Samsung Galaxy A40

The Samsung Galaxy A40 is a mid-range Android smartphone developed and manufactured by Samsung Electronics. Running on the Android 9.0 "Pie" software, the device was announced on March 19, 2019.[4] It was released a month later in Europe on April 10, 2019.[1]

Specifications

Hardware

The Samsung Galaxy A40 has a 5.9-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U screen display with an 85.5% screen-to-body ratio. It has dimensions of 144.4 mm by 69.2 mm by 7.9 mm.[1] The phone is equipped with an Exynos 7904 chipset, a dedicated slot for microSIM and a dual nano SIM slot which supports VoLTE. The device is only available with 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM, and is expandable up to 512GB via the microSD card slot.[5] It also houses a 3100 mAh battery.[1]

Camera

The A40 is equipped with a dual-rear camera. The main lens is 16 megapixels, with an f/1.7 aperture size. It also houses a face detection auto-focus feature.[2] The second, ultra-wide camera lens is 5 megapixels with an f/2.2 aperture size.[2] The front camera is 25 megapixels.

The camera system of the A40 supports LED flash, as well as Full HD video recording. Maximum video recording resolution is 2336x1080 pixels (Full mode).[2]

Software

The device runs on the Android 9 (Pie) operating system, along with Samsung's One UI.[2] It also features the Bixby virtual assistant and Samsung Pay (NFC).[3]

Samsung has released the One UI 2.0 for Galaxy A40 in April 2020.
