast fights throughout the series, but he's more often concerned with all that is beautiful (especially himself) and can act pretty stupid for as much credit as King gives him.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: On the rare occasions where he's serious
- Defeat Means Friendship: Defeat in a dance contest, mind you.
- Heel Face Turn
- Naked People Are Funny: Starting with the Blue Gaurdians arc he's an exhibitionist
- Spell My Name with an "S": The manga calls him Iulius. Everyone else swears it's Julius.
Deep Snow
Voiced by: Yusei Oda (JP)
One of the four generals for The Empire, who defects to Demon Card after Lucia takes over. He's later revealed to be King's adopted son, who was sent away to be "saved from the path of darkness". He has no attatchment to Lucia, but serves Demon Card in order try to satisfy King.
- Like a Son to Me: Unbenoucned to him.
- Making a Splash: Able to bend water and...
- Nightmare Fuel: Bend literally anything that moves in any manner he chooses, including people!
- Meaningful Name: Kind of. It was snowing heavily when King named him.
- The Mole
- Nice Hat
- The Stoic: Most of the time.
- Not So Stoic: When he uses his Forbidden Dark Bring.
- Person of Mass Destruction: When he was a toddler attacked by wolves, he friggin' wiped them out, leaving only a crater behind, all done unconsciously.
- Dangerous Forbidden Technique: his forbidden Dark Bring is able to awaken the hidden power of humans, enough to beat the crap of Shuda.
- Sixth Ranger: Takes Shuda's place among the six, only to be beaten by him seven volumes later.
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: Somehow King forgot to tell Deep Snow he did see him as a son.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair
Other Villains
Doryu
A Demon Lord (technically, the fifth), who chose to come to the human world to live hand in hand with humans. It didn't work out, and he decided to destroy the humans instead.
- Bad Boss: Well to be fair he did warn Lilith first.
- Big Bad: While Lucia was gathering all the forces of evil.
- Dark and Troubled Past
- Dark Is Evil: his affinity and power, also the reason why the humans abandoned him because non-humans were viewed to be abominations of darkness.
- Don't You Dare Pity Me! - A little creepy when he says it.
- Doubles as his Villainous Breakdown as it becomes a Madness Mantra.
- One-Winged Angel: what that mantra leads to, His Demon Lord form.
- Doubles as his Villainous Breakdown as it becomes a Madness Mantra.
- Freudian Excuse
- Humans Are the Real Monsters: Considering what happened, you can't blame him for thinking this.
- Sorting Algorithm of Evil: "Long ago, King and I fought, and it ended in a draw. I have since become much stronger"
- Start of Darkness: The village he created turning on him and locking him up.
- The Stoic: The only one that's not not giving a smug grin or a Slasher Smile most of the time.
- Not So Stoic: His Demon Lord form.
Ogre
The leader of the Oni, who teamed up with Doryu to overthrow two other to know names in the underworld. He's the most heartless of the main villains, and also the most lecherous. He's completely obsessed with power, and doesn't care who he tramples over to get it.
- Ax Crazy: Literally, the only people that make him look sane are Hardner and Shakuma Raregroove, and you believe it when you read about them
- The Brute: He is easily the least intelligent of the Big Bads of the series.
- Dumb Muscle: Doryu is obviously a better strategist and has a more thought-out plan than the Oni captain will ever will.
- Extra Ore Dinary: A gold claimer to Musica and Reina's silver claimers.
- I Have You Now, My Pretty: Poor Elie.
- Lust: His main goal is too have all the pretty girls in the world.
- Villain Team-Up: With Doryu in order to fight off Demon Card, unfortunately they disbanded after when Haru proved their ultimate weapon useless.
Hardner
The leader of a criminal organization known as "Blue Gaurdians". After the loss of his wife and unborn child he found an Artifact of Doom that convinced him to forget his misery by making everything simply disappear and merge with Elie to do so.
- Ax Crazy: His Dark Bring has obviously taken a toll on his sanity after losing his wife and unborn child who was actually Nagisa unbeknownst to him who was raised by his former friend Yuma His goal is basically destroying everything in order to obtain everything
- A God Am I: Leads into Smug Super.
- Big Bad: While Lucia is recuperating.
- Healing Factor: His main power, doubles as a subversion of time control.
- Large and In Charge: In his initial appearance, he's easily the biggest Big Bad, but when he really appears, he's much smaller.
- The Starscream: Well, it's destroying everything, but it still counts since he allied with Lucia.
- Villainous Breakdown: When he learns his daughter is alive and he tortured her. However, he has a bigger one as his final fight with Haru goes on after being told that he isn't invincible anymore.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Goes with his villainous breakdown.
Shakuma
Haja's teacher whose magic surpasses even his own, he joins Demon Card in order to initiate Project DR, He is also the old king of the Raregroove Kingdom, thus being King's father and Lucia's grandpa
- Ax Crazy
- Blond Guys Are Evil
- Evil Old Folks
- Evil Sorcerer
- Parental Abandonment: He left his son King to some family, but considering his character, it was likely he wanted him to grow and destroy the universe as soon as possible rather than concern.
- The Archmage
- You Killed My Grandfather: He planted a curse onto the king of Symphonia and chuckled from the shadows as he slowly succumbed to the curse.
The Four Demon Lords
Megido, Juria, Uta, and Ashura (Doryu is dead). They rule the Mythical Realm where all the sentinoids come from with an iron fist. Beryl convinces them to submit themselves to Lucia. They become his Quirky Miniboss Squad during the final battle.
- An Ice Person: Juria
- Ax Crazy: Ashura and Megido especially
- Blood Knight: Uta, he is a Demon Lord of War after all, Megido has shades of this.
- The Dragon: Once Lucia scraps all his other minions, Megido especially.
- King of Beasts: Megido looks like one.
- BFS: Uta doesn't hold a candle to God's though.
- One-Winged Angel: Uta just grows another set of horns, but Ashura follows this trope more accurately.
- Quirky Miniboss Squad: Combined with Villain Decay is what they're reduced to in the last fight.
- Super Mode: Juria's hair stands up and is apparently stronger, Dragon Ball anyone?
Palace Guardians
L'Tiangle, Rionette, Racas and Ron Glace. Five warriors from other dimensions are brought together by one of King's Dark Brings, the Gate. The guard the Tower of Din as well as being non-humans of unparalleled strength. One, Let, later does a Face Heel Turn and becomes one of the good guys.
- Hair-Trigger Temper
- Informed Ability: These five are said to have powers greater than a 1000 demonoids, yet they go down much quicker than most of the later Quirky Miniboss Squad of the series.
- Additional points for Rionette for being described as the most cruel of the five, when all we saw as coldness and strange liking to weird things.
- Non-Standard Character Design: These five are much more detailed in design, especially compared to the later guardians of the several Big Bads who would later appear in the story; especially L'Tiangle, who is noted to be the hardest character to draw in the whole series.
- Quirky Miniboss Squad
- The Stoic: All of them appearance wise, only that Ron has a huge Hair-Trigger Temper and Racas is the Comically Serious
- Undying Loyalty: Implied.
- Villainous Breakdown: L'Tiangle, once Musica gets ahold of him, immediately panics as he did not expect that he'd make a counterattack.
Others
Levin Glory
A minor character who plays the Straight Man to Nakajim in the Flash Forward mini-strips "Levin Minds the House". Levin is left by his parents in the care of the strange creature Nakajima. The question of his parantage is supposed to keep people in suspense. It's (spoilers) Haru and Elie's son
- Babies Ever After: He's Haru and Elie's son
- Forgetful Jones: He's prone to amnesia so he can't remember his parents. Nakajima torments him by telling him lies about them. He got the bad memory from his mother.
- Straight Man
Nakajima
A strange plant person who grows on Haru's house. He's some sort of bizarre insectivorous sunflower, but even though he's a plant he refuses to admit this. In the side-comics, he babysits Levin, mostly via tormenting him.
- Cloudcuckoolander
- Know-Nothing Know-It-All
- Offscreen Teleportation: His species are immobile legless plants but live in a normal-looking village affixed to houses and manage to go about normal human lives, but only offscreen, with no explanation about how they do it.
- Plant Person: A sunflower...thing.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Bugs, and ramen.
- Truly Single Parent: He gives birth to a child, which horrifies poor Levin, which puts the plausibility of Nakajima having two parents into further confusion.
- Weirdness Coupon: Just read everything before this entry.
