Survivor (TV series)/Characters/Gabon
Bob Crowley
- Awesome By Analysis
- Badass
- Born Winner
- Bow Ties Are Cool: See Sharp-Dressed Man.
- Cool Old Guy
- Cool Teacher
- Crazy Enough to Work: His idols - they were so good, people actually fell for them multiple times.
- Determinator: After the merge, he did everything he could short of winning every immunity to stay in the game.
- Everything's Better with Bob: Played straight.
- Intergenerational Friendship: With Sugar.
- Karma Houdini: Randy still voted for him despite Bob participating in his humiliation, most likely because he hated Susie more and Sugar most of all.
- Law of Chromatic Superiority: Subverted and Defied. Bob was never part of the Fang Tribe before the merge, and he beats two former Fang members in the finals to win. Another also interesting thing is that had Matty won, it'd have been subverted and defied because he'd have been the only person never to have left the Fang tribe and would have beaten people who had been Kota members.
- Nice Guy
- Sharp-Dressed Man: Already notable when he uses his buff as a bow-tie.
- The Smart Guy
- Stern Teacher: Justified.
- Stoic Spectacles
- Sole Survivor: The oldest one to do so.
- Team Dad
Susie Smith
- Alliterative Name
- BBW
- Cool Old Lady
- Defeating the Undefeatable: Subverted. She ended Bob's immunity streak, but Bob still won the game.
- Foe Yay: With Corrine and Randy.
- Hot Mom
- Intergenerational Friendship: With Matty.
- Meganekko: In the finale.
- Out of Focus: One of the most ignored final three contestants in the series - the number of confessionals she had could probably be counted on two hands. When you consider that she was literally one vote away from winning the game...
- Team Mom
Jessica Kiper
- Badass Adorable: She's a model - and it shows.
- Celebrity Resemblance: To Marilyn Monroe.
- The Chessmaster
- Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: If a less malicious version than prior invocations of this trope in Survivor.
- Dumb Blond: Subverted - She could be quite vicious if she wanted to!
- Flipping the Bird: To Corrine in the final.
- Foe Yay: With Corrine.
- Genki Girl
- Hair of Gold
- Hard Work Hardly Works: She basically controlled the entire season, yet got no votes at the Final Tribal Council, mostly because a) her answers were so bad, and b) everyone hated her.
- Intergenerational Friendship: With Bob.
- Kawaiiko
- Kingmaker Scenario: She pretty much decided Bob would win.
- The Load: In challenges early on, especially the keep-away challenge.
- Ms. Fanservice
- No Damage Run
- Odango
- Only Known by Their Nickname: Sugar.
- Plucky Girl
- Poor Communication Kills: A recurring theme of Final Jury was a juror asking her a question, Sugar giving an answer, and the juror being dumbstruck at how bad the answer was.
- The Second Runner Up Takes It All
- Seemingly-Wholesome Fifties Girl
- Xanatos Gambit: See Kingmaker Scenario. She had it good both ways.
Matty Whitmore
- Determinator: Was stuck on Fang, the clearly inferior tribe in almost every aspect, for the entire game. When you're in his position, you need to be a Determinator.
- Mr. Fanservice
- Hair of Gold
- Hot-Blooded
- Intergenerational Friendship: With Susie.
- Maniacal Laugh: Particularly in the endurance challenge against Bob.
- Wacky Marriage Proposal
Ken Hoang
- Adorkable
- Ascended Fanboy
- The Chessmaster
- Coming of Age Story
- Game Master: Quite a literal example; He is a professional gamer.
- Graceful Loser
- Hey, It's That Guy!: He's a world champion Super Smash Bros. player.
- Huge Girl Tiny Guy: With Crystal
- Manipulative Bastard: Most notably when he convinced Sugar and Susie to flip and get Ace and Marcus voted out respectively.
- The Smart Guy
- Smug Snake: And post-game, he was the first to admit it.
- Tagalong Kid: Or so he seemed.
- Took a Level in Badass / Took a Level in Jerkass: As the season progressed he became a very strong strategic player, and he became very cocky about his own abilities.
- Ungrateful Bastard
Crystal Cox
- Alliterative Name
- The Cobbler's Children Have No Shoes: Granted; she was part of a relay team and likely had used steroids; a lot of challenges didn't favour running... but even then, you'd think a relay medalist would be better.
- The Dragon: To Kenny.
- Faux Action Girl: One of the standout examples of the series.
- Foe Yay: With Randy.
- Hair-Trigger Temper
- Hot Mom
- Informed Ability: On paper, she would seem like one of the best female challenge players to enter Survivor. Instead, she had one of the worst challenge performances in Survivor history, even beaten by the likes of Kenny.
- And lasted less than one second in an endurance challenge!
- No Indoor Voice: Her famous statement to the Confession Cam when voting for Randy.
- Sassy Black Woman
- Statuesque Stunner: Six foot three!
Corinne Kaplan
- Amusing Injuries
- The Baroness
- Berserk Button: Do not refer to her as a good girl.
- Card-Carrying Villain: Unfortunately overshadowed by Randy - she was rather vicious when she managed to get screen time though.
- The Chew Toy: To the extreme. This girl was plain unlucky.
- Dark Chick
- Expy: Very similar to Jerri in many regards.
- Femme Fatale
- {{Fiery Brunette Fiery Redhead}}
- Foe Yay: With Sugar.
- Jerkass
- Jerkass Has a Point: Her gambit to survive the Pagonging of the Onions with Bob relied on Bob's fake idol, Ken's desire to make game-changing moves, and Crystal's following of Ken. Had Ken not overplanned the situation and tried to flush the idol out as well as vote out Matty, it would have worked.
- Ms. Fanservice
- Plucky Girl: Especially once the Onions were down to just her and Bob.
- Tall, Dark and Snarky
- Tall Redheaded And Bishoujo
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: One of the most vicious in Survivor history.
"Sugar. You are an unemployed, uneducated leech on society, and the only thing I would vote to give you is a handful of antidepressants so no one else has to be subjected to your constant crying anymore, and maybe if you got some then it would seem a little more sincere when you are crying about your dead father. You don't deserve the million."
Randy Bailey
- Ascended Fanboy: Would you believe that he's been applying for the show since Pearl Islands?
- Badass Bookworm
- Brutal Honesty: Best summed up from this post tribal-shuffle quote
"I will do my best despite hating each and every one of you."
- Call Back: His response to the Humiliation Conga when casting his jury vote.
- Card-Carrying Villain
- Cool Old Guy
- Grumpy Old Man
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Averted - Jeff said that if he had made it to the loved ones challenged, nobody would have visited him.
- Foe Yay: With Crystal, Susie and Sugar.
- Griefer: At two points: At the start of the game, where he just planned to make everyone miserable so he could capitalize on whatever mistakes they made (which he titled "Operation Let Other People Crash and Burn,") and then later on, he continued to make everyone miserable so they would dog-pile their votes onto him, he could then play the idol and take whoever he and his alliance wanted out of the game (he called this plan "Operation Strongarm.") If the idol he had was real, then "Operation Strongarm" would have worked completely.
- Grumpy Old Man
- Humiliation Conga: At the tribal council he was voted out in, he overheard Crystal yelling at him to the confession cam, played a fake idol, and then got voted out.
- It's Personal: Towards everything.
- Jaded Washout
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite being a Card-Carrying Villain, he's a lot nicer than Corrine.
- Jerkass Woobie
- Oh Crap: His expression when he realizes just how badly Bob suckered him.
Charlie Herschel
- Camp Gay: Borderline.
- Deadpan Snarker
- Irony: His first confessional in the game was remarking about how Crystal chose Susie in the tribe pick 'em, remarking something like "Don't you wanna win challenges?" Come his boot episode, she wins individual immunity and he's the one voted out.
- Ship Tease: Charlie shared a platonic friendship with Marcus, though the editing tried to make it so that Charlie had a crush on him.
Marcus Lehman
- The Ace
- Being Good Sucks: Trusted Crystal because he was best friends with her cousin, and was willing to adjust his play to give her leeway. This was a mistake.
- Mr. Fanservice
- Ship Tease: With Charlie.
- Shocking Elimination
- Standardized Leader
Dan Kay
- Adorkable: He's not stereotypically nerdy, but his awkwardness did lead certain viewers to think of him as this.
- Big Eater
- Bunny Ears Lawyer: And he's actually a lawyer!
- Epic Fail: His search for idol on Exile
- Keet
Ace Gordon
- The Ace
- Bald of Awesome
- Contrived Coincidence: See Poor Communication Kills.
- Disc One Final Boss
- Genius Bruiser
- Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: Certain viewers noticed that his accent occasionally went in and out, but during the Reunion Show, he confirmed that he really is British. Or is he really from Mississippi?
- Poor Communication Kills: Sugar might not have flipped on him that early if he hadn't asked for her idol practically right after Kenny told her that Ace only wanted her as an ally for said idol.
- Shocking Elimination
- Sitcom Arch Nemesis: Briefly with Paloma, then with Kelly.
- Ted Baxter
Kelly Czarnecki
- Ms. Fanservice
- The Load
- Sitcom Arch Nemesis: With Ace after refusing to vote out Paloma.
- Smug Snake
- Valley Girl
Danny Brown
- Lazy Bum
- Only Known by Their Nickname: GC
- Standardized Leader: Brutally subverted - he was one of the most spineless and unwilling leaders in the show's history, had to be forced into the position, and then asked to be voted out when it got too hard. No wonder Fang was such a terrible tribe.
- Suicide by Cop
- The Load
Jacquie Berg
- Diabolus Ex Machina
- I Coulda Been a Contender: If not for the first tribe swap, Jacquie probably would have done well.
- Ship Tease: Briefly with Marcus. It's never followed up on.
- The Stoic
Paloma Soto-Castillo
- Girlish Pigtails
- Sitcom Arch Nemesis: To Ace.
Gillian Larson
Michelle Chase
- Ms. Fanservice
- The Complainer Is Always Wrong
- Ship Tease: With Ken. Needless to say, it didn't last.
- Too Dumb to Live: Refused to back down or even try to get along with people, no matter how hard Ken tried to get her to. This is basically suicide in the early stages of the game.
