Ang Wei Neng
Ang Wei Neng (simplified Chinese: 洪维能; traditional Chinese: 洪維能; pinyin: Hóng Wéinéng; born 31 March 1967) is a Singaporean politician. A member of the Singapore-based People's Action Party (PAP), he currently serves as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Jurong Group Representation Constituency.

Early life and education
Ang was born in Singapore (1967). For his primary education, Ang attended Nanyang Primary School. Thereafter, he studied at The Chinese High School and Hwa Chong Junior College. He obtained a degree in Bachelor of Arts from the National University of Singapore in 1990 and Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) degree in 1991. In 2000, he was awarded an Master of Business Administration (MBA) by Nanyang Technological University.[1]
Career
Ang served his scholarship bond in the Singapore Police Force (SPF) for 6 years after graduation from NUS and set up the Police Psychological Unit in SPF as well as served as Head of Operations in a Police land division. After serving his scholarship bond, Wei Neng became a profit centre manager in the American International Group (AIG) before moving on to regional roles in Asia under different companies. He joined SBS Transit Ltd in 2004 and was Head of Bus Operations before joining ComfortDelGro Taxi Business as CEO in 2017.[2]
Political career
Ang was first elected as a member of parliament (MP) for the Jurong Group Representation Constituency (GHC) in 2011. Since then, he has been a member of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Education and Transport since 2011. Ang is the Chairman of the Singapore-America Regional Parliamentary Group. He is also the Chairman of Jurong-Clementi Town Council and a member of the Public Accounts Committee since 2016. Prior to that, he was a member of the Estimates Committee from 2011-2015. In the 2020 Singaporean general election, Ang was moved from Jurong GRC to contest in West Coast GRC against Progress Singapore Party and was elected into the 14th Parliament of Singapore.[1][3]
Ang champions the holistic development and employment opportunities of people with disabilities and has been a key member of the Enabling Master Plan II & III; Implementation Advisory Panel on Compulsory Education for Children with Special Educational Needs and a member of Grace Orchard School’s (school for students with mild intellectual disability) Management Committee. In the sports arena, Ang has been the President of the Volleyball Association of Singapore since 2014.
Ang was also the Chairman for the River Hongbao 2019 (Bicentennial Edition) which attracted about 1.5 million visitors to the event venue at the floating platform, featuring spectacular fireworks performances from United States, Italy, China and Australia for the first time.
Personal life
Ang is married with four children.[4]
