Here be spoilers. Any thing that has not been aired on the free version[1] of Crunchyroll should be spoiler-tagged.

Killer Bee

I float... like a butterfly. And sting like a bee! 'Cause I'm the Eight-Tailed Beast!

Voiced by: Hisao Egawa (JP), Catero Colbert (EN)

Host of the Eight-Tailed Ox and brother of the Raikage. A dark-skinned, light-haired muscular man with a penchant for rapping.

Sasuke's Team Hawk, sent to capture his tailed beast, engaged him in battle, but he easily kicks their asses and beats the ever-loving shit out of Sasuke. He then transformed into his full Ox form, but Sasuke subdued it with Amaterasu -- or so it seemed. Turns out Bee pulled a fast one on him, making them all look like idiots. He then goes off to take a vacation. The Raikage was pretty pissed about that. Now he's hanging out (actually on exile for security reasons) on an island with Naruto, whose attempts to get Bee to train him have thus far have them working well together, BY THE POWER OF RAP! (though it had to involve a Big Damn Heroes moment for the both of them with some old wounds of Bee's having to mend).

For tropes associated with the Eight-Tails, go to the Tailed-Beasts page.

  • The Ace: Arguably, given that each of the chapters he appears in without fail has had him doing something awesome, funny, or both.
    • And is therefore one of the best examples of this trope done right, since he's a Fan-Favorite instead of a Scrappy despite being The Ace.
  • Adult Child: In the middle of a serious meeting on military matters, he's seen not paying any attention and scrawling down song lyrics -- looking absurdly similar to a bored high school kid scribbling and not paying attention to class.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Averted. He's about as well-liked as they come. the previous sentence only applies after he's grown up. Played straight when he was a kid, though.
  • Animal Battle Aura: Which is a Bull with Combat Tentacles of course.
  • Badass: And HOLY SHIT HOW. In fact, he's so badass, that he became A's Brother by being able to perform a perfect Double Lariat with him when he was a kid. And he even overpowered him in a clash.
  • Bash Brothers: With A. Even though they aren't bros by blood.
  • Beyond the Impossible: He uses seven blades, without his hands. He can transform into his biju without going nuts. As in, the full on eight tailed giant monster version and stay conscious.
  • Boisterous Bruiser
  • Bunny Ears Lawyer: A Cloudcuckoolander rapper who aspires to be an enka singer. He also happens to be one the strongest characters introduced in the series.
  • Child Prodigy
  • Cloudcuckoolander: If you have an extremely powerful demonic entity inside of you, and it is significantly more rational and sane than you are, you qualify for this trope.
  • Cool Shades
  • Cool Sword: Has seven! Later 8 when he receives the Samehada
  • Darkskinned Blonde: White in the manga, but tinted yellow in the Anime.
  • Everything's Better with Spinning: One of his maneuvers while using all swords at once is to spin like a top.
  • Excuse Me While I Multitask: Frequently battles while in the middle of rapping, and sometimes even pauses to write down lyrics.
  • Flight, Strength, Heart: In addition to standard tailed beast host powers, his special power is salivating ink.
  • Friend to All Living Things: On the island of giant beasts, he starts by fist-bumping with a giant Gorilla and goes from there. Taken to its extreme when Killer Bee tries to comfort freaking Samehada after it forces Kisame to separate from it because Kisame had been forcing it to go against its will. Remember that Samehada is generally regarded to be at least partially demonic.
  • Ignore the Fanservice: Naruto's Sexy No Jutsu had knocked out even the third hokage and never let him down before...but when he tries to use it to convince Bee to help him out, Bee just shuts the door.
    • Later on, he is distracted by the sexiness of Tsunade's giant cans. And the fact that she doesn't wear a bra.
    • Even later he is distracted by Yugito's (who is now an animated corpse puppet controlled by Tobi) exposed chest and doesn't notice the chakra receivers implanted there.
  • Image Song: Well, not exactly an official image song per se, but the Shippuden UNS Generations comes with an exclusive song for Killer Bee sung by the voice actor himself (both English and Japanese VA's) And. It. Is. Awesome. (and Hilarious, depending on your opinion)
  • Intergenerational Friendship: With Naruto.
  • Leeroy Jenkins : Invoked in-universe and the Alliance actively tried to Defy it, but ultimately failed.
  • Let's Get Dangerous: There's no way this rapping ninja could be danger... HOLY SHIT! Did he just gut Sasuke like a fish?
  • Lightning Bruiser
  • Made of Iron: The guy pretty much shrugs off, in order, a flying kick to the head, electrocution, and a jet-propelled, superhumanly strong fist to the face which left a dust cloud in which he was able to escape without noticeably slowing down. Heck, even his seal-acting tattoo says 'tetsu', which means 'iron'!
  • Won't Work On Me: Twice against Sasuke, first played straight, then subverted: when Sasuke uses his apparently unblockable Chidori Sword on him, he happily blocks it, much to Sasuke and his teammates' surprise. Later Sasuke cast a Tsukiyomi on him, and falls to the ground, unconscious...only to almost kill Sasuke in one hit after letting his guard down.
  • The Obi-Wan: Now serving this role to Naruto, and is actually more balanced and powerful than him in many ways to avoid Mentor Occupational Hazard. Although he has none of the gravitas.
  • Painful Rhyme: Played for Laughs as it is frequently pointed out in-universe that his rapping skills don't quite match his fighting ones. Although some of his rhymes or puns are surprisingly well-thought (the translators do a rather good job with it too).

"Kikiude janakutemo, ki… kiku. Kiki da yo!" ("Even though it's not your good arm it… it works. I'm in trouble!")

  • Partial Transformation
  • Punny Name: He's probably called "Killer Bee" because the Japanese words for "bee" and "eight" are homophones. In addition, his brother the Raikage is named A.
  • Scarf of Asskicking
  • Scary Black Man
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Although the Eight Tails is fairly benevolent now.
  • Shock and Awe: Can channel electricity into his swords.
  • Shout-Out: To Jero, the unlikely African-American enka singer. When you think of Japanese postwar love ballads, you usually don't think of dudes wearing hip hop clothing (or rapping ninjas, for that matter.)
  • Spanner in the Works: He ends up massively throwing Akatsuki and Sasuke's plans out of whack. It's rather hilarious.
  • Superpower Lottery: Becomes more apparent with each chapter; Bee is one of only four characters in the entire series that has the ability to control the Tailed Beast, (he's also one of the only two that is currently living). Also, being a Jinchuuriki at that, it allows him him to control the 8-Tail's chakra perfectly. Due to this, he's also completely immune to Genjutsu, not to mention he's also a Lightning Bruiser.
  • Symbiotic Possession: One of the few to actually get along with his Tailed Beast.
  • Uncle Tomfoolery: Subverted in that even when his antics are played for humor, he's far from incompetent.
  • Verbal Tic: Tends to finish most of his lines of speech with "baby" and/or "Oh Yeah!"
  • Vibroweapon: Can turn any weapon into this by using that electricity to vibrate it at a high frequency. Even pencils.

Fourth Raikage

Voiced By: Hideaki Tezuka (JP) Beau Billingslea (EN)

Real name: A. The leader of the Cloud Village and Killer Bee's older brother.

When he hears of Killer Bee's apparent demise at the hand of Akatsuki and Sasuke Uchiha, he calls a meeting of the Kages and sends Team Samui to the Leaf Village to inform them and request intel on Sasuke. While on the way to the meeting, Naruto talks to him and pleads for him to give mercy to Sasuke, but the Raikage ignores him. During the meeting he emphasizes that his village is the only one which has had no attachment to Akatsuki, but also causes a ruckus when he smashes part of the table and objects to Mifune nominating Danzo to lead the forces against Akatsuki. When Zetsu's white half interrupts with news that Sasuke is in the building, he promptly grabs him by the neck and strangles him until he loses consciousness. He then heads out with his bodyguards to confront Sasuke, and proceeds to knock Jugo unconscious and attack Sasuke even when it costs him his arm to do so, and would have killed them both if Gaara hadn't intervened.

Is currently serving as Supreme Commander of the Allied Shinobi Forces.

Darui

Voiced By: Ryota Takeuchi (JP) Ogie Banks (EN)

A high ranking Cloud-nin and the Raikage's bodyguard. He is appointed as general of the 1st Division of the Allied Shinobi Forces.

C

Voiced By: Kenji Fukuda (JP) Vic Mignogna (EN)

Another high rank Cloud-nin and the Raikage's other bodyguard. He is assigned to the Sensor Division to help co-ordinate intelligence in the Fourth Shinobi World War

Samui

Voiced By: Hikari Yono (JP)

One of Killer Bee's students and the leader of their three-man cell. Currently serving in the First Division of the Allied Shinobi Forces, but got sealed away by Ginkaku.

  • Big Breasts, Big Deal: Type 3. She didn't even blink when Omoi called on it.
  • Bob Haircut
  • Cool Sword
  • Faux Action Girl: Despite being a respected kunoichi in the Cloud, she didn't do anything in the Fourth Ninja War and was defeated pretty quickly, though not as fast as her brother. Of course, she was fighting characters way above her level.
  • Ice Queen: Her personality and name. Also "cool" is her favorite word and how she was trapped by the Kinkaku brothers
  • Closer to Earth
  • Meaningful Name: It means "cool" which so happens to be her favorite word.
  • Power Blonde
  • The Stoic: She makes Shino seem excited. She barely emotes in all her appearances and she was the only one to not react with the news of Killer Bee being captured by Akatsuki, or even his return.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Taken to extreme levels with her brother Atsui.
  • Team Mom
  • Worf Effect: Against Ginkaku and Kinkaku. She was supposed to be the best student of Killer Bee and a deadly ninja but it took little time to bring her down and show how badass these two zombie criminals really are.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: As far as we know she and her brother are still in the gourd

Karui

Voiced By: Yuka Komatsu (JP)

Another of Killer Bee's students, a somewhat hot-tempered kunoichi swordswoman. Currently serving in the 2nd Division of the Allied Shinobi Forces.

Omoi

Voiced By: Kunihiro Kawamoto (JP)

Killer Bee's third student, who worries about many things. Currently serves in the Surprise Attack Division, and helped take down the resurrected Sasori and Deidera.

Yugito Nii

Voiced By: Mie Sonozaki (JP) Wendee Lee (EN)

The host of the Two-Tailed Monster Cat, a jonin of Kumogakure, who has since been captured and killed by Akatsuki in a mostly unseen battle. But Kabuto later resurrects her with Edo Tensei.

Kinkaku and Ginkaku

Warriors of Kumogakure from the Second-Third Great Ninja War revived by Kabuto to fight in the Fourth Ninja War. They're known as the Two lights, but are also remembered as the Hidden Cloud's most reviled criminals for the attempted coup they made during negotiations with the Hidden Leaf. They are among the strongest opponents that Darui's Division face, but Ginkaku is taken out by Darui and a Nine-Tails powered Kinkaku is defeated by Shikamaru and Choji(who provided backup from Gaara's Division) along with Ino(Joining them from the Fifth Division) using their famed Ino-Shika-Cho Formation.

  • Animal Battle Aura: Kinkaku is able to summon a biju-cloak.
  • Badass: Beside wielding 4 out of the Five Legendary Weapons and possessing gigantic Chakra reserves, they were devoured by the Nine Tailed Fox and not only managed to survive for two weeks but ripped part of its chakra to their own.
    • By eating its stomach meat at that! To add more, it was recently mentioned no one else has ever survived consuming the chakra flesh of a a Bijuu, not least the Nine-Tails.
  • Bash Brothers
  • Braids, Beads, and Buckskins: Wear stereotypical Native-American headresses.
  • Calling Your Attacks: "Curse him, Seven Star Sword! Record, Crimson Gourd!"
  • Cool Sword: The Seven Star Sword.
  • Horned Humanoid: Although it may be part of their headdresses.
  • Facial Markings: The exact same ones Naruto has. This is due to eating the 9-tails flesh of course.
  • Fallen Heroes: Revered by the Hidden Cloud Village, but they are also remembered as the Hidden Cloud's most reviled criminals due to their attempted coup when the Second Hokage and Second Raikage were meeting for a formal alliance. Its implied they where responsible for the death of the Second Hokage.
  • Feathered Fan of Doom: The Banana Palm Fan which gives them access to all Elemental Powers.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Ginkaku gets sealed away inside his own gourd.
  • Public Domain Character: Pretty much everything about them is based on the characters of the same names from Journey to the West, Including the host of Public Domain Artifact's.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Even without Edo Tensei's regenerative powers, the two were so amazingly powerful that the most practical way to bet them off the battlefield was simply to use their own magic jars against them to seal them away.
  • Sibling Team
  • Spanner in the Works: When Ginkaku is sealed away, Kinkaku explodes in rage and goes 4-Tails. Naruto, being the 9-Tails' real host, senses this through the otherwise-chakra-blocking barrier that the Alliance are keeping him & Killer-Bee distracted in. This sparks Naruto's curiosity enough that he eventually goes to check out what's going on, fights through the guards meant to confine him, finds out about the war going on outside, and teams up with Bee to bust through the forces keeping them contained. In short: Kinkaku's transformation ruined the Five Kage's plans to keep Bee & Naruto out of the fight.
  • Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth: They were too unruly to let something as silly as being devoured for two weeks by the strongest bijuu to stop them or even slow them down.
  • Your Soul Is Mine

Third Raikage

The previous Raikage, father of the Fourth and considered one of the mightiest Ninjas to had ever lived. Died during the Third War by stopping an army of 10,000 Ninjas for three days, allowing his subordinates to escape safely. Known only in flashbacks of A and Killer Bee's childhood. Revived with Edo Tensei and fighting the second front in the 4 Ninja War along with Nidaime Tsuchikage, Yondaime Kazekage and Nidaime Mizukage. Faced most of the Fourth Division and was destroying them, until Naruto showed up and has a moment of opportunity that causes the Raikage to impale himself.
