Yaaradi Nee Mohini (transl. Who are you, Ghost) is an Indian Tamil-language soap opera starring Shreekumar, Nachathira, Chaitra Reddy, Fathima Babu, Yamuna Chinnadurai, Minnal Deepa and Baby Lisha. It started airing on 24 April 2017 on Zee Tamil.[1][2][3] It is claimed to be the second-highest budgeted series in South Indian television.[4]

Plot

Mutharasan (Shreekumar) is the grandson of a rich landlord. He loses his mother and his father Thanikachalam (Ravi Varma) remarries Neelambari (Fathima Babu). He does not know that Neelambari is plotting to kill him, and in fact respects and trusts her. Meanwhile, Vennila (Nachathira) his cousin loves him and wants to marry him. Neelambari secretly plots against him to acquire his father's property for her children; however, a clause in the will forbids her, as it says Mutharasan's wife must sign. Neelambari brings Swetha (Chaitra Reddy) her niece to marry Muthu and supports her. Meanwhile, Chitra (Yamuna Chinnadurai) (Mutharasan's dead wife) ghost is now out to spoil Neelambari's evil designs. After few days Neelambari and her gang found it is sprit of Chitra who spoils their plan.

Swetha plans to marry Mutarasan by hook or crook. She schemes and kills Vennilla's mother (Sudha) and her grandmother (Vijayalakshmi). Later a day comes when Swetha and Muthuarasan's marriage fixed, Swetha's ex-husband Yuvaraj (Shyam) comes to stop the marriage. Swetha comes to know this and planned to kill Muthuarasan's father. Now Vennila becomes too lonely as everyone who supported her were dead. Here comes a clever character Kalai (Vinitha), wife of Maruthu (Bharath) (Neelambari's first son) who finds power of Chitra and stand along with Vennila. Maruthu later causes an accident to kill Kalai but she slips into coma. Chitra's mother (Sumangali) comes in picture to reveal the truth to Muthuarasan, but later gets killed by Neelambari. After some time, Ruthra (Lisha), the real daughter of Mutharasan, is adopted by him as he likes her, when he gets to know that she is an orphan. Although he does not know that Ruthra is his daughter, Ruthra knows it from her grandmother, Sumangali. Swetha plans to separate Ruthra and Vennila from Mutharasan. In a series of events, Mutharasan identifies the true caring nature of Vennila and how people in the house are taking advantages of her and stands beside her in all her problems. Mutharasan comes to know, from a priest that he has a biological child whom Chitra had delivered before her death. In an attempt to know his child, he climbs the"Siddhar Malai" and gets to know that Ruthra is his daughter. When he returns, Ruthra is abducted by a family who claim that Ruthra is the daughter of Pasupathi (Suresh Krishnan) and Chitra. Mutharasan doesn't believe this, but gets attacked by them in his head and gets hospitalised. In a series of events, the members who claimed Ruthra are killed by divine interventions and forces. Eventually Venilla brings a herb from "Siddhar Malai" and cures Mutharasan's ailment. The story now moves ahead to unveil how Mutharasan finds out the true colours of his family. Neelambari fixed Mutharasan marriage with Swetha but Mutharasan married Vennila with all revenges and problems aried by Swetha and now Swetha admitted in Hospital for treatment. She totally cured and come back to take revenge.

    • The protagonist of the series. He is rich and good-hearted and helps everyone in his town. He has a small love with Vennila although he is supposed to marry Swetha. He is the father of his long lost daughter Ruthra and husband of Chitra (Ghost) and Vennila

    • Mutharasan's second wife. She is famous in her village for her spiritual prayers and loves his cousin Mutharasan from the bottom of her heart. Finally she got married with Mutharasan. She is also the stepmother for Ruthra.
  • Chaitra Reddy as Shwetha
    • The Main Antagonist of the series, Neelambari's brother's daughter, a cruel lady who wants to take over Neelambari's family's wealth by marrying Mutharasan. Although plans get wasted due to Chitra's ghost and circumstances, still takes revenge against Vennila, Ruthra, Janani, Karthick and tries to marry Mutharasan.
  • Fathima Babu as Neelambari
    • The Antagonist of the series. She want Mutharasan to marry Swetha to get his all properties but her plans got failed. Now she taking revange against Vennila. She was step mother of Mutharasan, and Mother of Marudhu, Poongodhai, Janani and Karthick.
  • Yamuna Chinnadurai as Chitra
    • Mutharasan's first wife. She was killed by Neelambari and Swetha's father in a fire accident. Now as a ghost she safeguards Mutharasan, Vennila, Ruthra, Karthik and Janani whilst frightening Swetha and Neelambari.
  • Lisha as Ruthra
    • Long-lost daughter of Mutharasan . She was rescued by her grandmother and was living with Mutharasan's family doctor for nine years from when she was born. She reunites with Mutharasan and his family.

Casting

This is a horror love story produced by S. Sabreesh Kumar of Monk Studios that airs on Zee Tamil. Thirumathi Selvam and Maanada Mayilada fame Sanjeev was selected to portray the lead role as Mutharasan. Sanjeev made his comeback after Karai Serial. In May he left the Show.[5] Later Shreekumar, Bommalattam, Pillai Nila, Megala, Sivasakthi and Thalayanai Pookal fame was replaced in the role of Mutharasan in Episode: 271. Actress Nachathira landed as Vennila in the show, is making her debut with the series. Chaitra was selected to portray the second leading role and main antagonist as Swetha, Fathima Babu entered the show as the main antagonist as Neelambari and Yamuna Chinnadurai was selected to play as Mutharasan's 1st wife who turns to a ghost. While Lisha, Minnal Deepa, Bharath, Aravindh Khathare, Bavithran, Srineedhi Sudharsan and Surjith Ansary plays Supporting Role!

The series' first photo was released officially on 4 February 2017 cast interview on Puthandu 14 April 2017 in the Chithirai Puthandu special Programs hosted by Deepak Dinkar and Archana Chandhoke.

Crossover episodes

Yaaradi Nee Mohini cast and crew joined Maha Sangamam with the series "Gokulathil Seethai" from 3rd August 2020. It telecast 1 hour in a prime time at daily on Zee Tamil[6]
