Raidió Rí-Rá

Raidió Rí-Rá ([ˈɾˠadʲiːoː ˈɾiː ˈɾaː] "Radio Fun"), founded in 2008, is an Irish language chart music radio station broadcasting on DAB in County Waterford and Dublin, on the Internet, and, for approximately one month a year, on FM radio.

Information

Raidió Ri-Rá was created to mark Seachtain na Gaeilge in March 2008 under the working title of Raidió X. Following a competition, its name was changed to Raidió Rí-Rá.[1]

Digital Audition Productions and Conradh na Gaeilge collaborated to create an Irish language chart music radio station for young people. It broadcasts 24 hours a day with music and the latest pop news in Irish.

The website has an estimated 35,000 page views per month.

During March, Raidió Rí-Rá broadcasts on FM in Dublin, Cork, Galway and, prior to 2011, Limerick, to mark Seachtain na Gaeilge.[2]

The radio station broadcast on DAB digital radio in the South-East DAB Trial in March 2011.[2]

The station hopes to get sufficient funding and a full national license on FM raidio from the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland. In the interim they hope to be available on Saorview, Ireland's Digital terrestrial television Service.

gollark: I think my prizekin got traded off again...
gollark: I *collect* coppers.
gollark: Given that I can typically trade cheeses/papers for CB coppers, I mean.
gollark: I find it weird that CB coppers vanish basically instantly so I'm unable to get one but not unbreedables.
gollark: Can we buy pagination too?
