Fire Emblem: Awakening/Characters
The Lords
Chrom
The first and foremost main character of the game, Chrom is the Prince of the Holy Kingodm of Iris and a descendant of the Holy King who defeated the Evil Dragon Gimle. Although royalty, he serves as Captain of the vigilante force to keep his country at peace, and when suspicious activity is happening in the enemy nation of Perezia, he decides to investigate. He wields his nation's treasured sword, the Binding Blade "Falchion".
Class: Lord
- Accidental Pervert: In their B support, Chrom walks in on a female My Unit naked.
- Battle Couple: Can be paired with Sumia, Mariabel, Soiree, Olivia or Female My Unit.
- Heroes Prefer Swords:
- Plus Blade on a Stick after promotion.
- The Hero: The central character that the story revolves around.
- The Hero Dies: Spoiler Opening.
- Faking the Dead: How things work out in the main game. "I'm changing fate!"
- Heroic Lineage: A distant descendant of Marth's, though the series most plays up his relation to the First Exalt, on whom little is known.
- Hot Dad: Of Lucina and the mother's children.
- Mark of Naga: On his shoulder.
- Older and Wiser/Older Than They Look: Chrom most notably looks more like an adult than a teenager. Time will tell if he's the first Emblem lord who's all grown up since Sigurd or whether it's just down to the art style.
- Royal Rapier: Another tradition for Fire Emblem lords... although it's not his primary weapon.
- Royals Who Actually Do Something: Chrom insists on leading the army's most dangerous missions, much to the anxiety of his advisors.
- Screw Destiny: His first sample clip on the official site is him saying "I'm changing fate". Contrast Fauder's line.
- Sleeves Are for Wimps: He appears to wear them after he promotes though.
- Spell My Name with an "S": Crom, Krom and Chrome are all valid interpretations of the male lead's name.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Which his children will inherit.
My Unit (default: Rufure)
Another main hero of the game, whose identity and name is crafted by the player. At the beginning of the game, My Unit is lying unconscious on the roadside, when they are rescued by Chrom's vigilante force. Despite losing their memory, My Unit has great knowledge of fighting battles and serves as the vigilantes' tactician.
Class: Strategist
- Accidental Pervert: Inverted in a Female My Unit's A support with Chrom, where she walks in on a naked Krom.
- Audience Surrogate: Obviously.
- Badass: Pretty much goes without speaking.
- Badass Bookworm/Genius Bruiser: You are the vigilante group's tactician.
- Badass Longcoat: Wears a black coat/duster with a hood.
- Battle Couple: Can be paired with any playable unit of the opposite sex.
- Character Customization: From the Avatar's appearance and voice to their actual class, the possibilities are pretty expansive .
- Chick Magnet/Dude Magnet: My Unit is confirmed to be able to hook up with ANY of the playable characters, provided their of the opposite gender.
- Demonic Possession: In the Spoiler Opening.
- Did You Just Romance Cthulu?: You can hook up with Tiki, whose a Person of Mass Destruction that her mother Naga had to put her into Deep Sleep to prevent her from degenerating into madness like all the other dragons. Her power is so tremendous that if she goes wild, the world will be destroyed.
- It's also possible to pair them up with the Spotpass characters, including Gangrel and Valhart.
- Elemental Powers: Able to wield magic tomes.
- Hello, Insert Name Here: Likely.
- Heroes Prefer Swords: The only melee weapon My Unit is able the wield as a Strategist are swords.
- Heroic Mime: Strangely enough, you're given the option to make them one.
- Hero Without: Gimle's.
- Hot Dad/Hot Mom: Of Morgan.
- In the Hood: In some the CG cut scenes, no doubt due to the number of variations in his/her appearance presenting a logistical nightmare otherwise. In others, like what looks like the first one, things are shown from his/her perspective to avoid looking at him/her at all.
- Jekyll Plays Hyde: In the main game.
- Launcher of a Thousand Ships: In-universe! S/he can marry anyone.
- Magic Knight: Is able to wield swords and magic.
- Magikarp Power: My Unit isn't a guaranteed Game Breaker like in the previous game. The Strategist class starts out with stats and growth rates slightly weaker than the Lord class. However, by branching into different classes will allow you to learn their class skills and equip them when you class change back.
- Mark of the Beast: On the back of his/her hand. Yes, it is related to Gimle.
- Mission Control: His role within the army. He is, however, also a certified Badass in combat.
- One-Man Army: Can potentially become this if you got the time. My Unit has to the ability the class change into any non-exclusive class and learn their skills. With the right skill setups, you can one-shot enemies and dodge enemies like a bullet timer.
- The Strategist: Both his starting class and his role within the army. He's also a tactician though.
- This Loser Is You: Completely inverted. Not only does My Unit have a special class and is the first true Magic Knight since Judgral, but s/he can also get paired with Chrom and Sumia, and even have kids. Way to go, stud!
- Zettai Ryouiki: Female My Unit as a Grandmaster appears to have some.
"Marth" Lucina
A swordsman who claims to be the Hero King of ages long past. He wields another Falchion, a blade once thought to be unique, and appears during Chrom's hour of need. She is actually Chrom's daughter from the future, and the reason she wears the mask is to hide the mark of Naga on her eye.
Class: Lord
- Action Girl
- Anti-Hero: Type 3. Is actually a type 2 once she stops impersonating Marth.
- Char Clone
- Cry Cute: A teary reunion with her father.
- Heroic BSOD: Goes into one when the main game catches up with the interlude.
- Kid From the Future: The first of many in this game. Not only that, but like everyone else, she can get her own kid from the future (Morgan) if she marries the Avatar.
- Luke, You Are My Father: She's Chrom's daughter. The blue hair is not coincidental.
- Mark of Naga: On her eye.
- Mysterious Protector: "Marth" protects both Lissa and Chrom on separate occasions, both times declining to reveal her true identity.
- Samus Is a Girl: As Lucina proves, it is not difficult for a woman to impersonate the male Marth.
- Set Right What Once Went Wrong: Time traveling to prevent the apocalypse.
- Shrouded in Myth: "Marth" prefers to reveal as little about himself as possible, leading others to speculate where he came from and why he fights.
- Sweet Polly Oliver
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair
Playable characters
Lissa
Chrom's sister and the Princess of the Holy Kingdom of Iris. She is a member of Chrom's vigilante force and a staff-wielding Cleric. Although she appears to be naive of worldly goings-ons and sometimes acts like a spoiled princess, she is kind deep inside.
Class: Cleric
- Anime Hair: The hair of her pigtails seem to curl in rather bizarre directions.
- An Axe to Grind: Unbelieveably, she can be an axe-wielder if you promote her to Battle Cleric!
- Battle Ballgown: The metal frame under her skirt seems to also be designed for protective purposes.
- Bodyguard Crush: If paired with Lonn'qu.
- Girl with Psycho Weapon: A young girl with an axe as a War Cleric.
- Hot Mom: Of Owain.
- Magic Knight: Although Lissa's Strength is rather low, it's not that low, and her Speed and Skill are decent, so War Cleric is not a bad choice for her. Gameplay-wise, whether or not you promote Lissa into a War Cleric or Sage depends on whether or not you want a Glass Cannon or a more balanced unit. Bolt Axes fix her issues with Strength, as well.
- Mark of Naga: She has one, but we don't know where it is.
- Muscles Are Meaningless: The only explanation as to HOW she's able to even carry an axe, given her figure. However, her strength growth is shown be rather low.
- Nice Hat: Buttons.
- Spoiled Sweet
- White Mage/Staff Chick: What she starts out as with being a Cleric.
Fredrick
A knight serving the Holy Kingdom of Iris. He supports Chrom as his deputy in the vigilante force. Calm and collected, Frederick prefers guiding others.
Class: Great Knight
- Badass in a Nice Suit: Wears a suit underneath his armor.
- Crutch Character: Though of the Oifey archetype.
- The Lancer: Provides the cautious, matter-of-fact voice of reason to balance Chrom's trusting and open-hearted leadership.
- The Mentor: He prefers to guide others.
Sumia
A member of the vigilante force. She is a klutz and feels that she isn't up to the job because of it. Possesses the mysterious ability to understand the feelings of animals.
Class: Pegasus Knight
- Armor-Piercing Slap: Delivers a big one to Chrom.
- Blade on a Stick: She even gets Lance Expert as a Falcon Knight.
- Magic Knight: Gains tomes along with Lances if promoted to Dark Pegasus.
- Hot Mom: Of Cynthia.
- The Klutz
- Official Couple: Possibly with Chrom given that she has the highest auto-marriage priority with him (meaning if he's not married by Chapter 11 and two girls have equal supports with him, she takes precedence).
Kellam
An armoured knight who serves the vigilante force. He shoulders the vigilantes' defences, but is sorely lacking in presence and isn't noticed even among his fighting peers.
Class: Armor Knight
- Blade on a Stick: His default selection of weapon as a Knight.
- Butt Monkey: His first appearance in an issue of Famitsu was spent demonstrating different death quotes between classic and casual mode. Poor guy.
- The Generic Guy
- Impossibly Cool Clothes: For a certain value of "cool", but certainly "impossible".
- Mighty Glacier
- Spell My Name with an "S": For some reason, "Cullum" quickly became a widely circulated translation of his name after his existence was revealed. It isn't even a real name, nor does it match up particularly well with the katakana.
Lon'qu
A swordsman from the Kingdom of Feria, located to the north of Iris. His skill with the sword is undeniable, but not so much with his skill with women. The reason for this is that his first friend was a young girl his age. She would be killed by bandits, and he developed gynophobia because of his inability to do anything to help her, always believing that any woman who gets close to him is bound to be killed.
Class: Myrmidon
- Cannot Talk to Women: Despite this, he can be paired with Liz and Sariya.
- Cool Sword
Stahl
A knight who serves Chrom's vigilante force. He has a gentle, trusting personality.
Class: Cavalier
- Blue Oni Red Oni: The Blue Oni to Sully's Red.
- Name's the Same: With the Sol skill (not its Japanese name). Given that said skill is present in Awakening, it's a fair assumption that at least one of the two will be getting its name changed for the English release.
- Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: The feminine boy to Sully's masculine girl.
- Nice Guy: To the point where various characters either tell him that he doesn't give himself enough credit or don't believe he has no ulterior motives for being so nice. The Avatar in their A Support has them assuring that they will always look out for him like he does for everyone else.
Sully
A female knight who serves Chrom's vigilante force. She prizes combat and has a daring, strong-willed personality.
Class: Cavalier
- Action Girl
- Blue Oni Red Oni: The Red Oni to Stahl's Blue.
- Bokukko: Also the first ever female member of the Red Knight/Green Knight duo.
- Fiery Redhead: She has a bit of a temper and can snap quickly if her buttons are pushed. This especially applies to men due to having a history of being looked down upon for being a woman.
- Hot Mom: Of Kjelle.
- Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: The masculine girl to Stahl's feminine boy.
Miriel
A member of the vigilante force. A methodical perfectionist, she is harsh towards those who act thoughtlessly.
Class: Mage
- Black Mage: As a Mage, Miriel can cast offensive magic.
- Expy: Some fans think of her as a young!Mcgonagall.
- Hot Mom: Of Laurent.
- Magic Knight: If promoted to a Dark Knight.
- Nice Hat: Minerva even thinks so, according to Miriel's support with Cherche.
- Robe and Wizard Hat: Awakening's Mages now wear a more classic-looking "wizard hat". Miriel's hat has an especially large brim.
- The Stoic: She does not seem capable of expressing strong emotions, though she does derive some enjoyment from performing science and is blushing visibly in her Love Confession.
Vaike
A fighter who serves the vigilante force. He is Chrom's childhood friend, and the two sort of have a bond between them.
Class: Fighter
- An Axe to Grind
- Dark-Skinned Blond: He's got noticeably tanner skin than his fellow Ylisseans.
- Walking Shirtless Scene: Played straight with his portrait, but zig-zags depending on his promotion route.
Ricken
The youngest member of the vigilante force, he's practically their mascot. He acts and speaks like a child, but dislikes being treated as one. He's fond of Chrom.
Class: Mage
- Black Mage: As a Mage, he can cast offensive magic.
- Child Prodigy: In the English dub, it's more like a young teen prodigy instead, due to his deeper voice.
- Magic Knight: If promoted to a Dark Knight.
- Nice Hat: That's much too big for him.
- Robe and Wizard Hat
Maribelle
A member of the vigilante force and Lissa's best friend. She is the child of an influential noble family within Iris. She acts proud and domineering, but is sweet to her friends.
Class: Troubadour
- Expy: Seems to be one to Clarine.
- Hair of Gold: Even if she hides the "Heart of Gold" part at first.
- Hot Mom: Of Brady.
- Magic Knight: If promoted to a Battle Cleric.
- Parasol of Prettiness: Carries it with her at all times in her official artwork and in her dialogue portrait.
- White Magician Girl/Staff Chick: Most of her classes feature the ability to use supportive magic.
Panne
A beast warrior not tied to any kingdom. The last surviving member of the Taguel, a race able to shape-shift into rabbits. A cool woman with a strong sense of duty.
Class: Taguel
- Does Not Like Shoes: Save for her shin guards, Panne wears no footwear, opting to remain barefooted.
- Hot Mom: Of Yarne.
- Killer Rabbit: Quite literally so.
- Last of Her Kind: Though she isn't too concerned with the survival of her species.
- Meaningful Name/Stealth Pun: Panné is a type of crushed velvet, in reference to The Velveteen Rabbit.
- Ms. Fanservice: She is already getting declared this, though she's also the Last of Their Kind so expect her to be given at least a little bit more depth than that.
- Voluntary Shapeshifter: As a taguel, she can turn into a large and very deadly rabbit during battle.
Virion
A noble from a as-yet-unidentified country. While he acts friendly, his words and actions make his grace and refinement somewhat clear.
Class: Archer
- The Archer: Specifically, "The Archest of Archers".
- Bow and Sword in Accord: If promoted to a Bow Knight.
- Chivalrous Pervert: He can't stop thinking about women, but he always treats them like royalty.
- Expy: He looks quite similar to Miles Edgeworth.
- Ladykiller in Love: If paired.
- Pyrrhic Victory: The reason why, despite being a skilled tactician, he never tries to take My Unit's role. He gets too many of his men killed achieving any specific objective, as opposed to My Unit (and likely the players) reluctance to sacrifice so much as a single unit.
- White-Haired Pretty Boy
Cordelia
A member of Iris's Pegasus squad. A close friend of Sumia since their childhood, she's a genius who carries out most tasks flawlessly. She hides feelings towards a certain person.
Class: Pegasus Knight
- A-Cup Angst: Comes up in her supports.
- The Ace: Her peers consider her a genius, and she's generally held as The Reliable One for the Shepherds.
- All Love Is Unrequited: This is actually enforced as it is totally impossible to pair her up with her crush, Krom leading to...
- Blade on a Stick: As a Pegasus Knight, Cordelia starts out wielding lances.
- Fiery Redhead: Aside from her passionate devotion to Ylisse, Cordelia confides to Virion that she regrettably also has a bit of a temper.
- Hot Mom: Of Severa.
- Magic Knight: Upon promotion to Dark Pegasus.
Donnel/"Donny"
A villager from Iris. A common young man who likes plowing fields. Because he's never gone outside his village, he's interested in many things.
Class: Villager
- Blade on a Stick: His default weapon. Weirdly, his class change options are Mercenary and Fighter, making his promoted options Hero, Warrior and Bow Knight, and none of those weapons have lances as an option, meaning he has to discard his lance rank altogether.
- Bucket Helmet
- Joke Item: Seen fighting with a Wooden Stick. Really (looks more like a log).
- Magikarp Power: He has pitiful starting stats but comes with a skill that increases ALL of his growth rates by 20% with no penalty.
- Memetic Outfit: Donny's pot-hat is quite popular among photoshoppers.
Say'ri
The princess of a small nation in Warm. She seems different from the Irisians and has an old-fashioned look. She adores her brother Yen'fay, but is currently his enemy for some reason.
Class: Swordmaster
- Action Girl
- Badass Princess
- Cool Sword
- Hot Mom: Only if paired with My Unit.
Gaius
A thief living in Iris. Calm, composed and able, he'll basically do any job if the price is right. Loves free sweets and has candies hidden all over his body.
Class: Thief
- Cool Sword
- Dude Looks Like a Lady: Having a name based off a female deity doesn't help either.
- Fiery Redhead
- Hurricane of Puns: All of his Japanese battle quotes use the word "amai". This word means both sweet (as in taste, since he loves candy) and also describes someone who isn't trying very hard (so, it's used a lot in taunts which mean something like "Is that all?" or "You should've tried harder!") Look out to see how many times the localization team fits in something like "That was sweet!".
- Life Drain: He wields the Sol skill.
- One-Hit Kill: Frequently shown using Lethality.
- Sweet Tooth: Gaius loves sweets, up to the point that he keeps a stash of them in various pockets all over his clothes. There is never a single conversation in which he doesn't slip in a pun that has to do with sweets, being his Trademark Favorite Food and all. He even has a consumable item with his name to it (Gaius's Confect).
Tharja
A sorceress from Perezia. She doesn't really care about the feud between Perezia and Iris and is often chanting suspicious curses when she's alone.
Class: Dark Mage
- Black Magician Girl
- Curse: As her description states, she enjoys practicing these when left to her own devices.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Subverted in her debut chapter, as an enemy unit. After recruitment, it's played straight.
- Hot Mom: Of Noire.
- Not So Stoic: Listen to her two voice clips on the official site. The first is her sounding like a typical Black Magician Girl, the second is her laughing gleefully.
- Cute but Psycho/Blood Knight: She laughs when using her Vengeance skill.
- Kuudere: Yes.
- Yandere: During her Confession, she says "I love you... If you dare... to betray my feelings... I won't forgive you. At this point, it's too late... to think about escaping me...". Of course, this made her a Fetish Fuel Station Attendant to many fans not just guys either.
- Stalker with a Crush: Her relationship with My Unit to begin with. Even if he marries her, she keeps some elements of this with him.
- Stripperiffic: Her outfit doesn't leave much to the imagination, though her portrait happens to have her tome and arms blocking most of her outfit.
Nowi
A rather young looking dragon girl.
Class: Manakete
- Absurdly Youthful Mother/Hot Mom: Of Nah. YMMV on both tropes though.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Has more than a few elements of this.
- Hair of Gold
- Instant Awesome, Just Add Dragons: With the aid of a Dragonstone she can take on her Dragon form, allowing her to beat the crap out of most enemies with ease.
- Really 700 Years Old: She is a dragon after all.
Gregor
A Mercenary that shows up with Nowi.
Class: Mercenary
Libra
A priest who's... kinda become infamous based on the trailers.
Class: Battle Monk
- An Axe to Grind: Like Lissa, he can use Axes as a Battle Monk
- Dark and Troubled Past: Hinted at in Tharja's support conversations.
- Dropped a Bridget On Him: On Virion in a support conversation.
- Dude Looks Like a Lady: And sounds like one too!
- Even the Guys Want Him/Stupid Sexy Flanders: Even after he tells Virion he's a man, Virion continues to flatter him for his looks and tells Libera he's "like a rose". Libra thinks he's funny, but Virion has to remind himself that Libra's still a dude.
Virion: Oh... even though I saw his pure male side... he still moves me.
- Expy: An androgynous Monk who is often mistaken for a girl? Now where have I heard that before... But this time, it's even more convincing due to the addition of voice acting.
- Hair of Gold
- Magic Knight: Combat Medic version.
- Sexy Priest: His end credits title is "Fetching Friar".
- Vocal Dissonance: As mentioned above, he has a very feminine voice.
Anna
The mysterious traveling merchant. As one would expect from a merchant, she's friendly and polite. She loves gold and rich customers. She's actually one among many Anna's in the game that inculdes her, Otherworld guide Anna and traveling merchant Anna.
Tropes about Awakening Anna go here section while tropes about Anna generally go on the general Fire Emblem characters section.
Class: Trickster
- Christmas Cake
- Derailing Love Interests: Averted. She's a romance option for My Unit, which led some to believe Jake would be getting this (or worse). As it turns out, this is a different Anna, so it's fine.
- Did You Just Scam Cthulhu?: Done unsuccessfully in her support conversation with Tiki. She tries to use people's worship of the "Divine Dragon Priestess" and said dragon's innocent nature in get rich quick schemes... and almost gets eaten once Tiki figures it out. She would have gotten away with it if she had kept her mouth shut.
- Girls Love Stuffed Animals: She has a miniature teddy bear attached to the hilt of her sword.
- Magic Knight: As a Trickster, she can utilize swords and healing staves.
- Memetic Hand Gesture: Resting her index finger on her face, like her sisters.
- Money Fetish: She loves money above all else. Even when she confesses to My Unit, she'll mention how he'll be number two to gold and money.
- Plucky Girl: Even when her greed comes back to bite her, Anna never changes who she is or lets it keep her down.
- Staff Chick:
- Trickster Archetype: Anna's starting class, which lets her attack with swords and heal with staves. In-story, she actually tries to exploit and con Tiki, the daughter of their universe's Physical God.
- You Gotta Have Red Hair
Olivia
A dancer from Feria, She dreams of opening her own theatre.
Class: Dancer
- The Chick: She tries desperately to be this, trying to find ways to be helpful and supportive towards others so that she has more use besides her dancing.
- Cool Sword
- Hot Mom: Of Inigo.
- Last Girl Wins: If paired with Chrom.
- Stripperiffic: She seems to be wearing scarves.
Cherche
A dracoknight who used to serve Virion's family.
Class: Dracoknight
- An Axe to Grind: Her default weapon as a Wyvern Rider. In her official art, she notably wields the Helswath, one of Jugdral's twelve holy weapons!
- Bodyguard Crush: If paired with Virion.
- Christmas Cake: She believed she'd become this due to Minerva scaring off suitors.
- Dragon Rider: With her precious wyvern mount Minerva.
- Fiery Redhead: Subverted, as she's usually very calm and tranquil unless you get on her bad side.
- Hot Mom: Of Gerome.
Henry
Another Dark Mage hailing from Perezia, he joins Chrom's army because they get in lots of fights.
Class: Dark Mage
- Blood Knight: He joins Chrom because he loves war.
- Curse: His supports with Sumia indicate that he's also a practitioner.
- Dark Is Bad: While not actually evil, Henry is more malicious then the other main characters.
- Dangerously Genre Savvy: Non-villanious example, he joins because he somehow knows he'll be able to fight more if he's with Chrom's party than with Perezia.
- Dissonant Serenity: It takes a special kind of insanity to be smiling whilst telling the person you hope includes you in his army that if he doesn't want you he can just kill you on the spot.
- Eyes Always Shut: Even during his Confession! He's like Oscar that way.
- Orphanage of Fear: Was raised in one. Implied to be why he turned out so... unhinged.
- The Pollyanna: Revealed in supports.
- Stepford Smiler: Again, revealed in support conversations. Interestingly, rather than trying to hide his problems through his smile, he seems to have deluded himself into believing that he is genuinely a cheerful and happy person. Two layers of it, in fact (he's masquerading as a Type C, but deep down, he's really a Type A)!
- Stripperiffic
- The Unexpected: Would you believe Henry can reclass into a bandit? This is most likely due to his Blood Knight nature, it's certainly not his build.
Tiki (Chiki)
A divine dragon from the era of legends. She is revered as the "Divine Dragon Priestess" in Warm. Although usually calm, her "little girl" side slips out on rare occasions.
For Tiki's tropes, see her section here.
Basilio
The Western King of the militant nation of Feria, he respects those with valour. He often acts and speaks in a silly way, but possesses the strength befitting of his position.
Class: Warrior
- Agent Peacock
- An Axe to Grind: Most of his class options have this as their main weapon.
- Bald Black Leader Guy: While's not exactly the leader per sé once his army integrates with Chrom's, he's got considerable authority regardless.
- Bald of Awesome: Of all the playable characters in the game, he's the only bald guy. And he's tough as nails.
- Big Guy Fatality Syndrome
- Disney Death: The revelation that he survived sets up another person's survival...
- Eleventh-Hour Ranger: He and Flavia are the last two recruitable characters in normal gameplay, dropping a big twist in the process.
- Eyepatch of Power: Wears one over his left eye. Despite his handicap, Basilio still manages to be one of Ferox's fiercest fighters.
- Hot Dad: Only if paired with My Unit.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Seems to be one.
- The Rival: To Flavia.
- Belligerent Sexual Tension: They can end up married.
Flavia
Basilio's counterpart, the Eastern Queen of Feria. A brave, heroic and strong-minded woman. She and Basilio are rivals.
Class: Hero
- Cool Sword
- Dark-Skinned Blond: She looks to be actually black.
- Eleventh-Hour Ranger: She joins near the final stages of the game.
- Hot Mom: Only if paired with My Unit.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Flavia easily agrees to an alliance between Regna Ferox and Ylisse, understanding the threat Plegia is to both.
- The Rival: To Basilio.
- Belligerent Sexual Tension: They can end up married.
Children Characters
Owain
Lissa's son. He has a habit of speaking in an overly theatrical fashion that some people find tiresome to deal with.
Class: Myrmidon
- Cool Sword
- Hot-Blooded: The heroes' blood in his veins is BOILING!!
- Lampshaded in his supports with his father, who ponders why Owain goes on and on about the uncontrollable blood in his veins when neither of his parents were anything like that. Owain later admits it's mostly an act.
- Kissing Cousins: Possible if you pair him with Lucina or a Chrom-fathered Dezel or Cynthia.
- Large Ham: He tends to be very overly-dramatic to the point other characters find him annoying.
Inigo
Olivia's son. He flirts with every woman he happens to meet on his journey.
Class: Mercenary
- Cool Sword
- Chivalrous Pervert: Perfectly describes Inigo. He's chivalrous at heart, but a pervert at soul.
Brady
The son of Maribelle. Acts like a delinquent, but really does care for his comrades on the battlefield.
Class: Priest
- Face of a Thug: Has the prominent brow typically used for thuggish bad guys. However, Brady is actually a pretty chill dude.
- Japanese Delinquents: Looks and acts like one.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He can be rather crude and easily frustrated, but he's ultimately a very kind and empathetic young man.
- White Magician Boy: Despite his scary appearance.
Kjelle
Sully's daughter, She seems just as tomboyish (if not more so) as her mother.
Class: Knight
- Blade on a Stick: Starts off wielding lances as a Knight.
- Tomboy
Cynthia
The daughter of Sumia. Is very cheerful and energetic.
Class: Pegasus Knight

Gerome
The son of Cherche, he wears a mask for... some reason, but does take it off at times.
Class: Dragon Knight
- An Axe to Grind:
- Blade on a Stick: If promoted to Dragon Master.
- Char Clone: Even more so that "Marth"! It's even possible to get him with blonde hair...
- Cool Mask: Unlike "Marth", he has no real reason to wear one.
- The Stoic: He does not like to show emotion, and deliberately wears a mask to further this.
Morgan
My Unit's son or daughter, they are always the opposite gender to My Unit. They dream of becoming a strategist.
Class: Same as other parent, Strategist if other parent was Lord, Dancer, or Overlord
- Canon Welding/Continuity Nod: Shares the tactician from the 7th game's default name, but whether they are the same person is unclear as of yet.
- Chick Magnet/Dude Magnet: Notable in that they sometimes perform romantic gestures before the S support.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Morgan's thought process is very abnormal and convoluted. Their early attempts at regaining their memory involved slamming their head against books and posts, and they only stop because their parent/sibling suggests that just may be a bad idea.
- Easy Amnesia: They just woke up one day in the middle of nowhere with no memory, save a few memories of the Avatar, their parent. Male Morgan can also have a few memories with Lucina if he's her sibling.
- Motor Mouth: Morgan has an infamous habit of spontaneous rambling.
Yarne
The son of Panne. He is a bit of a coward due to the pressure of being the last surviving Taguel in the future.
Class: Taguel
- Cowardly Lion: Justified, as Panne died in his timeline leaving him the last Taguel alive there.
- Last of His Kind
- Voluntary Shapeshifter: As a Taguel, he can shift into a giant rabbit form.
Laurent
The son of Miriel. He is cold and callous much like his mother, but has a soft side to him as well.

- The Stoic: He's very reserved, though not as much as his mother.
Noire
The daughter of Tharja. Is slightly shy, but ready to protect people with her bow at the slightest provocation.
Class: Archer
- The Archer
- Well Done Daughter Girl: Her supports with her mother has her seeking approval from her, as Sariya in the future was apparently very cold towards Noire.
- Yandere: Inherited a bit of this from her mother, as her S Support with Azure has her shooting arrows at him to "protect him from other unwanted ladies."
Nah
The daughter of Nowi. She is a manakete as well, but acts more mature than her mother.
Class: Manakete
- Spell My Name with an "S": Her katakana can be confused for 'Soso'. Many called her that until it was realized that 'Nn' was the name that's strangely intended.
- Voluntary Shapeshifter: As a Manakete, Nah can shift into a dragon form.
- Who Names Their Kid "Dude"?: She's well aware of how odd "Nah" sounds. Even Nowi at first is confused with her name.
Unplayable Characters
Emmeryn
Chrom and Lissa's elder sister, the current ruler and "Holy King" of the Holy Kingdom of Iris. She is said to be a peace-loving and kind-hearted queen.
Class: Sage
- Laser-Guided Amnesia
- Heroic Sacrifice: Kills herself by jumping off a cliff to prevent Gangrel from obtaining the Shield of Seals.
- Reasonable Authority Figure
- Secret Character: She's your reward for completing "Paralogue 20: A Hard Miracle".
- She Is the King: As ruler of the Holy Kingdom of Iris, she holds the title of "Holy King". This may, however, just be Engrish on the developer's part; when not using her full title, characters still call her the queen.
Gangrel
The king of Perezia. Cruel and easily distracted, he takes delight in deceiving others.
Class: Trickster
- The Atoner: Has this vibe going on for his supports with My Unit, regretting his days as a foul king.
- Ax Crazy: Between his crazed laughter and penchant for unnecessary violence, he certainly fits the title of "Mad King".
- The Caligula: But again, not at first.
- Disk One Final Boss: An interesting case, as a promoted Thief class is not exactly the standard choice when it comes to Disc One Final Bosses in the Fire Emblem series.
- Heel Face Turn/Love Redeems: If recruited and gets a S-ranked Support with a female My Unit, he says he will try to be become a better man.
- Magic Knight
- Secret Character: You can get him to join you in Sidequest 18, unlocked via Spot Pass. My Unit can support with him, and female My Unit can even marry him!
Aversa
Gangrel's subordinate. A well-endowed, sensual and beautiful woman. Seducing men and leading them to ruin is her forte.
Class: Dark Pegasus
- Absolute Cleavage: Takes the title of "most visible cleavage in the series" away from Sonia. That's sayin' something.
- The Dragon: To Gangrel, most likely. To Fauder later on. Finally, to Gimle itself: how the heck does she survive that long?
- Lady Not-Appearing-In-This-Game: Played with. By appearing on the cover of the manual, she pretty much serves this role... except that she does appear in the game, and in a pretty significant role at that.
- Magic Knight: One uses dark magic.
- Unique Enemy: A Dark Pegasus who wields Dark Magic.
- The Vamp: Openly admits in her parent-child event tiles with Morgan that she has used her beauty and body to get what she wants from men in the past, and encourages her daughter to learn how to do the same.
Walhart
The emperor of the Warm Empire. A conqueror who dominated the Continent of Warm by force. He hates losing and turning his back to an enemy above all things. While he holds down his opposition by force, he has the charisma needed to lead a country.
Class: Overlord
- An Axe to Grind: Has a unique one called the "Wolfberg".
- Authority Equals Asskicking: Is Level 25 when you meet him.
- Badass Grandpa: Well, he did conquer an entire continent.
- Big Red Devil: His armor and helmet give off this image.
- Cool Horse: It's huge to hold up a huge man.
- A Father to His Men: He is a charismatic ruler.
- Secret Character: While this is not new, he is the first in the line of unique Tin Tyrant classes to be recruitable. Other units of his kind tend to be be given as rewards usable in bonus modes, but Walhart is the first to be on equal footing with other playable units (Support, ending, etc).
- Social Darwinist: He is one as revealed in his supports with a female My Unit, which makes him rather melancholy as he knows at that point, losing to Chrom's forces three times no longer makes him qualify as what he dubs "strong" anymore. Eventually, she talks him out of it.
- Tin Tyrant: He's encased in red armour save for his lack of helmet.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: He knew about Validar and the Grimleal's plans to wake Grima and sought to stop him... by conquering the whole continent, and making an enemy out of almost everyone he encountered.
Yen'fay
A Swordmaster from Warm. He is Say'ri's brother.
Class: Swordmaster
Garrick
A leader of some barbarians likely to be from Perezia.
Class: Barbarian
- An Axe to Grind: Wields a Hand Axe.
- Bandit Mook: He and his group are classed as Brigands.
- Gonk: Not as much as some of other bandits in the series, but he still fits.
- Rape, Pillage and Burn: His main motive.
- Warmup Boss: The first boss in the game, if Validar in the first Premonition is not counted.
Validar
A warlock who wields dark magic. He is the leader of the Evil Dragon-worshipping Gimle Cult.
Class: Sorcerer
- Amazing Technicolor Population: Might be just the lighting, but in the trailer, he clearly appears purple.
- Beard of Evil: With a Skunk Stripe down the middle of it.
- Climax Boss: ...But then, said Anticlimax Boss fight gets subverted, and he gets much stronger during Chapter 23's second half!
- Dark Is Evil: He's an Evil Sorcerer with vast powers over dark magic, as well as an Obviously Evil appearance, and he's utterly devoted to bringing Grima back to life, which spells doom for the world.
- Evil Sorceror: Literally. He has the class and everything.
- High Collar of Doom: Sports a mage's collar similar to the Avatar's, which on him looks sinister.
- Lean and Mean: He looks kinda like Jafar or a male Maleficant.
- Luke, I Am Your Father: To My Unit.
- Obviously Evil: It's not nice to judge a book by its cover, but seriously, look at him!
- Warmup Boss: In the interlude.
- You Can't Fight Fate: Pretty much quotes this word-for-word in one of his sample (Japanese) dialogues in the official site. Contrast with Chrom, who's first sample clip roughly translates as "I'm changing fate".
