Major Characters in Radiant Dawn

Micaiah

The main character of the second game. A resistance fighter in the Begnion-oppressed Daein, she becomes something of a Messiah over the course of the game. It's revealed in the final act that she is actually the true Apostle and sister of the current empress of Begnion, Sanaki.

Class: Light Mage -> Light Sage -> Light Priestess (Radiant Dawn)
Voiced by: Natsuko Kuwatani (Japanese, Radiant Dawn), Lani Minella (English, Radiant Dawn)


  • Birthmark of Destiny: Notable even among the branded. Micaiah's brand marks her as the true Apostle.
  • The Chosen One: How Daein and others see her to be, due to her Healing Hands and having been able to free the country from Begnion's slavery. Dips a little into Dark Messiah territory, due to doing some dark things in the later part of the game.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Is in posession of the Darkness affinity. Despite this, she wields light magic and healing staves and is one of the kindest things this side of Tellius... as long as your name is not Ike, that is.
    • Her class in Awakening (as DLC) is "Dark Mage". Though this is only due to there being no Light Magic in Awakening.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She has a few smarmy lines in the beginning, but it eventually stops as the tone darkens.
  • Decoy Protagonist: Served a big role in regaining Daein's self rule in Part 1, but by Part 3-4, Ike became a more evident leader and, Micaiah became nothing more than a host for Yune to talk through.
  • Distress Ball: She catches it a few times. Micaiah: needs to be rescued by Sothe in the first cinematic scene when mooks grab her Standard Female Grab Area; needs broken out of jail - by Sothe again - after walking into a trap in the 1-4; requires rescue by the Black Knight when she walks off by herself, falls asleep, and gets surrounded by enemies in 1-9; and gives up hope ("Ugh... They're so powerful... Are we... destined to perish here?") only to be once again rescued and inspired by the Black Knight in 4-3.
  • Eyes of Gold
  • Friend to All Living Things: Again, unless your name is Ike. Though she eventually does soften up to him.
  • Hair Decorations: Wears a blue scarf in her hair in Part 1.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: She's a heron branded, specifically descended from Lehran and Altina.
  • Healing Hands: Her Sacrifice ability, which is Cast from Hit Points. It's this power that makes her so much of a Messiah to Daein.
  • The High Queen: Becomes Queen of Daein in the Where Are They Now? Epilogue.
  • La RĂ©sistance: Member of the Dawn Brigade, the only group fighting back against the Begnion Occupation Army.
  • Light'Em Up: The only unit in the Tellius series who can use Light magic in the first Tier.
  • Line-of-Sight Name: Word of God claims this was the origin of the "Dawn Brigade" name.
  • Mayfly-December Romance: With Sothe, since as a Branded, with heron blood no less, she'll most likely live for centuries.
  • Meaningful Name: Micaiah is a variant of "Michael", which means "Who Is Like God?". Michael, the Archangel, is the commander of God's armies in Jewish and Christian lore, and often stated to be the angel that is closest to him. Fitting, as Micaiah is co-general of Yune's army with Ike, is the one who harbors Yune within her, and is the true Apostle of Begnion, which means she is capable of hearing the voice of the goddesses.
  • The Messiah: How Daein and others see her to be, due to her Healing Hands and having been able to free the country from Begnion's slavery. Dips a little into Dark Messiah, due to doing some very un-messiah like things in the later part of the game.
  • My Country, Right or Wrong: To the extreme that she will go against her own morals in order to protect Daein, even if it means she has to partake in genocide to do so. Fan Dumb criticizes her for this, and to some degree, they are right. Then again, it's not like the Blood Pact left Daein much choice...
  • Mysterious Past: Not a whole lot is said about her past. We learn a few things, like she was found by an old woman who raised her and told her about her Brand and that she was practically Sothe's mom, big sister and nanny for nearly his whole life, but that's not really much. Being a Branded, older than she looks and not even given a proper age range, it can be sometimes weird to think she has to be at least 23 years old if it weren't for the fact that she's wise beyond her apparent years.
  • Necessary Evil: She was not really evil, ever, but she is forced to carry out several questionable and at one time horrifying acts during Part 3, no thanks to the Blood Pact, which has Pelleas', and by extension Micaiah's, hands tied. These acts include, but are not limited to setting up an ambush for the laguz army as they attempt to cross a large river, trapping the army in a valley as they retreat and committing genocide by burning them alive and attempting to shoot down and killing Empress Sanaki, who is, neither to Micaiah's nor Sanaki's knowledge, her little sister. There is a reason this game is Darker and Edgier: War Is Hell.
  • Official Couple: With Sothe if their automatic A-support is any indication.
  • Older Than They Look: A side effect of being Branded. She was old enough that she raised Sothe like a mother, which would mean she is at the very least ten years older then he is during Radiant Dawn. Micaiah is stated to have been born prior to her grandmother's murder, giving her a minimum age of twenty-three, yet looks as if she is in her early to mid teens.
  • Physical God: Subverted. Guessing if Micaiah becomes something likes this or not by harboring Yune descends into WMG, but the enemies in Part 4 are all under the belief she is Yune incarnate.
  • Pillar of Light: Her personal Thani tome, which is the magic version of Armorslayers/Hammers and Horseslayers combined. With their already low Resistance, watch her one-shot those classes early on.
  • Rags to Royalty: Two types at once.
  • Red Mage: After promotion, she can use both offensive and healing magic.
  • The Revolution Will Not Be Vilified: The Begnion Occupation Army are horrible to the citizens of Daein, and she's one of the few who fight back.
  • Secret Legacy
  • Squishy Wizard: Arguably the best example in the series, due to her tragically low HP and Speed.
  • Take a Third Option: How you can choose to save Pelleas from the New Game+ second playthrough onwards.
  • Taking the Bullet: This is how she can prevent Pelleas' death.
  • Vague Age: She's old enough that she looked after Sothe when he was really little, but she still has to be young enough to be Sanaki's sister. Given the weird chronology, she has to be at least 23 years old by the time Radiant Dawn starts. At least.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Way more so than any other Fire Emblem protagonist. She flirts with a certain event horizon of morality for the good of her nation so much, it's a wonder she doesn't make the leap into full-blown Dark Messiah.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • She let Jarod go because she figured he was going to bury his friend. Psyche! The Black Knight calls her out on this, but respects her decision nonetheless.
    • Also, while it doesn't happen to her face, Ike and his company are positively shocked by the lengths she goes to in order to protect Daein, particularly her use of boiling oil against Crimea's pegasus knights.
  • White-Haired Pretty Girl

Sothe (Saza)

A stowaway thief searching for Micaiah in the first game. Took a level in badass in the second.

Class: Thief (Path of Radiance), Rogue -> Whisper (Radiant Dawn)
Voiced by: Kazutaka Ishii (Japanese, Radiant Dawn), ??? (English, Radiant Dawn)


Micaiah: "Lord Ike, hero of the Crimean Liberation, leader of the Greil Mercenaries, and father of Sothe's children."

  • Jerkass Facade: In Path of Radiance, he's hesitant to get close to anyone and tends to gives an extra cold shoulder to make sure they get the message.
  • Knife Nut: Uses knives as his only weapons.
  • Master of Unlocking: As per his class. In Path of Radiance, if for some reason you don't like Volke lightening your wallet to pick a lock, Sothe will do it for free.
  • Mr. Fanservice
  • Official Couple: With Micaiah. Not to say that you can't ruin the set-up.
  • Only Sane Man: In Radiant Dawn... AND HOW! He is the only character who sees through Izuka's scheme to use Micaiah as a figurehead for the revolution, the only one who openly challenges Micaiah's and Pelleas' authority whenever they do anything that's outlandishly dickish (regardless of whether it helps Daein or not), and he's the only one who seems to realise that Begnion is just using Daien as a sacrificial pawn before the Wham! Episode. Unfortunately, everyone around him is intentionally or otherwise carrying Idiot Balls, which leads to him becoming very snarky and dickish about it.
  • The Southpaw: All of Sothe's official artwork depicts him wielding a dagger left-handed.
  • Supporting Protagonist: In Radiant Dawn.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In Path of Radiance, he couldn't promote, leveled slowly, and was prone to death. In Radiant Dawn, he's buff, taller and stronger. He's much more useful. At least in Part 1.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Although there are very very good reasons for that.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He immediately calls out Micaiah for Daein's sudden inclusion to the Laguz Alliance war, not only for fighting with the same country that oppressed them after the Mad King's war, but for 'laguz hunting' when they were evidently friends with them.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years
  • World of Cardboard Speech: If he fights Dheginsea.

Sothe: I won't live as long as you have, and I'll never be as powerful. Things like saving the world and fighting goddesses are just beyond me. They're out of my reach. That's why I've always chosen to fight for the smaller things in life and the people close to me. If that means I have to fight you to protect them, then so be it.

    • And again if he fights Sephiran.

Sothe: I can't read people's feelings like Micaiah... I'm not invincible in battle like Ike... Between all these laguz kings and great beorc heroes, I don't really belong here.
Sephiran: Then why are you here?
Sothe: Because there's one thing I can't afford to lose. Micaiah. I've come all this way just to protect her... I won't lose her now.

Pelleas

The supposed Prince of Daein; should you choose to spare him, he is eventually revealed to not be Ashanard's heir or even a true branded, but merely a spirit charmer chosen by Izuka for his plans. If he is spared, he willingly gives up the throne to Micaiah, and stays in the Senate to support her.

Sanaki Kirsch Altina

The Apostle of Begnion, who joins the Dawn Brigade in the last act of Radiant Dawn.

Class: Empress (Radiant Dawn)


  • Action Girl
  • Badass Adorable: Can use almost every type of magic, while being adorably Moe.
  • Badass Long Hair: In the sequel [dead link] .
  • Blow You Away: Can use wind magic with a maximum of S Rank.
  • Bunny Ears Lawyer: Yanking the heroes around in the first game out of sheer boredom, forcing Naesala to carry her onto the battlefield in the Part 3 Endgame of Radiant Dawn, threatening to have Sephiran drowned in rancid butter for treason... yeah, she's a tad eccentric. Doesn't stop her from repeatedly thwarting the ministrations of the corrupt Begnion senators.
  • A Child Shall Lead Them: She was made apostle at the age of five. She's also among the youngest player characters, as she's ten in Path of Radiance and thirteen in Radiant Dawn.
  • Compliment Backfire: She tries to tread lightly when talking to Micaiah's possessor. Doesn't work.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: Her preferred punishment for treason is dunking in rancid butter.
  • Eyes of Gold
  • Forgiveness: She doesn't hesitate to go down on her knees and beg for it to Reyson, on behalf of the Serene Forest massacre.
  • Glass Cannon: Her stat and cap for magic is fantastic, as well as the spell book she has on her by default. But she has the constitution of soaking wet tissue paper. It's justified though: she is still a kid.
  • Guile Heroine: She was taught by Sephiran after all.
  • Internal Reformist: Eventually revealed to be her motivation in Path of Radiance and uses Ike and co. to do the dirty work for her. Radiant Dawn, however, reveals that she was ultimately unsuccessful.
  • Light'Em Up: She can use light magic with a maximum of S Rank.
  • Long-Lost Relative: Micaiah's her older sister, right down to the ability to hear the goddess.
  • Magikarp Power: Though she's still pretty powerful in her own right when she's first usable.
  • Playing with Fire: Her element of choice. She's got a customized Fire tome, and she can reach an SS Rank with Fire.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Is shown to be a good ruler, and she sees the Laguz as equals and seeks to finally elimiate Laguz slavery. She is also shown to be ready to help the Daein Liberation Army once she is made aware of the Occupation Army's actions.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: She fights alongside your other units in Part 4.
  • Shock and Awe: Able to use Thunder magic as well, at a maximum of S Rank.
  • Squishy Wizard: One attack will most likely defeat her, and her HP cap is distressingly low. Likewise to her enemies, whatever she dishes out will be very devastating, with her high Magic stat.
  • The Unchosen One: As an apostle, she is gifted to hear the voice of the goddess. She never did, and made the excuse that she wasn't of age yet to herself, yet when Lekain calls her out on that, she begins to doubt herself as a true leader, and eventually finds out in the end it was her sister Micaiah who is the true Apostle. She later questions Sigurn and Tanith if they would question her as a suitable ruler if she could never hear the goddess. It wouldn't change a thing for them.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Being raised by Sigrun and Sephiran may have had something to do with that.
    • We still get reminders that she's a child, however, especially in Path of Radiance, when she yanks Elincia and Ike around because she's bored. Ike is not amused.

Elincia: So... you knew we were coming. You knew who we were all along.
Sanaki: Yes. I apologize for testing you. You see, life here in the palace is dreadfully dull. I am always so very bored. Thanks to the princess and her brazen little escort, this interrogation proved to be an amusing diversion.

Sigrun

Apostle Sanaki's bodyguard and the commander of the Holy Guard. Soft spoken and kind and one of the few Begnion Nobles to see Laguz as equals.

Class: Falcon Knight -> Seraph Knight (Radiant Dawn)


Skrimir

The nephew of Gallia's King, who passed trials-by-battle to earn the right to succeed Caineghis. Hot-Blooded doesn't begin to describe him.

Class: Lion (Radiant Dawn)
Voiced by: Teruyuki Tanzawa (Japanese, Radiant Dawn), James A. Parker (English, Radiant Dawn)


  • Abhorrent Admirer: After Soren proves his worth as a tactician in 3-3, Skrimir becomes very fond of him, much to Soren's displeasure.

Skrimir: Ah, here comes the great strategist! Don't be so shy. Come sit next to me.
Soren: Not if you begged me, Skrimir. (pointedly sits next to Ike)

  • Break the Haughty: He lost a good deal of confidence and self-esteem after being thrashed by General Zelgius in a one-on-one duel.
  • Honor Before Reason: The reason behind his character development.
  • Hot-Blooded: Incredibly so, and remains such even after he loses his duel with Zelgius.
  • Large and In Charge: Since Caineghis can't leave Gallia's capital unattended and Giffca is off doing "other duties" (whatever the hell those are), Skrimir was the only logical choice to lead the war effort, and it's just as well since it's quickly apparent that he has a lot of learning to do before becoming king.
  • Large Ham: "Advance! Advance! Advance!"
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Early in Part 3, he's prepared to make a suicidal charge into the Begnion Central Army. Ranulf has to break Skrimir's leg in a semi-cutscene Curb Stomp Battle sequence to make him think twice.
  • Leitmotif: "Skrimir's Pride".
  • No Sense of Direction: In 3-8, Ranulf explains that there are two exits to the Kauku Caves, the burning underground hellhole they'll have to navigate to escape Zelgius: one way that leads into Gallia (safety), and the other into Goldoa (no-man's-land of dragon Laguz and certain death). Go on, guess which one Skrimir stumbles upon first and leads everyone into.
  • Warrior Prince: Next in line for the throne of Gallia, and enjoys fighting.

Nailah (Nike)

Queen of Hatari, supports the Dawn Brigade throughout the game.

Class: Wolf Queen (Radiant Dawn)


Kurthnaga

Prince of the Dragon Tribe, works with the Dawn Brigade against his father's orders to protect his sister and nephew.

Class: Dragon Prince (Radiant Dawn), Pilgrim (when he appears as an NPC in chapter 1-3)


  • Afraid of Blood: Part of why he hates violence so much. The sight of Ike's bloody sword after a battle is enough to drive him up the wall.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Towards Almedha, his older sister. They are siblings. Not only that, he's Soren's uncle.
  • Cutscene Power to the Max: Alas, prepare to be underwhelmed when he joins you at the end or when you can fight him at the end of Part 3.
  • Interface Spoiler: He has awfully good stats for a pacifist just traveling abroad when he appears onscreen in Part 1, notably his HP of 55.
  • King Incognito: In Part 1 of Radiant Dawn.
  • Magikarp Power: He starts out a bit weak compared to the rest of your units, but with a little training, he can be an immensely useful unit.
  • Mythology Gag: His name: it's a combination of Naga, the Divine Dragon God of the Akaneia and Jugdral games, and of Kurth, a plot-driving character who bears Naga holy blood in Genealogy of the Holy War.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Most players of Path of Radiance should immediately recognize him when he appears as a wandering pilgrim named Kurth in Part 1.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Like all Black Dragon tribe members.
  • Wave Motion Gun: His breath is powerful enough to cause a castle tower to come crashing down.


Caineghis

King of Gallia and the Beast Tribe. Badass doesn't even begin to describe him.

Minor Characters in Radiant Dawn

Note: A lot of characters are rather Flat Character, largely due to a change in the games' mechanics.

Edward (Eddie)

Class: Myrmidon -> Swordmaster -> Trueblade (Radiant Dawn)


  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: Despite having good growths, Edward gets off to a crappy start where he's more likely to take axes to the face instead of dodging them... if he should be gang rushed by several enemies in succession, you can probably kiss the kid goodbye. It's perhaps even worse once he's at low health and Wrath kicks in, allowing him to go on a killing spree but also allowing enemies to invoke this trope. In short, don't use Edward to block a chokepoint, he'll just die.
  • Demoted to Extra: After the first couple of chapters.
  • Expy He's pretty much a male version of Mia.
  • Fragile Speedster
  • Glass Cannon: Good Strength, Skill and Speed, but relies heavily on his health to take a hit.
  • Heartwarming Orphan: Maintains his cheerful denomer despite not having ever known his parents.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords
  • Hot-Blooded: Maybe
  • Keet: From what little development he gets, he might just be this.
  • Those Two Guys: With Leonardo.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: Believes he can take back Daein with his own two hands and a sharp blade. Leonardo is quick to point out how unrealistic this dream is, and to Edward's credit, he concedes that this is mostly just a goal to work towards.

Nolan (Noyce)

Class: Fighter -> Warrior -> Reaver (Radiant Dawn)


  • An Axe to Grind
  • Badass Beard: Has a goatee, and is one of the better Dawn Brigade members.
  • Cool Old Guy: Easily the oldest member of the Dawn Brigade. He looks to be in his mid-30's while the rest of the Dawn Brigade looks to be in their late teens or early twenties at most.
  • Crutch Character: Starts at twice as high a level as Edward and Leonardo, and (especially in Hard/Maniac mode) is instrumental in keeping the gang alive through the early chapters. His good growths keep him useful all throughout the game as well.
  • Demoted to Extra:
  • Restored My Faith in Humanity: Loses in his trust in his fellow man after he loses his fortune to treacherous associates. The Jerkass status of the occupation army causes him to muster the will power to give any damns back.
  • Team Dad: He gives advice to the younger members of the Dawn Brigade in every Base Conversation he's in.

Leonardo

Class: Archer -> Sniper -> Marksman (Radiant Dawn)


Laura

Class: Priest -> Bishop -> Saint (Radiant Dawn)


  • Can't Catch Up: Due to the structure of the game and her status as a low-level healer, it takes a lot of time and effort to get her to promote, though unless you're specifically trying to train her, it's usually not necessary.
  • Light'Em Up: After promotion.
  • Nice Girl: Seems like one.
  • White Magician Girl: The only cleric the Dawn Brigade gets.

Aran (Brad)

A childhood friend of Laura who ends up getting mixed up with the Daein occupation army.

Class: Soldier -> Halberdier -> Sentinel (Radiant Dawn)


  • Blade on a Stick: He'll only be able to wield lances.
  • Demoted to Extra: More or less soon after recruitment.
  • Informed Flaw: The epilogue mentions that he was valued for his honest but clumsy work, but is never shown to be particularly clumsy.
  • Mighty Glacier: Has the best Strength and Defense growth in his group, as well as great Skill, but his Speed tends to lag. It can be fixed (somewhat) with Bonus EXP and some luck though.

Meg

Brom's daughter, she travels to Daein in search of her alleged fiancee Zihark.

Class: Armor Sword -> Sword General -> Marshall (Radiant Dawn)


Volug (Orugh)

A wolf laguz from Hatari and the loyal attendant of Queen Nailah.

Class: Wolf (Radiant Dawn)


  • Achilles' Heel: Fire Magic, like all other Beast Laguz, can be quite troublesome to him.
  • Big Badass Wolf
  • Bilingual Bonus: Some of his lines are quite funny, but they're all in Ancient Tongue.
  • But Thou Must!:
  • Crutch Character: He's killing everything in two hits when he joins in 1-4, and spends all of Part 1 perma-transformed. In return, he's lucky to get more than 1 EXP a kill and his stat boosts from transforming are only half as good as they are normally, due to the Halfshift skill you can't remove. By about 1-8, the enemies start to catch up with his handicap, and in Part 3, you'll need to devote some valuable resources to him to keep him useful.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Although it goes mostly unnoticed, thanks to the language barrier.
  • Demoted to Extra: After Part 1.
  • Extreme Omnivore: One of his support lines is "...Hey. You ever wonder what would happen if I just ate everyone we fought? Would the rest keep fighting?".
  • Mr. Fanservice
  • Not So Stoic: Much like Leanne, he only appears to be stoic due the language barrier. If you translate some of his supports, you'll realize that he's actually quite sociable and doesn't really like the fact that hardly anyone can understand him.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: He doesn't wear a shirt when not in wolf form.

Fiona (Frieda)

Class: Lance Knight -> Lance Paladin -> Silver Knight (Radiant Dawn)


  • Action Girl <- -> Faux Action Girl: If you work at it, she can be a competent unit, but she comes in underleveled and at a point in the game where being a non-flying mounted unit is a hindrance, and the next four chapters have her heavily burdened in movement (one of which has her literally unusable, even), so it's often better to just bench her.
  • Asskicking Equals Authority: How she ultimately attained her office: her father Lanvega was one of the Four Great Riders.
  • Blade on a Stick: Can only uses lances until she promotes into Silver Knight.
  • Can't Catch Up: Fiona has good growths, brings two excellent skills and also has the amazing Earth Affinity. Sounds awesome, right? Well, it all means squat for Fiona as her base stats are absolute rubbish. Not only that, she can only participate in 2 chapters before Part 1 ends and even in said chapters her movement is decreased, severely hindering her class' biggest selling point... and that goes double for the Dawn Brigade's first chapter in Part 3, where she legitimately cannot progress past a certain point on the map. It's very difficult to train her without either killing her, abusing staff wielding enemies or dumping mounds of Bonus Experience into her. Even after the effort is invested, the payoff can be chancey.
  • Defector From Decadence: Twice. She never joined Ashnard's war effort in Crimea (a fact Jarod makes a point of passive-aggressively rubbing in), but cooperated with Begnion during the occupation... up until seeing civilians getting skewered on a whim and used as hostages convinced Fiona and her knights to mutiny.
  • Disappeared Dad: Well, he is dead, yet we never get to see what Lanvega even looked like.
  • Healing Factor: Comes with the Imbue skill and a relatively high Magic stat.
  • Stone Wall: Her growths favor this role. Whether she levels up to it is up to you.

Vika (Vize)

A raven and a member of the Laguz Emancipation Army along with Tormod and Muarim.

Class: Raven (Radiant Dawn)


  • Achilles' Heel: Assuming anything hits her once she's trained, bows and crossbows are the most likely things to do any real amount of damage. Definitely not Wind magic though: her weakness is all but negated by her incredible Resistance, so where your main non-magic units might take ~20 damage from a standard spell at this point, Vika takes about as much from aggravated Wind damage. Other spells bounce off harmlessly.
  • Flat Character: Her bio in the Library and one base conversation is all the development she gets.
  • Fragile Speedster: At the point that you get her, most laguz can finish off a beorc enemy in a single turn; Vika often can't. When she rejoins late in the game drastically underleveled, she'll be lucky to do more than a couple of damage per attack (and it may take some BEXP to even make that much possible), yet she remains useful due to her ability to dodge just about everything.
  • Magikarp Power: Played strangely. She's a good enough unit, but over-leveled when she first appears, and under-leveled when you get her back. It'll take some planning and sacrifices to bring her back up to par, but once she reaches higher levels, she can even match Naesala (with the exception of the latter's Formshift ability).
  • Winged Humanoid: She's a raven laguz, so obviously.

Rafiel

A prince of Serenes and the older brother of Reyson and Leanne. He spent much of the past 20 years in Hatari with Queen Nailah, with whom he has a close relationship. He lost the use of wings due to a traumatic incident in the past and cannot fly.

Class: Heron (Radiant Dawn)


  • Bishounen: Like all herons, he's very pretty.
  • Broken Angel: His wings are unusable due to an injury that happened some time before the game starts.
  • Happiness in Slavery: His backstory reveals that he was bought as a slave by Hetzel, but he took care of him and planned to return him back to the forest. They even had a kind of friendship, but then the Serenes Forest incident happened.
  • Rapunzel Hair: Common to all known Herons. His is past his knees.
  • Winged Humanoid: He's a bird laguz, though his wings are broken.

Leanne

A princess of Serenes and the younger sister of Reyson and Rafiel. After the Serenes Massacre, she remained asleep in the Serenes Forest for twenty years until Ike found her, and because of this, she can only speak the Ancient Language.

An old chamberlain of Kilvas who raised Naesala and guards Leanne.

Kyza (Kysha)

Class: Tiger (Radiant Dawn)


  • Ambiguously Gay: May be either. Supplementary material reveals that Kyza is indeed attracted to Ranulf and sees Lyre as a romantic rival. However, Kyza uses female pronouns and speech patters in the Japanese version, and while this is normally a Japanese stereotype of Camp Gay characters, the 20th anniversary encyclopedia describes him as "the body is male but the heart is female?". It's difficult to say though because Kyza is Out of Focus in the game.
  • Don't Feed the Troll: It works.
  • Flat Character
  • Satellite Character: His personality is pretty much "loyal to Ranulf" ...and that's it.

Lyre

A Gallian soldier and Lethe's younger sister.

Class: Cat (Radiant Dawn)


Gareth (Gorto)

A Goldoan dragon and one of Kurthnaga's aides.

Class: Red Dragon (Radiant Dawn)


  • Crippling Overspecialization: An almost entirely physical attacker with very low magic defense. That attack power is quite high, but he joins during the last two battles inhabited by nothing but Mages.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Could be seen about a third of the game in protecting Kurthnaga in Path Of Radiance.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: Like Nasir, he refuses to leave Dheginsea's side in the Endgame, but Gareth's quite conflicted about it considering he was Kuthnaga's bodyguard. Rendered moot once Dheginsea is defeated and he orders Gareth to join Ike's group.
  • Satellite Character: See Kyza. Gareth is even worse about this: in Path of Radiance, he appears for all of five minutes and one early cutscene, utters exactly five syllables, and is then never seen or heard from again until three fights before the end of Radiant Dawn. Geez.
