Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask
Voiced by: Tohru Furuya (JP), Rino Romano, Toby Proctor and Vince Corazza (EN), Genaro Vazquez and Gerardo Reyero (LatAm), Esteban Massana, Mario Arenas and Angel Sacristan (Spain), Matthias von Stegman and Dominik Auer (GER), Marco Balzarotti (ITA), Cassius Romero (PT-BR, Classic), César Marquetti (PT-BR, R-Stars), Rogério Jacques (PT)
- Adaptational Badass: Inverted. After the first season of the anime, his importance quickly faded, as did his badassery ratio. Reputedly, the director of the anime hated his character. By contrast, he retains a larger role in the manga.
- Anti-Villain: After his first brainwashing session at Beryl's hands, he still retained many of his noble qualities and became one of these.
- Arranged Marriage: In the live-action, with a girl named Hina Kousaka (the daughter of his old caretaker). He still falls for Usagi, and Hina later lets him go willingly.
- The Artifact: In the anime, especially during S and Super S. He started as a Satellite Character to give Usagi someone to emote at, but he and Usagi hit the Relationship Ceiling at the end of R, and meanwhile Usagi had lots of friends and characters to emote at, so he basically didn't do much before he was Put on a Bus destined to crash.
- Badass Normal: In live action he doesn't seem to have any inherent powers.
- Betty and Veronica: The Archie for Usagi's Betty and Rei's Veronica. He chooses Usagi.
- Big Brother Mentor: To the other Inner Senshi, specially Ami. This is the basis for the Ami/Mamoru pairing.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: The worst offender in the anime.
- In the manga too. While one of the arcs in which he receives this treatment, the mini-arc about Nehellenia's return, does not exist in the manga, Black Lady and Galaxia do not let poor Mamoru miss his regular dose of Brainwashed and Crazy.
- Bus Crash: In Stars. His plane never arrives in America.
- Butt Monkey: Guy has no luck when it comes to being a victim.
- Chick Magnet: And suffering for it, as many female villains (and two males) have a crush on him, which usually means they want to turn him into their obedient manslave.
- Coat, Hat, Mask
- The Comically Serious: Sometimes.
- Dude in Distress: More in the anime, though his manga self also wasn't free.
- Even the Guys Want Him: In the anime, Fiore was head over heels in love with him, and Fish Eye also found him really handsome.
- Evil Costume Switch: In PGSM when Mamoru is possessed by Metallia's energy.
- Gentleman Thief: In the beginning, more so in the manga, whereas he's more of a superhero in the anime.
- Hot Shoujo Dad: Will become this once Chibi-Usa is properly born.
- Ill Boy: In Super S, as The Dead Circus's influence spreads on Earth. He heals once the enemy is defeated, though.
- Ineffectual Loner: Sort of.
- It's Not You, It's Me: In R, he starts doing this to Usagi after having several nightmares about Usagi's upcoming death in their wedding day.
- This is also done to a lesser degree in Super S, when he starts to become sick and fears that Usagi would catch his infection. Little did he know his illness wasn't related to any viruses, but to the presence of the Dead Moon Circus.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: In the beginning of the anime.
- Mask Power
- Montague Counterpart: In the first season, until he and Usagi recover their memories of their past lives.
- Mind Rape: The reason behind his nightmares. Actually, these were sent to him by... his future self. Meaning, Mamoru had been mindraping himself all the time.
- Mysterious Protector
- Non-Indicative Name: The mask part is there, but he wears white tie and tails instead of a tuxedo.
- The One Guy
- Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Manly Man to Motoki's Sensitive Guy.
- Shallow Love Interest: In the anime; from the second season onward, as he ended Overshadowed by Awesome.
- Sharp-Dressed Man
- Simple Staff: His cane, which he could extend at will in the anime.
- Something About a Rose: His other ability in the anime.
- Tall, Dark and Handsome
- Team Dad: Acts like a brother to the Senshi (specially to Ami), keeps Usagi and Chibi-Usa with their feet on Earth, in the S season he talks to the Inner Senshi directly to try finding out about their reasons.
- Useless Boyfriend
- The Worf Effect
The Cats
Tropes in common
- Alien Animals: Cat aliens from the planet Mau.
- Cats Are Magic: Well, not all cats, just alien ones with crescent moon sigils.
- Cats Are Snarkers: Are they EVER!
- Cute Kitten
- Killed Off for Real: In the manga, with an odd What Happened to the Mouse? feel, as they're the only ones of Usagi's friends not shown to be rescurrected.
- Mentor Mascot
Luna
Voiced by: Keiko Han (JP), Jill Frappier (EN), Rocío Garcel and Cristina Camargo (LatAm), Márcia del Monaco (PT-BR, Classic), Márcia Gomes (PT-BR, R-Stars) António Semedo (PT)
- Beware the Nice Ones: In the fourth episode of the anime, Luna threatened to claw Usagi's face when she didn't feel like helping stop the Monster of the Week and looked damn scary doing it
- Catgirl: In PGSM, once the Silver Crystal gives her a half-human form.
- Cool Big Sis
- Deadpan Snarker
- Eccentric Mentor: Blame Queen Serenity for removing her memories.
- Interspecies Romance: She gets a crush on Hot Scientist Kakeru in the S movie and the short manga story it was based of. Then in Stars she gets a brief crush on Yaten.
- Rescue Romance: Her crushes on humans start when both of them save her: Kakeru pulls a Diving Save when she's about to be run over by a car, Yaten saves her from birds.
- Ms Exposition
- Sixth Ranger: Only in the live-action series as Sailor Luna
- Tsundere: Towards Artemis. Also towards Usagi, in a non-sexual way.
Artemis
Voiced by: Yasuhiro Takato (JP), Ron Rubin (EN), Salvador Delgado (LatAm), Marcelo Campos (PT-BR, Classic), Carlos Silveira (PT-BR, R-Stars), Cristina Cavalinhos (PT)
- Beware the Nice Ones: in the Makaiju arc of the anime, a Cardian curbstomps and depowers Sailor Moon. When Sailor Moon returns with a power up, we find out that Artemis has fought the Cardian all the time and even scractched it, doing BETTER THAN SAILOR MOON HERSELF. Granted, Sailor Moon's power were decreasing at the time, but still...
- Big Brother Mentor
- Butt Monkey
- Deadpan Snarker: Indeed. Like when the sailor scouts were at a beach, looking at guys through binoculars.
Artemis: They come to this great beach, and all they do is oggle boys!
- Dogged Nice Cat Boy: To Luna, who is Tsundere for him.
- Eccentric Mentor: Blame Queen Serenity for removing his memories. Though in the manga, his are more intact then Luna's as he knows the Moon Princess's real identity from the start.
- Gender Blender Name: This is mentioned in the Sailor V manga, when Minako points out that he's a male cat with a goddess' name.
- Trickster Mentor
- White-Haired Pretty Boy: His human form, only seen in the manga.
Diana
Voiced by: Kumiko Nishihara (JP), Naomi Emmerson (EN), Connie Madera (LatAm), Fátima Noya (PT-BR, SuperS), Cristiane Bullara (PT-BR, Stars), Cristina Cavalinhos (PT)
- Cheerful Cat Child
- Head Pet: Often sits on Chibi-Usa's head.
- Kid From the Future: Luna and Artemis's daughter.
Phobos and Deimos
- Color Coded for Your Convenience: In human form, one wears red and one wears purple. The manga is in black and white, but Deimos' outfit is darker, indicating that she is the one in purple.
- Gender Blender Name: The crows are female, but are named after male deities.
- Ravens and Crows
- Theme Twin Naming
Queen Serenity of the Moon Kingdom
Voiced by: Mika Doi (JP), Barbara Radecki and Wendy Lyon (EN), Patricia Acevedo (LatAm), Raquel Marinho (PT-BR, Classic), Denise Simonetto (PT-BR, R-Stars)
- Heroic Sacrifice: She knew very well that releasing the full power of the Silver Crystal would ultimately kill her, but she did it anyway to banish the Dark Kingdom singlehandedly.
- The High Queen
- Hot Mom
- Identical Past-Life Mother: Looks like an silver-haired, Older and Wiser Usagi.
- Ms Exposition: Almost at the end of the anime, she's the one who explains the whole backstory of the Silver Millenium to the Senshi.
- Spirit Advisor: In the R anime.
- Thanatos Gambit: In the anime, knowing that the Dark Kingdom would be reborn sooner or later, Queen Serenity used the last bits of energy she had to release the souls of the fallen Senshi, Endymion and Princess Serenity so they'd be reincarnated as well, while also freezing Luna and Artemis in a Convenient Coma so they could become their guides.
- White Haired Pretty Lady
- The Woman Wearing the Queenly Mask
The Sailor Starlights
Voiced by: Seiya: Shiho Niiyama (JP), Irwin Daayan and Mónica Villaseñor (LatAm), Marcelo Campos and Eleonora (Prado PT-BR), Rogério Jacques (PT). Yaten: Chika Sakamoto (JP), Sergio Bonilla and Circe Luna (LatAm), Rodrigo Andreatto and Letícia Quinto (PT-BR). Miguel Feijão (Taiki and Yaten PT)
- Ascended Extra: All of them; Naoko Takeuchi herself didn't quite understand why they were given such a major role in the anime.
- Attractive Bent Gender: Undoubtedly easy on the eyes as women and men.
- Badass Bookworm: Taiki.
- Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: Yaten, Taiki and Seiya respectively.
- Bifauxnen: In the manga.
- Chivalrous Pervert and Hopeless Suitor: Seiya, who comes damn close to stealing Usagi away, but in the end doesn't take advantage of her when she's at her most vulnerable.
- Cross-Dressing Voices: In the Japanese versions. Averted in other dubs, though: their civilian identities would be voiced by males and their Starlight selves by women.
- Hell-Bent for Leather: Senshi form.
- Hot-Blooded: Seiya.
- Human Aliens: From the planet Kinmoku.
- Frickin' Laser Beams: Seiya's attack.
- Sugar and Ice Personality: Yaten, in the anime.
- Romantic Runner-Up: Seiya, though not for lack of trying.
- Shell Shocked Veterans
- Sixth Ranger
- The Stoic: Taiki.
- Stripperiffic: Their senshi forms are some of the most revealing outfits in the series.
- Super Gender Bender: In the anime.
- White-Haired Pretty Boy: Yaten's human form, in the anime.
- White-Haired Pretty Girl: Yaten's whole self in the manga and his Starlight side in the anime.
- Wholesome Crossdresser: In the manga.

- White-Haired Pretty Boy
Princess Kakyuu
Voiced by: Sakiko Tamagawa (JP), Connie Madera (LatAm), Raquel Marinho (PT-BR), Cristina Cavalinhos (PT)
- Big Damn Heroes: In the anime, she appears for the first time by saving Usagi from having her Star Seed taken away by Sailor Lead Crow, as well as neutralising the black hole Crow had summoned (and which had just killed her).
- Demoted to Extra: In the anime.
- Dropped a Bridge on Him: She's killed off around two episodes after her introduction, through an Heroic Sacrifice. She gets better, though.
- Everything's Better with Princesses
- Expy: Arguably, of Helios, in relation to Chibi Chibi. But without the Toy Ship.
- Facial Markings: The one on her forehead. It's a Sweet Osmanthus, called kinmokusei in Japanese
- Fiery Redhead: Averted, she's polite and serene. Her NAME means fireball however.
- Magical Girl: She has a senshi form called, strangely Sailor Kakyuu (Most would expect Sailor Kinmkou
- Red Headed Heroine
- The Worf Effect: With fatal consequences, in the anime.
- We Would Have Told You But: Kakyuu could have gotten out of the small kettle Chibi-Chibi kept on her own, but she was injured after escaping her doomed planet and wanted to wait for the right moment to reveal herself.
- Yamato Nadeshiko
Chibi Chibi/Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon
Voiced by: Kotono Mitsuishi (JP), Patricia Acevedo (LatAm), Isabel Wolmar (PT)
- Badass Adorable
- Big Eater
- Blue Eyes
- Cute Mute: For a long time, we only hear her say "Chibi Chibi!" In the anime she also echoes bits of other people's words and sentences because, since she's so little, she's still learning to speak.
- Enemy Within: Inverted in the anime. She is Sailor Galaxia's Star Seed
- Expy: To Chibiusa
- Girlish Pigtails
- Is That Cute Kid Yours: What people ask Usagi with Chibi Chibi.
- Odango: And they're heart shaped!
