Most Triumphant Example (Sugar Wiki)/S
This is simply what you think is the (not some of the, the) best example of any trope (an objective trope, not subjective, since this already is subjective). The "Crowning Example" if you will.
There could be several reasons you think an example is the best.
- You thinks it's the best in terms of illustrating the trope.
- You think it's the most well done.
- It's your favorite play in that trope.
- You just really like the source material.
Oh, and each troper gets one example per trope, no more. Also, don't go "no, this is," or phrases like that. This is about our own personal favorites. ---
Please list tropes alphabetically.
- Sacrificial Lion
- Digimon Each season of the Anime, Leomon dies. Rumor has it, that that Leomon in the background of the final fight of 02 is the same Leomon as Adventure, and despite the all the Digimon that come to help fight never do anything, that Leomon still dies.

- Sarcastic Clapping
- "Oh, thank you, Beowulf, for coming to save us poor pathetic Danes."
- Mortal Kombat: Raiden, when he points out to the heroes that there are even MORE Mooks to beat up. (They had just finished beating a good number of them and were somewhat tired out.)
- Oh, good. My slow clap processor made it into this thing. So we have that.
- -Seconded

- Halo is the king of this when it comes to absolutely monumental alien architecture.
- Okami, aka Scenery Porn: The Game. My eyes are glued to the screen for every Cutscene.
- Dresden Codak has some crazy sceneries
- Probably not quite my pick in terms of "raw pretty," but Bethesda Softworks managed to take the city of Washington, D.C., shower it in nuclear bombs, and still make it oddly beautiful, all the while fully subverting the Real Is Brown effect exhibited by not quite half of the other areas in the game. That takes talent.[1]
- Mass Effect 2. Look out the window and admire the futuristic elegance of Illium or the filthy, gritty beauty of Omega, and you'll be too distracted by the scenery to focus on the mission. This game manages to make each place seem much bigger than it is and perfectly evokes the atmosphere of every location, from the ship junkyard Korlus to the prison ship Purgatory.
- Scenery Gorn

- School Uniforms Are the New Black
- Season 10 of Degrassi. Really? Nobody wears a regular T-shirt under the school polo and takes the latter off as soon as they leave the building? Nobody? This in a school where the uniform was introduced in the middle of a school year as punishment for a few students' bad behavior, in a country where they are by no means the norm? Really?

- Scorchio to Light in Death Note
- Seinfeldian Conversation
- Self-Proclaimed Liar
- Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Elim Garak, hands down: even in-universe, his ability for obfuscation is legend. And the best thing is, because everyone expects him to lie about everything (and he actively encourages everyone to believe this), it means no-one can tell which lies are the important ones!
Worf: "But why all the deception?"
Garak: "Because lying is a skill like any other and to maintain a level of excellence, one must practice it constantly."
- Sentient Phlebotinum
- Sequel Hook
- From Kick-Ass "A world of Superheroes, huh? Well, as a great man once said, Wait'll they get a load of Me."
- Sequelitis
- Jaws:The Revenge. The first movie has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes while this has a rating of 0% rating on RT. It simply CAN NOT get any worse than that.
- Highlander. Hell, Highlander II the Quickening ALONE is enough to qualify it. -ZuulMF
- The Land Before Time
- Serial Killer Killer
- Light Yagami - duh1177
- Dexter Morgan - Two Gun Angel
- Serial Escalation
- Asura's Wrath. Even though the game hasn't come out, the sheer types of different gameplay, the scale, the amount of strength, determination, and power the main character has, everything about it takes the Action Genre of video games to a completely new level of ridiculousness.

- Shameless Self Promotion
- This Troper wants you to check out his page!
- Sharing a Body
- Sora of Kingdom Hearts. Not only has he housed Ventus's heart since he was a small child, but he had Kairi's for most of the first game. Finally, in addition to Ven, he also has Roxas (and Xion by proxy) and possibly even Vanitas calling his body home.
- Jeez, if he charged rent, he'd be a millionaire.
- Yugi
- Sora of Kingdom Hearts. Not only has he housed Ventus's heart since he was a small child, but he had Kairi's for most of the first game. Finally, in addition to Ven, he also has Roxas (and Xion by proxy) and possibly even Vanitas calling his body home.
- Shipping
- Judging by the trope pictures in Ship-to-Ship Combat, Launcher of a Thousand Ships and Fan-Preferred Couple (not to mention the page quote for Ship Tease), I'm going to have to say Avatar: The Last Airbender. Not sure if that's a good thing, though.
- iCarly takes the vitriol of the Avatar community, takes away the artistic side of things, then pumps up the online fandom war up to eleven, then stretches it out over the last four years, with no end in sight until probably 2012.
- Naruto.
- Though, generally, not as fierce or dedicated to protecting their ships, Golden Sun fans are notable in their ability to ship everything with everything. This isn't limited to living things either. Rule of thumb is it it's a person, place, animal, thing or concept which was at least mentioned once, it has at least 3 shipping partners. Fun examples include Isaac with the roof he spent 3 years repairing, some characters with their psychic powers or weapons and Kraden with himself. - Flash Cutter
- Harry Potter. Just... Harry Potter.
- Homestuck, if only for the fact that there are 4 different ways to ship one character with another.

- Slap-On-The-Wrist Nuke
- Sepiroth's Supernova attack from Final Fantasy VII must be the Most Triumphant Example of this one: a two-minute long attack that calls down a ball of energy (or something) from outside the galaxy, vaporises Pluto, destroys the rings of Saturn, punches a hole clean through Jupiter (which explodes) and makes the Sun go nova, swallowing Mercury and Venus and reducing the Earth to chunks of rock. This is worse than the disaster the heroes are trying to prevent, but the gameplay mechanics mean it just can't kill the characters, and can even miss - so he gets another go at destroying the Solar System all over again later.
- Slap Slap Kiss
- Pride and Prejudice.
- Since Pride and Prejudice is a bad example, let me put forth Sam and Diane

- Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism:
- Idealism: Disney.
- Cynicism: Warhammer 40,000.
- Sliding Scale of Silliness Versus Seriousness
- Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. It goes back and forth enough to give you whiplash. One episode goes a water gun fight, a few episodes later a fight to the death on top of a school that will explode with the smallest spark. between the same characters mind you.
- Elfen Lied is also all over the damn place. It mixes a lot of silliness with a very tragic story, yet even the tragedy's premises are often absolutely ridiculous (mainly due to Bullying The Dragons repeatedly - rottenvenetic

- Don Van Vliet, aka Captain Beefheart; think Pablo Picasso meets Eric Cartman, with a dash of Boll. Granted, he could back up some of his claims, but that still didn't stop him from being a egotistical jerk.

- Kanna in Eternal Fighter Zero, at the highest difficulty level.
- Gill and Seth
- Soul Calibur 3: Chronicles of the Sword. The entire mini-game is like this.
- Tabuu
- Rugal Bernstein Unlike the rest of the suggested people though, just because he's an SNK Boss - and one with several incarnations - that doesn't make him universally hated. Plus, you know, he's the Trope Codifier
- Alpha-152 of Dead or Alive 4. In a game based on melee combos and grapples, this T-1000 with breasts can hit you from across the screen with a lightning-fast, unblockable attack that knocks off about half your life bar. And that's just one move in her frustratingly broken arsenal. The trick seems to be that she becomes mysteriously incompetent in one battle out of every twenty; you just have to wait until it happens.

- Those fucking Elder Thing bastards
- The Mgalekgolo ("Hunters")
- Any and all aliens ever conceived by HP Lovecraft.
- Stay in the Kitchen
- The Powerpuff Girls episode "Members Only" may be Anvilicious, but you can't deny that Major Glory's (particularly harsh) speech captures the essence of this trope perfectly.
"We are the men! The protectors, the hunters, the fighters, and the show-offs, and the noisemakers! You are little girls! You should be at home with your mommy learning how to cook and clean and... blah-blah-blah-blah-blah-whatever women stuff. So leave the superheroics to the super men!"

- By God, Girl Genius, even if they prefer "Gaslamp Fantasy".
- Fullmetal Alchemist
- Vernian Process.
- Doctor Steel
- The Difference Engine, by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling. Not a particularly good book, but damned if it doesn't exemplify the genre.
- Stellar Name
- Stellaluna, from the children's book of the same name.
- A Streetcar Named Desire: HEY, STELLAAAAAAAAA!
- Sailor Moon?

- Season 1 of Avatar: The Last Airbender
- Stern Teacher
- Izumi Curtis, so very much, especially her response to learning that Ed and Al tried to resurrect their mother is to give them a thorough beating until they can barely stand, giving her most pissed-off expression. Then when they're kneeling before her submissivly, eyes closed and preparing for verbal punishment, she tenderly and comfortingly embraces them - Caellach Tiger Eye
- Stock Footage
- Invasion of the Neptune Men. Well, maybe "triumphant" is the wrong word. "Obvious", "oblivious", "Egregious", "Godwin-tastic"...

- The response to someone enjoying Guitar Hero or Rock Band.
- Invisible to Gaydar
- Omar Little is quite possibly the most Badass gay character ever put in fiction.
- Gus Duncz, who was based on Broderick Crawford.
- Kurogane.
- Strangled by the Red String
- Degrassi the Next Generation: Spinner and Emma, who barely even INTERACTED before their Accidental Marriage.
- Atlanta Nights
- Stripperific
- Winx Club. The funny thing is that is a show aimed at 6-12 year old girls.
- Strong Family Resemblance
- Matthew. Seriously, many have mistaken him for his dad, and the game isn't even out yet!
- It is now, and seconded.
- "You look just like James... except you have Lily's eyes." User:Carla, User:Unclouded TJ

- Stupid Evil
- Genma from the second season of Darker than Black who literally does every single thing mentioned in the description of how such a character acts. Note that this is only a Twelve-Episode Anime and he doesn't even appear in all episodes. - Jordan
- Sasuke. Shooting your own medic just so you can kill your enemy strangling her? Yeah, that's clever.
- The Pawnee in Dances with Wolves. They attack a white settlement...despite being allied with the United States!
- Stupid Good
- Stylistic Suck
- Excel-2009. Dexter's Laboratory, episode "Dexter & Computress Get Mandark!!" It was written and narrated by a six and a half-year-old and animated to match, down to every meandering tic the narrative takes. As this is essentially a poorly narrated Fanfic given visual form by the creators, this also possibly predates more than a few dramatic readings of badly written Fanfics.
- Ansem Paul All of Peter Chimera's fanfics, especially Digimon 2:Return of Digimon and the 2nd chapther of Half Life Quarter Way to destruction
- Hero Klungo Saves Teh World
- The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra
- Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff.
- DOOM HOUSE. Between the script, the Bad Bad Acting, Lowtax's delivery, clothes changing and props moving in a highly noticeable manner, and the excessive use of the Sunglass Pull, it's less a film than it is an experience.
- Subsystem Damage
- Dwarf Fortress, obviously. Name one other game that tracks individual fingers, toes, hair, tissue layers, internal organs, and teeth on every living creature in the entire game world. You can't.
- Subverted Kids Show

- Hello, this is Samuel. I can control people's mind, biatches.
- The Martian Manhunter. Seriously. Even Superman must be jealous of all the superpowers he has.
- Sosuke Aizen, everyone?
- Yakumo Yukari
- Doesn't see- *Boundary betwene acceptance and rejection manipulated over to acceptance* SECONDED
- Fiamma. He can do anything symbolically related to the right hand. Anything. One of the characters even compared it to having an instant win button.
- In a verse full of broken characters, Ryougi Shiki's alternate personality takes the cake. She is the Anthropomorphic Personification of Akasha, the origin of all things, and is capable of destroying or recreating any aspect of the universe at will.
- Nagato Yuki - phone me when you can hack whatever you want, including the entire Universe
- Super Robot
- Leaning toward GaoGaiGar over TTGL here, because it pretty much embodies the entire genre. Intentionally. Much of it in the title mecha itself.
- Getter Robo checks the most traits on the trope page. It's my choice.
- Honorable mention to Getter Robo since it really is the most super of them all, but I have to go with Mazinger Z. It is still to this day the measuring stick for all other super robot series, as well as my favorite cartoon since childhood.
- Seconded. I also choose Mazinger Z, although the entire Mazinger trilogy, Getter Robo and the Romance Robot Trilogy also deserve a honorable mention
- District 9

- Dune's Litany against fear.
I must not fear
Fear is the mind-killer
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration
I will face my fear
I will permit it to pass over me and through me
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing
Only I will remain.

- Batman. Period.
- The Doctor, post-Time War.
- Surreal Music Video
- "Bad Romance." There's a reason it's the single most-watched video on YouTube.
- Born This Way takes GaGa's surreal antics to a whole new level.
- YOU! I WANNA TAKE YA TO A Gay Bar!
- "Bad Romance." There's a reason it's the single most-watched video on YouTube.
- Suspiciously Similar Substitute
- Jonathan Creek is one of the "best" examples, but not really in a good way. Over the course of the series, he had three female partners, all forms of Intrepid Reporter and all having a Slap Slap Kiss relationship with him. The original, Maddie, was notably not conventionally attractive, which wasn't true of her replacements, and was also a rather more complex, sympathetic character.
- Suspiciously Specific Denial
- Marshall Eriksen. Every single time he lies it's this.
- Nope. Definitely not Speedo.
- Sweater Girl
- Lori at the end of Tron.
- "Lonely End of the Rink", by The Tragically Hip

- Sword Beam
- Sword of Plot Advancement
- The Master Sword. Pretty much every time it shows up, to boot.
- ↑ It helps that they are headquartered near the area and know enough about it to make the city small enough for a video game and yet nail little details like the architectural styles of certain neighborhoods.
