The barangay's total land area is 824 hectares (2,040 acres).[3] According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 885.[1]
Governor Boyles celebrates its annual fiesta on 15 May in honor of their patron saint.
Location
Located in the south of the municipality, Governor Boyles is bounded to the north by San Francisco, to the east by Villa Teresita, to the west by Buenavista and to the south, by the municipality of Alicia. Governor Boyles is 20 km (12 mi) from the town center, Poblacion.
History
Formerly its name was Sampongon, which means summit. It is used to be a constituent barangay of Pilar. It became a separate barrio annexed to Ubay in 1951. In 1965, its name was changed to Governor Boyles, in honor of former Bohol governor, Eutiquio O. Boyles (16 October 1916 – 15 October 1919).[4]
