- In the Aqua Teen Hunger Force episode "100", the theme from the in-story "reimagining" ends with the words 'in space'.
- Silverhawks is Thundercats IN SPACE! (Compare Mumm-ra's and Mon-starr's Transformation Sequences.) It even used most of the same voice actors. Rather odd in that Thundercats is in space in the first place...
- On a related note, Tigersharks (part of a short-lived programming block called The Comic Strip) is Silverhawks... UNDER WATER! Who lives like the Thundercats under the sea? The... Ti... Ger... Sharks!
- The Flintstones is The Honeymooners AS CARTOON CAVEMEN!
- The Jetsons is The Flintstones IN THE FUTURE! (A crossover cartoon, titled The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones, pretty much cements this notion.)

- South Park played it completely straight. There was an episode Starvin' Marvin, followed two seasons later with Starvin' Marvin IN SPACE.
- Star Wars: The Clone Wars seems to love it, especially during the second season:
- "Senate Spy" episode was Notorious IN SPACE, according to the writers.
- "Landing at Point Rain" was (again, according to the producers) the first act of Saving Private Ryan IN SPACE.
- "Legacy of Terror" and "Brain Invaders" are Zombie Apocalypse IN SPACE.
- "Bounty Hunters" is Akira Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress IN SPACE, indicated by the memory card at the beginning.
- George Lucas was heavily influenced by Kurosawa. Guess which Kurosawa film's influence stands out most in the original Star Wars movie.
- "Zillo Beast" is Godzilla IN SPACE, while "The Zillo Beast Strikes Back" is more like King Kong IN SPACE.
- Cad Bane was designed to be Lee Van Cleef IN SPACE.
- Stone Trek is Star Trek AS CARTOON CAVEMEN!
- The Roman Holidays is Make Room For Daddy IN ANCIENT ROME!
- There is an Animated Adaptations of The Partridge Family set IN THE FUTURE! (It was originally to be The Jetsons a few years farther into the future.)

One such episode of Recess does a very good adaptation of the Hogan's Heroes pilot and another features a scene where expys of the characters are in a Hogan's Heroes-style WWII POW camp; complete with the Colonel Klink expy wearing a monocle.
- Pound Puppies (especially the 2010 revival, which is made by the creators of Recess) is Hogan's Heroes IN A DOG POUND!
- The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries is, as you can probably guess, Sylvester and Tweety (oh, and Granny) AS AMATEUR SLEUTHS!

- Rugrats itself is not an example, but it has a Show Within a Show called Space Trek Babies. Which is Star Trek WITH BABIES!
- All Grown Up! is the Rugrats, ALL GROWN UP! ... Captain Obvious, signing out.
- The Chaotic animated series can be interpreted as Warcraft WITH CARD GAMES!
- Mightor is Superman or Wonder Woman IN PREHISTORIC TIMES!
- Ni Hao, Kai-Lan is Dora the Explorer AS A CHINESE GIRL!
- Batman OF THE FUTURE was an actual title used for Batman Beyond in certain markets.
- Showdown, an episode of Batman the Animated Series featuring a Jonah Hex storyline, was made because the writers recognized Hex as Batman OF THE OLD WEST!
- Tom and Jerry relies on this trope a lot. Granted, it's because there's only so much you can do when the premise of the entire series is "cat chases mouse."
- Popeye received similar recyclings, especially once Famous Studios took over in the 1950's and the writers ran out of ideas.
- Zorro: Generation Z is Zorro IN THE FUTURE! How far is unknown, because it looks a lot like the present with added Family-Friendly Firearms.
- Drawn Together Babies is just Drawn Together WITH BABIES!
- Drawn Together itself is The Real World WITH ANIMATION!
- Trollz is WITCH WITH... are you sure they're supposed to be trolls? Yeah, I know what the title says, but come on, they're obviously elves or dwar...okay, you have a point there... -WITH TROLLS!
- Pretty much every classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon is a classic TV show (or at least a character) done with animals. Top Cat is Sgt. Bilko with alley cats.
- Angel's Friends is WITCH, or Winx Club, depending on what fandom you prefer, WITH ANGELS AND DEMONS!
- Winx Club is Sailor Moon with fairies.
- The spin-off Pop Pixie looks like Trollz WITH PIXIES!
- Jimmy Neutron parodies the trope with an in-universe example when their school principal puts on a production of Macbeth IN SPACE! He later mentions that next year, he'll be doing Hamlet ON ICE!
- Robot Chicken is KaBlam! FOR ADULTS!
- ChalkZone is The Fairly OddParents WITH CHALK DRAWINGS!
- Jimmy Two-Shoes is SpongeBob SquarePants IN HELL!
- Stoked is 6Teen AT A BEACHFRONT RESORT!

- Green Lantern First Flight is Training Day IN SPACE!
- Seeing as how Green Lantern: First Flight is largely based on Green Lantern stories that were first published in the 60's, Training Day is actually Green Lantern.... ON EARTH!!!!!
- Hanna-Barbera made a whole bunch of iterations on Tom and Jerry, many of which were back-up segments on other shows:
- Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks is Tom and Jerry WITH TWO MICE! AND THEY TALK!
- Punkin Puss and Mushmouse is Tom and Jerry BUT THEY'RE HILLBILLIES! AND THEY TALK!
- Motor Mouse and Autocat is Tom and Jerry ON MOTORCYCLES! THEY TALK TOO!
- While it didn't get made, one of Greg Weisman's spin-off ideas for Gargoyles was Gargoyles 2198, which was basically Gargoyles IN THE FUTURE AND LARGELY IN SPACE TOO!
- Titanic: The Legend Goes On is James Cameron's Titanic, AS A DISNEYESQUE CARTOON WITH THE MAIN CHARACTER'S GENDERS REVERSED! AND A RAPPING DOG!
- Kid vs. Kat is Invader Zim WITH CATS! AND LESS DEPRESSING!
- I Am the Greatest!: The Adventures of Muhammad Ali was a 70's cartoon show a show about Muhammad Ali in space.
- Fish Hooks is SpongeBob SquarePants IN HIGH SCHOOL! IN A FISH TANK!

- When the final season of Hanna-Barbera's All-New Popeye Hour during the late 1970's was reformatted into The Popeye and Olive Comedy Show for its final season, one of the segments was called "Prehistoric Popeye." Basically a combination of Popeye and The Flintstones with Popeye eating his spinach out of cans made from rocks!!
- Several Veggie Tales videos often do this to several stories from The Bible, such as the story of Joseph and the Exodus IN THE OLD WEST, and the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Adbenago AS FACTORY WORKERS!
