Details

Class 2300 locomotives are DL-535 RSD-30 model locomotives manufactured within 1969-70[1][2] by Montreal Locomotive Works (MLW).[3] They weigh 72 tonnes and have a power output of 1,400 hp (1,044 kW). A similar model was also imported by India as class YDM-4. The prime mover is Alco 251B-6.[4] Total 24 locomotives were made numbered as 2301-2324.[5] They have similar specifications to Class 2400 and Class 2800 locomotives.

Classification and numbering

These locomotives are classified as 'MEM-14', where M = Meter-gauge, E = Diesel-electric, M = MLW and 14 = 14×100 hp = 1,400 hp. Total 24 locomotives are numbered from 2301 to 2324.

Usage

Class 2300 locomotives are heavily used for passenger trains. Initially they used to pull premium trains but due to age, they are used on short and long distant commuter trains and local trains. These locos are basically not used for freight trains.

Maintenance

Class 2300 locomotives are based and maintained in Dhaka and Lalmonirhat rail division.

gollark: I mean, yes, we have those still, but they're very broad categories.
gollark: What "20-30 year old technology"?
gollark: M.2 is just a form factor, M.2 SSDs can use SATA or NVMe, NVMe is a newer PCIe-based protocol for SSDs which is faster but not really that significant for everyday use, you can use your existing SSD if your thing supports it.
gollark: And why 32GB RAM?
gollark: Why get your own thermal paste?
