Axis Powers Hetalia/Trivia

• Axis Powers Hetalia is a series about people who are countries. Doesn't sound too strange until you realize that the series manages to be educational and gay. The best part? The author is male.
  • And don't forget that one of the girls who does appear is a total yaoi fangirl, to the point that she doesn't mind seeing her husband being molested by other nations.
  • As an additional sidenote, said author was living in New York when he came up with the idea, which probably explains why it seems as though it's not quite expectedly Japanese.
• Each of the countries' quirks is based on what the country is famous for.
  • Such as America and... Nantucket?
    • Well, there's Nantucket as his Idiot Hair. The author later started a series called "Chibi-san Date" that takes place in Nantucket.
• Switzerland and Lichtenstein are depicted as brother and sister, with Switzerland being extremely protective of her. In Japanese, they are voiced by Romi Park and Rie Kugimiya, respectively, similar to the relationship between their characters in Fullmetal Alchemist (Park as Edward Elric and Kugimiya as Alphonse Elric)
  • There's also Truth in Television, in that the two countries do view each other as "siblings" (wir sind bruder).
• Italy is a nihilistic Batman, aka the 4th Espada
• Estonia's character design was based on Himaruya's own looks. Not the hair and eye colors, though.
  • He also jokingly has called the character "the best character in the series"
• For America's Maru Kaite Chikyuu they used the "Awesome" and "Music" straight from Lady Gaga's "Just Dance".
  • In the ending song from the movie, you can also hear him yell Yes We Can! at one point.
    • He explicitly says "Yes we can" in "WDC World Dancing", one of his character songs, too.
• Banned in South Korea, for various reasons.

• Hey, It's That Voice!: In full effect when you realize that the Allies' meetings feature (in Japanese) Kamina, Sasuke Uchiha, Gluttony, and Vash. Not to mention that Hitsugaya is kicking around as Switzerland.
  • Not to mention Axis Powers Japan sharring the voice of Folgore in the Japanese version.
  • Also, the Elric brothers as another sibling duo, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
  • In the dub, however, the Elric Brothers are Greece and Sealand.
  • ROME'S VOICE ACTOR HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN IN THE FAMILY FOR GENERATIONS!!
    • Now I'm picturing Armstrong singing "Ren Ren Renaissance." THANKS A LOT.
  • North Italy is apparently heir to the throne of Xing..
  • In the dub: Karasuma's the hero!
    • In the original, Karasuma is Japan!
  • Dub: Germany is Isshin Kurosaki, America and Canada are Yuki Sohma, France is Scar and Russia is Kyo Sohma
  • All from Ouran High School Host Club: Tamaki is Greece, Kyoya is France, Hikaru is Italy, Arai is Russia, Honey is Hungary, Nekozawa is Germany, Kasanoda is Rome, and Akira is Japan. It might be easier to find Ouran VA's who aren't in Hetalia.
    • Also, Renge is Belarus and Shiro is Chibitalia, so I think you may be on to something.
    • Honey plays another cute little boy as Chibi America.
  • All from Baccano!: Isaac is France, Nicholas is Japan, Firo is North Italy, Dallas is South Italy, Claire is Russia, Huey is America and Canada, Czeslaw is Sealand, Ennis is Chibitalia, Ronnie is Austria, Elmer is Switzerland, and finally, Chane is Belarus.
    • France and Isaac have the same voice actor in both the original Japanese and in the English dub.
  • Italy plays the bad guy with full of BANDAGES on his body!
  • Germany is also the guy who wields a giant sword in the sequel.

    • That is to say China, the victim of an ever smiling sadist (Russia) shares the voice of another ever smiling sadist (Shusuke Fuji, who apparently loves to watch people suffer more than he likes disgusting "health drinks")
    • Watch out for France's Dunk Smash, Japan's Acrobatic Play and America's anime-only coordination!
  • France is Sebastian, who wants Chibitalia's soul.
    • Also from Black Butler: Mey-Rin is Belarus, Baldroy is Romano, Lizzie is Liechtenstein, Lau is Russia, Agni is Germany, and Ash is Austria.
  • America is Soul Eater's Justin Law!
    • And Italy is the son of Death.
    • Stein and Medusa have a loving relationship as Austria and Hungary. Enjoy the mindfuck.
  • In the dub, Belarus has a pet panda! Her older sister was Ed and Al's mother and their only brother was a serial killer who developed a crush on Riza after she shot him.
    • Also, Liechstenstein has an Overprotective Dad
  • Chibitalia ferries people to hell. And is a succubus.
  • Belgium and Liechtenstein were Idol Singers recruited by the Producer!
  • Not to mention that the italies are secretly Pokémon!
  • From the original Japanese version this time: America is a powerful onmyouji with a complex for his even more powerful little sister
  • Shori Shibuya is America in the original and Germany in the dubs.
  • Brothers Chris and Greg Ayres voice the two Japanese water spirits Britain encounters in Japan's hot springs.
  • In the original version of Bleach, England is Ishida, Germany is Chad, France is Shinji, America is Keigo, and Italy is Ulquiorra!
  • Kumajiro is actually an Ax Crazy student participating in a tournament!
  • France uses powerful sun magic in his true form!
