Together with Chua Chu Kang GRC, it is currently under the management of Chua Chu Kang Town Council. Prior to the 2011 general election, a five-year plan was introduced by PAP, which plan includes replacing current bus stops (those orange-white type used in the 1990s) along Jurong West Avenue 5 and 3, at the constituency, with new modern bus stops (those grey ones used in the 2000s).

In the 2011 general election, this ward gave the People's Action Party a strong mandate of 70.6% despite the national average dropping to 60.1%. Sin Kek Tong also received the second-lowest percentage of votes from all candidates, behind another candidate Desmond Lim who took a share of 4.45% of the votes in Punggol East SMC during a three-cornered fight.

In 2020, parts of Jurong West (Bulim) were transferred to West Coast GRC, and some of the Tengah from Chua Chu Kang GRC were transferred to this constituency. This is to facilitate the growing development of Tengah New Town and also the remaining public housing projects in Bukit Batok West.
