Henry Kwek

Henry Kwek Hian Chuan (simplified Chinese: 郭献川; traditional Chinese: 郭獻川; pinyin: Guō Xiàn Chuān; born 20 April 1976)[1] is a Singaporean businessman and politician. A member of the country's governing People's Action Party (PAP), Kwek has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kebun Baru SMC since July 2020 and was the MP representing Nee Soon GRC for Kebun Baru from September 2015 to June 2020.[2]

He is also an executive director of a homegrown investment, trading and management consulting company.[3] He invests in business opportunities and manages the company's portfolio of assets.

Education

He studied in The Chinese High School (Singapore) and Victoria Junior College before graduating from Stanford University with degrees in economics and management science.[4]

Political career

Kwek has led two Parliamentary motions about issues facing the elderly and their caregivers.[5][6] He has also spoken in Parliament about issues such as opportunities for Singapore-based companies and start-ups.[7]

In his constituency, Kwek launched The Hope Collective, which brings together volunteers, welfare organisations and government agencies to collaborate and draw up programmes for the needy.[8] The Hope Collective includes programmes such as mentoring for low-income families and students, senior befriending, career counselling, cancer support, etc.[9]

Personal life

He is married and has a dog, a Japanese Spitz.[10]
