Resident Evil Roleplaying
This is a rather trope-heavy Alternate Universe Resident Evil RP group found on Tumblr. It should be noted that there are Resident Evil: Revelations spoilers being posted there on a regular basis.
Due to how there have been roleplayers who've left and their characters got reset, the plotline summary is being rewritten. The tropes relating to the characters who have been now taken out of the story be reset, since the roleplayers in question may not go with the different interpretations of the character.
The plotline:
The main storyline starts out in August. Wesker is searching for more viral samples and has recruited the Wolfpack to help him. Several BSAA members get involved in the story (though it should be noted that Chris and Jill, despite being two of the main characters in the main series, have avoided most of this conflict). Parker ends up switching sides due to a deal.
Meanwhile, RPD, a sentient bipedal chain-smoking alcoholic licker, had recently been released from testing and is now being used as a weapon, being sent on missions. He and HUNK are sent off to a tanker (in is what is dubbed "The Tanker incident") to retrieve a viral sample. Parker ends up getting sent in as backup, along with Lupo, but Lupo leaves early due to her orders. After they end up in the hospital, it's revealed that RPD had a mind control device placed on him. Parker and HUNK (the latter weakened due to a gunshot wound that ends up getting reopened) get the device off of him. They then do some digging and it's revealed that Umbrella is planning on using that sort of technology on other BOWs to form an army.
In November, Parker and HUNK get sent in to deal with Theta-Med, a rival pharmaceutical company. During the course of the incident, both end up hallucinating due to a serum both of them received and Parker ends up infected with the T-Abyss Virus.
Due to a one-night stand, Excella is revealed to have become pregnant with Wesker's children (fraternal twins). Her character arc includes how she's adjusting to what's going on.
Leon ends up in a fight with Lupo. During it, she poisons him with a rare poison that requires one to constantly keep one's heart rate up, otherwise one will die. It is then later revealed that Claire is pregnant with his child.
Alfred ends up revealing that he's placed cameras everywhere. This causes everyone to panic, because Alfred put any footage of sexual acts up on the internet for people to watch. This ends up resulting in a fight between Sergei and Nicholai, who were involved with one another. Parker ends up mutating into an Oozelike creature. Raymond and Charlotte end up taking care of him for the duration and Parker's subjected to several. Meanwhile, Charlotte and Harold spend their time getting to know one another.
RPD is still working directly for Wesker, given stabilizing shots for his mutation when he completes a mission. He's mutating slowly and worried that he's going to lose his mind.
Alex Wesker, Jake Mueller, and Sherry Birkin end up involved with the main storyline, along with Jessica Sherawat. Alex spends their time probing around, trying to get RPD to join their side with promises of a cure. They also offer HUNK a position as a mercenary, despite how little they would pay HUNK when compared to Umbrella. Jessica generally angers people, especially Jill, Raymond, and Parker, due to the events of Revelations.
RPD ends up running around the city, his mask off so everyone can see he's a Licker, while in full uniform. Eventually, Wesker catches up to him and captures him, subjecting him to procedures that make RPD mutate into a mindless monster that is described as being like a cross between a Licker and a Tyrant.
- Aborted Arc: Due to many people leaving the group, there've been some major changes.
- Abomination Accusation Attack: Keith to Bertha, but he quickly recants after seeing her face.
- Acting for Two:
- The Parker roleplayer is also the Veltro roleplayer.
- The Excella roleplayer is also the Nicholai roleplayer.

- The Charlotte roleplayer is also the Raymond roleplayer.
- The Wesker roleplayer is also the Harold roleplayer.

- Action Girl: Jill, Rachel, Sherry, Lenoire...
- Actor Allusion: There are references to other characters the roleplayers has played in the past/is currently playing [even in other groups] or the players themselves.
- A Date with Rosie Palms: HUNK.
- A Day in the Limelight: The Wolfpack, Parker, HUNK, Forest, and Rebecca are not main characters in the series by any means, but they're more of the main characters than some of the main characters.
- Adult Fear: So many times.
- Including Rebecca having a man break into her home and steal her underwear.
- Alfred installing cameras everywhere.
- Aerosol Flamethrower: Rebecca
- A Father to His Men: O'Brian and Lupo.
- Affectionate Nickname: (For the sake of brevity, the character is listed, then all the nicknames they've gotten.)
- Parker: Gramps, Parky, Parker the Penguin, Mr. Chubby, Hippie, Hippie-Trucker, bear...
- Chris: Steriods
- Lupo: Wolfmother, Momma Wolf, Lupa Madre, Wolfmutter

- A God Am I: Wesker.
- Air Vent Passageway: RPD, due to some guards, pulls off an escape using this.
- Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: Very much so, especially when several characters go out to get drunk together.
- The Alcoholic: RPD. Parker has shades of this.
- All There in the Manual: This shows up on occasion, due to details that aren't terribly important or would squick people out being left out for simplicity's sake.
- Alternate Universe: The only way to explain Umbrella still around after Resident Evil 5, how only a few of the characters know about very famous events, Raccoon City still being around, all of the ages of the characters being off (28 year old Four Eyes and Party Girl, but Raymond, Parker, and Wesker have aged normally, for example)...
- A Match Made in Stockholm: Four Eyes and Parker first meet when she's his guard when he's the Wolfpack's prisoner. They end up together for a time.
- Ambiguous Situation:
- HUNK and Parker's mission in a Theta-Med facility. What's real and what's hallucination can occasionally be hard to tell. Other times, it's rather obvious.
- Whether or not Claire is pregnant. At first.
- Am I Just a Toy to You?: Claire to Leon in response to a comment he made during intimacy.
- Anachronism Stew: STARS and Umbrella still existing as of 2009-2011 (?), people not remembering major bioterror incidents that should remember, character ages being off...
- An Axe to Grind: Parker
- The Anons Made Me Do It!: Occurs frequently whenever the players play games like Truth or Dare or ask for anonymous questions. Invoked word-for-word by Bertha when she was dared to lick Keith.
- Anti-Hero: As time goes by, the heroes of the series start veering into this.
- Anti-Villain: The Wolfpack and RPD.
- Arc Welding: Occasionally
- Artistic License: Biology: Alexa is only one month into her pregnancy and the baby's started kicking. This is hand-waved by saying the pregnancy is developing two months ahead of schedule so it's technically three months along. Babies don't start kicking until mid-way through the fifth or sixth month. (The only reason this is being kept is because it's so damn strange.)
- Asexuality: HUNK. Does not stop the Anons from insinuating other things...
- Ask a Stupid Question: Much of the cast does this from time to time.
- Back from the Dead: Forest Speyer, Veltro, Excella Gionne, Rachael and Albert Wesker.
- Badass: Most of the cast
- Adaptational Badass: Most of the cast
- Badass Abnormal: Albert Wesker, RPD
- Badass Biker: Claire Redfield
- Badass Bookworm: Four Eyes, Quint Cetcham
- Badass Damsel: Claire Redfield
- Badass in Charge: Lupo and Wesker
- Badass Long Hair: Forest Speyer
- Badass Normal: HUNK, the members of the BSAA and STARS that aren't infected, and the members of the Wolfpack.
- Heartbroken Badass: HUNK
- Pregnant Badass: Excella Gionne
- Bad Boss: Wesker, oh so very much.
- Bad Dreams
- Bad Powers, Good People: RPD
- Batman Gambit: Excella's plan to kill Wesker.
- Bear Hug: Parker does these a lot.
- Joseph also gives one to Rebecca.
- The Bechdel Test: It passes.
- Becoming the Mask
- Being Evil Sucks
- Being Good Sucks
- Berserk Button:
- If one is not completely and unquestioningly loyal to Wesker...
- You do not constantly tease Chris about the notion that he's on steroids for too long...
- Parker does not take kindly to people killing civilians for fun.
- You do not threaten peoples' children in front of either Lupo or Excella. They will end you if they can.
- You do not insult Keith's mother.
- Raymond does not appreciate the idea of having to put down close friends/lovers if they are BOWs.
- Beware the Honest Ones
- Beware the Nice Ones
- Big Bad: Wesker. Obviously.
- Bigger Bad: Alex Wesker
- Bigger Is Better in Bed: It is normally a non-issue, because other characters having sex don't mention any specific sizes, though there's at least one or two references Excella makes to Wesker being on the larger side, because the condoms Charlotte was handing out for Valentine's Day were "too small," and Alfred mentioned that Parker is "well-endowed."
- The Big Bad Shuffle: Albert Wesker, Alex Wesker, and Veltro. Maybe.
- Big No: HUNK once.
- Bilingual Backfire: RPD knows Italian, so he understands what Parker says. This ends up a problem, because he understands what "ora" means. ("Now.") HUNK and Parker were getting ready to rip the mind control device off of RPD.
- Bilingual Dialogue: Beltway lapses into Spanish, Four Eyes into Japanese, Lupo into French, Sergei into Russian, Bertha into German, Rachel into Swedish, and Parker, Excella, and Charlotte into Italian.
- Bi the Way: Some of the characters. Depending on the Writer, the focus given to it and when it is focused on varies. To wit:
- Parker Luciani
- Excella Gionne: She is pansexual.
- Chris Redfield
- Albert Wesker
- Party Girl
- Blinding Bangs: Rachel
- Blood From the Mouth: RPD, after he gets beat up by Wesker.
- Bold Inflation: A lot of characters.
- It gets a Lampshade Hanging by the HUNK roleplayer in OOC chatter.
- Brainwashed and Crazy:
- RPD at one point.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: "Roleplayer versus Character" debates, along with questions about what the character thinks of certain qualities about their roleplayer.
- Break the Cutie
- Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: Billy and Rebecca.
- Bullying a Dragon: Keith when he taunts Bertha.
- Bunny Ears Lawyer: Beltway, Four Eyes, and Quint
- But Not Too Bi/But Not Too Gay: Sometimes, Depending on the Writer
- Canon Discontinuity: Any interactions between the characters in the RP group and other RP groups are non-canon by default.
- Due to roleplayers changing, certain things are reset, to be fair to the newer players that come along.
- Can't Have Sex Ever: Excella cockblocking Parker for a period of time.
- Can't Hold His Liquor: Parker seems to be an odd case. He became an alcoholic after the Terragrigia Panic in-canon. Justified in that he gets infected with the t-Abyss virus during the Theta-Med thread. Alcohol is a diuretic and those infected with the t-Abyss virus have a different water balance than normal humans...
- Carpet of Virility: Parker as Type 2. He's described as being like a big, cuddly teddy bear. By HUNK.
- Cat Fight: The group seems prone to having these. The men in the group always watch in amusement.
- Cerebus Rollercoaster
- Character Alignment
- Character Development: Many of the characters undergo this due to the events of the story.
- Chekhov's Boomerang: The architecture of Wesker's facility.
- Chekhov's Gun:
- RPD's mind control headband.
- Parker's BSAA radio transmitter.
- Veltro's PDA.
- Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: Wesker, as per Canon.
- Click. "Hello.": How Lupo is introduced.
- Combat Medic: Bertha
- Comedic Sociopathy: Bertha's views on torture.
- Continuity Drift: Wesker being able to take the form of a small child does not happen anymore, for the obvious reasons.
- Continuity Lock Out: Averted with the rules. All plotlines have to make a good amount of sense. There's also a plotline page, which is a general summary of what happens to the characters. There's also the chance that there will be a timeline page at some point.
- Continuity Nod: Depending on the Writer, naturally. Some writers throw in quite a few references, while others keep it to a minimum. This includes both nods to the roleplay storyline and nods to the games.
- Continuity Reboot: This plotline is actually the result of one.
- Cooldown Hug: Quint gives Keith one of these after he fights with and tries to attack someone.
- Cosmic Plaything: Most of the cast. (It is lampshaded often by Billy)
- Cough-Snark-Cough: Parker saying anything about Chris being on steroids.
- Crosscast Role: HUNK, Jake, Parker, Nicholai, Chris, Leon, Quint, Sergei, Wesker, Harold, and Il Veltro are all played by women.
- Cry Into Chest: Parker does this with HUNK. He just hallucinated that Four Eyes was dead and didn't know it was a hallucination.
- Cuddle Bug/No Sense of Personal Space: Parker
- Curb Stomp Battle: Wesker versus RPD. Wesker wins.
- Wesker versus anyone.
- Curiosity Is a Crapshoot: Mostly negative or neutral.
- Dangerous Deserter: Parker.
- Dark Action Girl: Lupo, Four Eyes, Bertha, Jessica...
- Dark Is Not Evil: RPD and several of the Wolfpack have shades of this.
- The Dead Have Names
- Deadpan Snarker: RPD, among others
- Deal with the Devil: Anyone who makes a deal with Wesker has this issue in a non-supernatural version of this trope.
- Death Is Cheap: What with all the viruses that can bring back the dead.
- Deliver Us From Evil: Excella.
- Dented Iron: RPD, Parker, Leon, and Lupo.
- Depending on the Writer: Due to how it has multiple authors, quality and style vary quite a lot.
- There are also some instances of different people playing the same character, changing their interpretation in certain ways.
- Horror, action, romance, comedy, drama, or a mix of some? Depends on the writer, too.
- The style of roleplaying: Script, in the tags, or story?
- Length of the posts: One line, a few, a paragraph or two, or half a page? Depends both on the writer and the thread.
- And the emphasis on the Myth Arcs of the story in the roleplays. Certain characters are heavily involved (such as HUNK, RPD, Parker, Excella, and Wesker), while others are less so (such as Brad, Keith, and Nemesis).
- Destructive Savior: Wesker thinking of himself as a savior, while him and his subordinates causing quite a bit of destruction, would fall under this.
- Destructo-Nookie: Bertha and Keith
- Did Not Do the Research: In-story example: Wesker either does not know or does not care about the Geneva Convention at all.
- OOC examples include when roleplayers goof on details such as halter tops having arm straps.
- Did They or Didn't They?: Sometimes shows up. Some of the roleplayers keep it ambiguous.
- Ditzy Genius: Quint
- The Dog Bites Back: The story is headed in this direction...
- Do Not Taunt Cthulhu: Rachel warns Hunnigan of this when the latter threatens to kill Parker, Chris, Lupo, and Keith, all of whom are professional soldiers.
- Don't You Dare Pity Me!: How HUNK feels about Quint talking to him out of pity.
- Double Standard Rape (Sci Fi): Excella finds Nemesis violating Parker with his tentacles funny. Parker doesn't appreciate it.
- The Dragon: Lupo
- Dramatic Ellipsis: Show up from time to time. Forest in particular tends to use them often.
- Dramatic Irony: A lot of stuff that happens has shades of this. Part of this encompasses avoiding metagaming.
- Drinking Game: Occasionally shows up in RP.
- Drinking on Duty: Several members of the Wolfpack. Lupo, naturally, does not approve of this.
- Drink Order:
- Wesker prefers more sophisticated alcoholic drinks, such as various wines.
- Rebecca prefers Whiskey.
- Parker prefers beer.
- RPD will drink Whiskey, Vodka, beer... Anything, really.
- Drowning Our Romantic Sorrows: Occasionally
- Early Installment Weirdness: Just ask about the plotline before the reboot.
- Or early into the main storyline. Wesker turning into a small child at random is one of the more egregious examples.
- Easy Amnesia: RPD, due to being controlled. He gets better.
- The Easy Way or the Hard Way: Excella says this at one point to Parker.
- Equal Opportunity Evil: This is precisely why RPD cannot leave Umbrella.
- Ethical Slut: Multiple characters.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones/Even Mooks Have Loved Ones
- Everybody Has Lots of Sex: For a time.
- Everyone Can See It: HUNK's crush on Quint.
- Evil Costume Switch
- Evil Feels Good: Beltway and Rebecca think so when they go off killing a whole bunch of civilians for no reason other than boredom.
- Evil Tastes Good: Parker beheading a Hunter, ripping it apart, and eating it raw seems to think so, at least.
- Evilutionary Biologist: Wesker
- Evil Virtues: Several of the Anti Villains have things they will not do.
- Extremely Short Timespan: A plot thread with RPD, HUNK, Krauser, and Parker took almost two months to write. In the story's timeline, it takes up roughly a day and a half.
- The plot thread involving HUNK and Parker has taken six months to write and it's still not done yet. It has taken up a few hours, in-story time. Maybe.
- Eye Scream: Forest lost his eyes to the crows.
- Eyes of Gold: Parker infected himself and this is one of the side effects.
- Face Heel Turn: Parker (though he's mutinous now).
- Fan Disservice: Shirtless Parker. It Makes Sense in Context
- Feed It a Bomb: An new BOW type described as a cross between a licker and an Ooze with extra arms and extremely thick armor is defeated in this manner. It then gets named a Dodongo.
- Femme Fatale: Bertha, Lupo, Ada
- Fighting for Survival: So much so that even characters that are normally villains in series end up involved. To whit...
- Owl: Excella, since she has a plan involving how to kill Wesker.
- Hippo: Sergei Vladimir, since he is one of the people that could take Wesker head-on in a fight and not die instantly.
- Now, thanks to Charlotte, Veltro also falls under this category.
- Wolf: Lupo. Her codename is hilariously coincidental, given that she's the Wolfpack's leader, Lupo means Wolf in several Romantic languages, and she fits the description of a Wolf.
- Mockingbird: RPD, because that's how he is.
- Beaten Dog: Pretty much everyone working for Umbrella who has turned against Wesker.
- Platypus: Any character that falls under multiple descriptions above.
- Fingore: Parker ends up jamming a grenade in a BOW's mouth. In the process, its' teeth ripped up his hand badly enough to require stitches.
- First-Name Basis: Excella is the only one to call Wesker by his first name, Albert, and Excella is the only ones who calls Four Eyes by her given name, Christine.
- Flash Back: Many, including:
- The members of Spec-Ops have been doing flashback roleplays recently.
- Tweed and Rebecca in Raccoon City.
- Wesker and Charlie meeting before Charlie joined the BSAA.
- A strange example is any thread that lasts longer than a day or two. It technically all becomes a flashback after a week, due to how the story is written in real time, where a normal day passing equals a day in-game.
- Foe Yay:
- Lupo/Chris
- HUNK having a crush on Quint
- Keith/Bertha
- Foreign Cuss Word
- Foreign Language Tirade: Excella
- Forgets to Eat: Four Eyes.
- For Science!: Four Eyes' modus operandi.
- The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Sergei alludes to it at one point, likening himself to War and Wesker to Pestilence, wondering who Famine and Death are.
- Fourth Wall Mail Slot: The anons asking the characters things function as this sometimes. It also affects the characters in-story. Including the whole mess involving Alfred putting footage up on porn sites of characters who'd had sex.
- Friendly Enemy: HUNK, Lupo, Parker, Norman, RPD, and other characters display this trait.
- Full-Body Disguise: Parker ends up dressing in a werewolf costume to sneak into the opposite side's base and talk to one of their commanders.
- Funetik Aksent: Bertha and Forest's roleplayers write with German and Southern accents respectively.
- Gas Mask Mooks: Many times.
- Genre Roulette: On any given day, there can be comedy, drama, horror, action, romance, or a mixture.
- Genre Savvy:
- Excella knows that Law of Inverse Fertility applies in this story's universe.
- HUNK knows to not split up.
- Gentleman and a Scholar/Cultured Warrior: Parker. Between the Divine Comedy quotes on occasion, fondness for opera, and multiple literary allusions, the politeness, and the fighting, he's somehow a mix of these two tropes.
- Raymond also falls under this, due to his fondness for opera and books.
- German Dialects: Bertha's roleplayer uses a generic German Accent.
- Germanic Efficiency: Bertha
- Get Back in the Closet: Averted. Some people outside of the group took issue with Raymond/Parker. Both the Raymond and Parker roleplayers responded to the questions and then continued writing the pairing anyway. They still get a few bothersome anons, but they are normally dealt with quickly.
- Get Your Mind Out of the Gutter: Excella says this at one point.
- Girl-On-Girl Is Hot: The general consensus on the Femslash pairings, particularly amongst the Anons.
- Glamour Failure: Wesker's red eyes.
- Good Smoking, Evil Smoking: RPD
- Goofy Print Underwear: Parker has boxers with pink duckies on them.
- Gratuitous Foreign Language: A lot of people are able to speak foreign languages. Especially Italian
- Graying Morality
- The Guards Must Be Crazy:
- Lampshaded by RPD after Joseph ends up in an Umbrella facility.
- Hallucinations:
- Parker due to his infection. The hallucinations become more subtle and it's harder for him to tell what's real and what is fake (moreso than before) when he's injected with a Psycho Serum.
- HUNK, due to a mix-up with the Super Serum that's being tested and the placebo.
- Hangover Sensitivity: See the first quote on this page. RPD may exemplify it and make it hilarious, but other characters have also had problems with this, including Wesker. Other times, it is never brought up.
- Happiness Is Mandatory: Whenever one character is upset, the others immediately jump on trying to cheer him or her up
- Healing Factor: The sentient infected characters. How well it works and if there are any side effects varies from character to character.
- Hearing Voices: The chains...
- Heartbroken Badass: HUNK, when finding out that Quint has a thing for Jessica.
- Heel Face Turn: RPD and HUNK, sort of.
- Subverted when Wesker forces RPD to stay, in order to control his mutation.
- Heroes Want Redheads: Parker
- He Who Fights Monsters
- Hidden Depths: HUNK loves sunflowers and has several cats.
- Horror Hunger: Raw meat of whatever/whoever is nearby, Mr. Luciani?
- Hot-Blooded: Chris and Parker both veer into it.
- Hot Scientist: Excella, Bertha, and Four Eyes.
- How Do I Used Tense: There are some issues over writing in past or present tense, which causes problems when attempting to read it.
- Sometimes it is caused by drugs, alcohol, sleep deprivation, etc.
- Other times, it's caused by lack of skill with the language.
- Huge Guy, Tiny Girl
- Hybrid Overkill Avoidance: RPD
- Identity Amnesia: Sherry, after being brought back from the dead. Subverted in that she was faking.
- Ignorance Is Bliss: How the other characters treat Alyssa.
- I'll Be in My Bunk: Parker tries to do so. Excella prevents it.
- Immune to Bullets: Wesker, for the most part.
- In and Out of Character
- Incompatible Orientation: Brad is gay and has a crush on Joseph. Joseph is completely straight.
- Indy Ploy: Umbrella sending HUNK and Parker to find out information on Theta-Med.
- In the Hood: Vector
- Insecurity Camera: When the guards in facilities fail to notice people sneaking in.
- In-Series Nickname: Lupo being called "Wolfmother," Jack Norman being called "Veltro," and Raymond being called "Cadet."
- Instant Bandages: Averted. When HUNK gets injured and is bleeding out on the floor, Parker ends up ripping up his own shirt to make into bandages.
- Invincible Villain: Wesker; A major problem many of the characters have is that they are trying to find a way to permanently kill him.
- In Vino Veritas: In both alcohol and muscle relaxant variations!
- Invisibility Cloak: Vector
- Ironic Echo: "So, any idea what's going on?" (Doubles as a Shout-Out to the games.)
- It Got Worse
- It Makes Sense in Context: A lot of what happens.
- I Want Grandkids:
- Averted by Lupo to her Wolfpack. She doesn't want kids running around when the Wolfpack still has missions they need to do.
- Also averted by Excella.
- I Will Only Slow You Down: Parker early in says this trope by name.
- I Will Punish Your Friend for Your Failure: Wesker does this a lot.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: RPD
- Just a Flesh Wound: Averted by HUNK.
- Kick Them While They Are Down: Wesker does this a lot.
- Kindhearted Cat Lover: HUNK.
- Kissing Under the Influence:
- Sheva and Alexia.
- RPD/Parker.
- Billy/Hunnigan
- Knowledge Broker: Seems to be Rachel's profession.
- Lady Macbeth: Excella uses her influence over Wesker and her years of manipulative strategy to get him to do things for her - specifically punishing Jill when she threatens Excella and her unborn child, and even Steve later on in the story when he insults Excella and makes snide remarks about her pregnancy.
- Lady of War: Most of the female characters.
- Lampshade Hanging
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: Sheva Alomar at one point. She gets better, though.
- Late Arrival Spoiler: A lot of the stuff is spoiler tagged on here. Certain spoilers are even revealed in characters' profiles and descriptions.
- Law of Inverse Fertility
- The Laws and Customs of War: Wesker completely ignores it. Parker even asks him whether or not he has even heard of the Geneva Convention.
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall: "Seems that everyone keeps disappearing." A nod to how the roleplayers' schedules affect how often the characters are around, thus characters keep disappearing.
- The Parker roleplayer also puts trope names in the tags at random in story-style roleplays.
- The Excella roleplayer even mentioned Morality Chain in the story text.
- Leitmotif: Several of the roleplayers have music players on their pages that act as this.
- Leonine Contract:
- Parker ends up in one with Wesker. Wesker, naturally, has the upper hand.
- RPD also ends up in one with Wesker.
- Lima Syndrome: Lupo at the beginning of the story.
- Living Lie Detector:
- Wesker can hear the slight changes in heart rate that could be indicative of lying.
- The Load: Ashley, as per canon.
- Logical Weakness:
- Inverted with characters not being able to use flashbangs on Wesker, since he's wearing sunglasses. The same goes with RPD, since he has no eyes.
- After Parker's infection, his hearing is extremely sensitive. This includes problems with loud music and high pitches. He also loses his night vision, much like Wesker during the boss fight in Resident Evil 5 in the hanger, so he starts stumbling around and has problems when it's dark out. None of the other characters have taken advantage of this, though.
- Love Makes You Evil: Occasionally causes or continues several of the FaceHeelTurns in this roleplay.
- Rebecca.
- Parker.
- Loves the Sound of Screaming: Bertha.
- Love Triangle: Unavoidable, given all the shipping everywhere.
- Mad Scientist Laboratory
- Mama Bear: Lupo to her Wolfpack, Excella
- Married to the Job: Sergei.
- Master of Unlocking: Jill.
- The Matchmaker: Charlotte, Professional Matchmaker and Troll.
- Meaningful Name:
- RPD used to be a member of the RPD. He took on the name in honor of the officers he killed while out of control.
- Four Eyes has a licker named Chujitsuna, which means "loyal."
- Theta-Med is named after the Greek symbol Theta, referring to "time decay" in scientific shorthand.
- Rachel and Parker both have names that are connected to the Divine Comedy: Rachele and Lucia (both saints) respectively
- Bertha's last name is Heinzwaffen with "Waffen" meaning "Weapon" in German
- Charlotte's last name is a shout-out to the David Bowie song "The Bewlay Brothers" and her first name means "free man"
- Mentiroso means "liar" in Spanish.
- The Medic: Rebecca Chambers.
- Merciful Minion: Lupo, RPD, Beltway, and Four Eyes.
- Mind Control Device: P-30 injectors being used on Jill and Rebecca (who gets hers' removed). An odd sort of headband used on RPD, which turns out to be a major plot point for the Myth Arc. And an internal device used on Chris from Alex Wesker.
- Mind Screw
- Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal
- Mood Swinger: Sheva. It even gets a Lampshade Hanging from Joseph in-story.
- Mood Whiplash
- Morality Chain: Excella fulfills this role for Wesker.
- Morality Kitchen Sink
- Morning Sickness: Excella
- Mister Seahorse: Brought up at one point by Sergei as a joke, saying that Parker's possibly carrying Nemesis's child, due to what Nemesis has been implied as doing to him. Then it gets brought up again by an anon. Eventually Sergei and Parker discuss the concept as a whole. The reason given for why Parker would actually be worried has to do with how Nemesis may have Bizarre Alien Biology.
- Mr. Vice Guy: RPD
- Mugged for Disguise: Sheva and Leon pull this off.
- Multinational Team: The Wolfpack and the BSAA both fall under this.
- Multipurpose Tongue: RPD
- Murderers Are Rapists: Averted.
- Myth Arc: Some plot threads are implied to be like this. More specifically:
- "The Let's Kill Wesker" arc.
- And the BOW army with control devices arc.
- Stuff involving a massive outbreak and/or Alex Wesker seem to now be on the table.
- Nature Abhors a Virgin: Rebecca thinks being a virgin makes her a loser. Others say she will find the 'right one' eventually.
- Naughty Tentacles: Nemesis has them.
- Never Gets Drunk: Beltway and Wesker (it takes a lot to get them drunk).
- New Age Retro Hippie: Parker gets a lot of jokes pertaining to it. It has a lot to do with the long hair and the flower incident.
- The Nicknamer: Quint
- Nigh Invulnerable: Wesker
- Ninja Zombie Pirate Robot: RPD- A sentient, bipedal Licker with genitalia who chain-smokes, drinks heavily, and is a total smartass.
- Nobody Over 50 Is Gay: Averted. Nicholai, Sergei, and for people who haven't played Revelations yet, Veltro are gay.
- Nobody Poops
- No Control Group: Zig-zagged. Due to a mix-up, both Parker (who is supposed to get the real serum) and HUNK (who was supposed to get a placebo) end up getting the serum. This is implied to be a complete accident.
- Noodle Incident
- No One Gets Left Behind: Josh's credo when it comes to saving people.
- Non-Action Guy: Charlotte.
- Nonuniform Uniform: The Wolfpack
- No Periods, Period: Despite the story going on for several months in the timeline, many of the female characters don't make reference to them being on their periods. It's justified with Excella, since she's pregnant. This is averted with Bertha and Lupo, though.
- Not Even Bothering with the Accent: Played straight with most of the roleplayers (See Funetik Aksent entry above)
- Not Himself: Never a good sign on any of the characters.
- Nothing Is Scarier
- The Not Love Interest: Excella's relationship with Wesker.
- Not So Different/ Just Like Us: Both sides give that impression.
- NSFW: Things under the "Read More" tag are this. Except when they're really Revelations spoilers. Now that it's been over a month since Revelations came out, spoilers are not hidden.
- Not So Harmless: Veltro
- Obligatory War Crime Scene: Beltway and Rebecca end up shooting a bunch of civilians for no reason.
- Onion Tears: Mentioned in passing by Leon.
- OOC Is Serious Business
- Otaku: Four Eyes displays some traits, given that she normally spends her time researching in an underground lab.
- The Other Darrin: The Billy roleplayer, Jessica roleplayer, Sheva roleplayer, Beltway roleplayer, Four-Eyes roleplayer, Ashley roleplayer, Leon roleplayer, and the Wesker roleplayer changed in the course of the story.
- Out, Damned Spot!: RPD is triggered into this when HUNK is bleeding all over him.
- Out of Order
- Overranked Soldier: Parker is a zig-zagged case. He's a normal soldier, but he's normally assigned to higher-priority missions. It's played straighter by him starting to lose his sanity, yet still being sent out on missions.
- People Puppets: Chris (before his reboot) and RPD.
- Poison Is Evil: Lupo uses a rare poison on Leon.
- Politically-Incorrect Villain: Veltro is very jingoistic and homophobic.
- Pop-Cultured Badass: Quint, like in Canon.
- Professor Guinea Pig: Parker sites this as the reason he infected himself to Wesker. In reality, he was doing it to preserve a sample of the virus so they could finally kill Wesker by making a cure.
- Psycho Serum: The serum tested on Parker and HUNK causes hallucinations.
- Punch Clock Villain: Subverted with Lupo. Like in Canon, she works for Umbrella so she can provide for her family.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Wesker and Parker.
- Real Men Get Shot: Joked about repeatedly.
- Real Time: Aside from certain story arcs, the whole roleplay falls under this. There has been talk of stopping this, so that there aren't problems with certain storylines.
- Engineer Exploited For Evil/Mad Scientist: Four Eyes. This is a reference to her ORC profile, in which she just cares about researching For Science!, to the point that she'll end up impeding missions in the Canon.
- The Resenter: Four Eyes resents how Wesker limits her research. Wesker doesn't want her studying and learning about one of his weaknesses, thus why he limited her in the first place.
- Reset Button: Certain characters have gotten reboots (such as Chris, due to certain plotline issues; others are rebooted due to characters changing writers [Wesker is the exception, due to how involved he was with many of the plotlines]). The plotline catalogued here is actually a reboot itself.
- Retcon: Occasionally needed to deal with plotholes and shifts in the story.
- Revealing Coverup: The police station evidence room gets blown up.
- Rule of Three:
- There are three major villains (Wesker, Alex, and Norman).
- Parker joins Wesker three times.
- RPD gets into three curb stomp battles with Wesker and loses each time.
- Sacred Hospitality: RPD follows this rule.
- Sadistic Choice: Wesker is fond of causing these.
- Sanity Has Advantages: Invoked by Parker [dead link] in a discussion between him and Lupo on the subject.
- Say My Name: Used often.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Rachel invokes this when she states outright that she refuses to take part in the plan to kill Wesker.
- Screw Yourself: Alfred literally does this with a clone of himself.
- Secret Relationship: Parker's relationship with Four-Eyes. They decide to keep it a secret so she won't be harassed by Anons or the rest of the Wolfpack. Later, he and Raymond seem to have the same thing going for them, since they're both in the closet about their actual sexualities. (Raymond is gay and Parker is bisexual.)
- Seme/Uke: Averted. Sergei/Nicholai (nicknamed Sergolai by the roleplayers) does not have this dynamic and the Raymond and Parker roleplayers are intentionally averting it.
- Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Parker and whoever he's with. This gets lampshaded a lot. Despite this, though, he's still the guy that eats Hunters.
- Sex God: According to Alfred, who put footage of Parker and Raymond having sex up on the internet, Parker is this and even has a cult following.
- Sex Is Violence: The whole premise of Keith and Bertha's relationship
- Shipper on Deck: Parker spends some time trying to get Quint and HUNK, and Chris and Jill together. Charlie ends up setting up Parker and Raymond. Unlike Parker's efforts though, Charlie's plan works.
- Shout-Out: Holy crap...
- Ghostbusters: RPD really likes the movie.
- Doctor Who:
- Non-canon crack roleplays between Parker and Four Eyes where they have adventures with the TARDIS.
- And the plotline of the main story being referred to as "Let's Kill Wesker."
- "Every worm has his weak spot."
- Each of the Resident Evil games.
- Some of the beta information from Resident Evil 3.5 ends up recycled for someone's infected character.
- A plotline based off of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
- A plotline based off of Resident Evil 3.5's premise, including the hallucinations.
- Men in Black
- Lord of the Rings
- The Producers
- Excella quotes [dead link] Darth Vader.
- You Keep Using That Word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
- The Lion King: Alyssa refers to a zombie tropical bird as Zazu.
- The Legend of Zelda: A new BOW, described as a cross between an Ooze and a Licker with a long tail and extra claws is named a Dodongo, due to how it's hide is very tough and needs to be force-fed explosives to kill it.
- The Bible: RPD makes reference to it, to insult Wesker's god complex. Sergei makes allusions to the Four Horsemen, thinking that Wesker would be Pestilence and he would be War. Raymond quotes Matthew 7.1-2 [dead link] at Veltro.
- Avenue Q: Parker makes reference to it, saying if Raymond says something about having a girlfriend named Alberta who lives in Vancouver, that it would be sad, even for him.
- The opera l'elisir d'amore.
- The names of certain BOWs being based on creatures from the Divine Comedy.
- Shower Scene:
- Between Claire and Leon
- Between Raymond and Parker
- Sir Swearsalot: RPD
- Sliding Scale of Undead Regeneration: Varies on the infected. Traditional zombies fall under Type 1, while most of the BOWs, RPD, Wesker, and Parker fall under Type 4.
- Slasher Smile: Wesker and Parker when his infection takes over.
- Somebody Else's Problem: Parker lying on the sidewalk, dealing with a fever and losing consciousness, gets completely ignored by passersby. This would be based off of Truth In Television examples of the trope.
- Spooky Silent Library: Despite it normally being deserted and can be spooky, it's actually a good place to catch one's breath.
- Squad Nickname: The Wolfpack is the nickname for USS Delta Team, like in Canon.
- Stalker with a Crush: Quint does this to Jessica, as per Canon.
- Standard Evil Empire Hierarchy
- Stop or I Shoot Myself: RPD does this when he is confronted by Wesker.
- Story Arc
- Strange Bedfellows: The BSAA, STARS, and members of Umbrella, including the USS team, fighting against Wesker.
- Suddenly Sober
- Super Soldier: One of the Plot Threads involves Umbrella wanting to create an army of BOWs that are fitted with mind control devices.
- Surveillance as the Plot Demands: Earlier in the story.
- Tainted Veins: Chris while mind-controlled.
- Talking in Your Sleep: Four Eyes
- Team Chef: Lupo
- Team Mom / Team Dad: Lupo and Parker both fulfill this for their groups.
- Team Prima Donna: Excella and Hunnigan (Rachel is almost always on the receiving end).
- Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Some of the Wolfpack really dislike Wesker.
- And the BSAA members, STARS members, and USS members possibly working together to kill Wesker.
- There Are No Therapists
- This Is Your Brain on Evil
- Those Two Guys
- Through the Eyes of Madness: It's hard to tell what is real and what is hallucinations in a plotline between HUNK and Parker, where both characters are hallucinating due to a serum.
- Timey-Wimey Ball: Non-time travel example. Depending on who you ask, the timeline will be different in certain places and in overall length (how many days passed between specific events). Chat RPs are normally considered canon, but it's hard to place them on the canon timeline.
- Too Dumb to Live: Anons
- Trademark Favorite Food:
- RPD loves jello. He even steals some from HUNK when HUNK was in the hospital due to gunshot wounds.
- Four Eyes eats tacos. Justified in-story as Lupo being the only member of the Wolfpack who can cook and tacos being the only thing Four Eyes can prepare without burning it.
- Excella really loves waffles.
- Hunnigan and ice cream and/or alcohol.
- HUNK mentions that after missions, he likes to have chinese food.
- Raymond loves Nutella.
- Transparent Closet: Veltro and Raymond.
- Trigger Happy: Jessica
- Troper Works: There are three tropers who are roleplayers.
- Two Lines, No Waiting: Multiple plot threads with different characters, all going on at roughly the same time.
- Universal Driver's License: Averted. Parker does not have an international or US drivers' license. (It was implied by the roleplayer, since he walks everywhere or occasionally accepts rides to places.) It becomes a plot point, since Sherry tries to divert Alyssa from a story by claiming Parker got into a car crash. Alyssa double checked and found out he didn't have a license and the car in the story wasn't hotwired or reported stolen.
- Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Certain roleplayers use this trope, while other roleplayers bring up how civilians would act, making this both played straight and averted.
- Utopia Justifies the Means: Wesker
- Vampire Vords: Bertha
- Villainesses Want Heroes:
- Four Eyes
- Gender inverted with Beltway
- Villainous Demotivator
- Villains Out Shopping: Depending on their relationships the Wolfpack or Umbrella operatives hanging out with BSAA and unaffiliated characters and watching movies or going to bars can count as this.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: Quint and Keith are Type 2
- Volleying Insults: Keith and Bertha constantly snark at one another
- Wacky Cravings: Excella occasionally has these.
- Wacky Fratboy Hijinks: Several characters go out drinking together and all hell breaks loose: Vector sets up a stripper pole in Hunnigan's bedroom; Rachel ends up on a fire escape, being sprayed by her neighbor; Keith gets picked up by Quint before things get out of hand; Forest wakes up in his own bed for once, and Hunnigan does unmentionable things with Vector and her new pole.
- Wall Crawl: RPD, due to being a Licker.
- Wall of Text: Some posts
- Wanton Cruelty to the Common Comma: Occasionally, due to typos.
- Weapon of Choice
- We Have to Get the Bullet Out: HUNK ends up removing a bullet from Parker's leg.
- Well, Excuse Me, Princess!: Keith says this to Bertha after she insults the BSAA.
- What Could Have Been: Excella and Sergei were going to have an RP where they eventually devolved into complaining about Wesker. They didn't for a time, because this trope page exists. They eventually did go back and do the plotline.
- Due to characters being reset, there are shades of this.
- Due to the various improvisational aspects of certain plotlines and plot twists, there are a lot of times where this could be employed.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Sometimes things get dropped for no reason.
- What Is Evil?: Excella brings up this up.
- What Measure Is a Mook?: Played straight, particularly with most of the Umbrella affiliated characters. They don't care about killing civilians or guards. Averted with several characters, notably RPD and Parker (due to moral reasons) and HUNK (due to how hard it normally is to hide the bodies on a mission).
- What Measure Is a Non-Human?: RPD has problems with this. Certain people he regularly interacts with, like HUNK and Parker, treat him as human. Others, such as several of the scientists and Wesker, treat him as nothing more than an experiment and a weapon.
- Where the Hell Is Springfield?
- Wicked Cultured: Both Excella and Wesker exemplify this, but mainly Excella. Being raised in Milan, Excella has an extensive knowledge of classical Italian literature, art, and music. This adds to her charm and makes her manipulative powers even more effective. She has also been credited to wearing expensive designer clothing and always having a professional, yet elegant appearance.
- Sergei Vladimir has a very poetic internal monologue, hinting at this trope.
- Veltro has Divine Comedy references throughout his dialogue.
- With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Parker is slowly losing his mind.
- Workaholic: Sergei and Four Eyes.
- Would Hit a Girl: Keith, if they really go out of their way to piss him off.
- Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Jill and Parker
- Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: A necessity for all the roleplayers. Unexpected plot twists help this along.
- Written-In Absence: Characters note when another character is gone for a long while.
- Xanatos Speed Chess
- You Go, Girl!: Forest uses a variation of this often.
- You Have Got to Be Kidding Me!: Employed by Bertha. Often.
- Your Door Was Open: RPD's response when Bertha catches him snooping around her room.
