Sealdah–Bikaner Duronto Express

The 12259 / 12260 Sealdah - Bikaner Duronto Express is a train of the Duronto Express category belonging to Indian Railways - Eastern Railway zone that runs between Sealdah and Bikaner in India.It operates as train number 12259 from Sealdah to New Delhi and as train number 12260 in the reverse direction serving the states of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana. It used to run as New Delhi - Sealdah Duronto Express and was the firstDuronto Express to be launched as announced in the Railway budget of 2008/09. On 24th February 2020, it was extended beyond New Delhi to Bikaner, thereby becoming not only the first Duronto service to Bikaner, but also one connecting New Delhi and Bikaner.

Traction

As the route is partly electrified, and both the two rakes of 12259/12260 Seadah - Bikaner Duronto Express is HOG (Head On Generation) enabled so it is powered from Sealdah to New Delhi by a Howrah based HOG (Head On Generation) WAP 7 Locomotive as it's Regular Loco Link from both ends. Besides it is also powered by Howrah based WAP-4 Or Ghaziabad based WAP-7 as Offlinks. On its remaining journey from New Delhi to Bikaner Junction, it is hauled by a Bhagat Ki Kothi or Tughlakabad based WDP-4B or WDP-4D diesel locomotive, as the route is not yet fully electrified.
