Ear Worm/Music GHI
G
- Edvard Grieg's piece In the Hall of the Mountain King is one of those tunes everyone can recognize, but nobody can identify.
- Gamma Ray: Noooow I knooooow there's a beeeeeeeetter waaaay, let my heeeeaaart ride out for a beeeetter daaaay..." Michael Kiske on vocals seals the deal.
- Gala: Come, come, come into my life... nobody loves me, nobody loves me enough...
- Paro, Nakso, Mikono, Syro kai Folegandro. Kriti, Rodo, Ko kai Santorini~ God damn you, Galana. It's even worse since the only words you really can understand if you're not linguistic are Kriti and sleeping bag.
- Cee-Lo Green's Fuck You is most definitely an Ear Worm.
- A lot of stuff by Gackt. Most notably, Vanilla, and his latest release, Ghost. I have had the latter on repeat since the song came out (which was nine days ago as of when this was written).
- I see your Vanilla and Ghost, and raise you U+ K, Redemption, Illness Illusion, Kono Daremo Inai Heya De, and Orenji no Taiyou.
- Oh, and now also Koakuma Heaven. Dear god it's catchy...
- Everyone has their own songs; I have Cherry Lips by Garbage stuck in my head.
- First encounter with that song was this one. Hard to be an ear worm when you're laughing to hard.
- I see your amv and raise you David Tennant cross dressing probably NSFW
- "I would die for you, I would die for you, I've been dying just to feel you by my side..." #1 Crush is one addictive song... Damn you, Garbage.
- "I'm only happy when it rains, I'm only happy when it's complicated..."
- First encounter with that song was this one. Hard to be an ear worm when you're laughing to hard.
- Genesis: "She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah, she reaches in and grabs right hold of your heart..."
- Curse you, Genki Rockets, and your ever catchy "Heavenly Star"! This troper and her sister jokingly refer to it as "No More Ear Worm" after listening to it during a pre-livestream of No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle.
- Girls Aloud. I'm just a love machine, feeding my fantasy, give me a kiss or three...
- "Centerfold" by the J Geils Band (Or Captain Jack if you're a DDR fan). Not even the whole song--just the "nah nah nah nana nah" part.
- "My blood runs cold/ My memories have just been sold! / (na na nananana) My angel is a centerfold..."
- What makes it worse is that it predicts that it'll be stuck in your head. Why do you think someone's whistling the aforementioned part at the very end?
- "Fright Night, who's it going to be tonight, lock your doors and windows tight, soon you'll all belive i'm right."
- I've been through diamonds! I've been through minks! I've been through it all! ...LOVE STINKS.
- "My blood runs cold/ My memories have just been sold! / (na na nananana) My angel is a centerfold..."
- Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll, Part Two" arguably manages to be one of these...despite having no lyrics whatsoever except "Hey!"
- Which was remixed very successfully as Doctorin' the TARDIS ten years later. Its arguably even catchier than the original. Even now, I can't hear the original Rock and Roll Part II without wanting to sing "Doctor Whoooooo HEY Doctor Who, Doctor Whooooo BOSH BOSH The TARDIS" over the top of it.
- The Go-Gos: "Vacation" ...vacation, all I ever wanted...
- "Our Lips Are Sealed"
- "We Got the Beat"
- "Our Lips Are Sealed"
- So many Goldfrapp songs.
- Join our group and you will find, harmony and piece of mind, make you bettah (We're here to welcome you!). A lot more people are getting exposed to this one due to it's use in the new SyFy promo. And, somehow, the fact that the lyrics (intentionally) read like a jingle for a cult makes it stick even more.
- Selena Gomez:
- Oh oh oh it's magic.. you know.. never believe it's not so...
- Which was originally a Queen song.
- I-I love you like a love song baby...
- "You are the thunder, and I am the lightning..."
- Who says? Who says you're not perfect? Who says you're not worth it?
- Oh oh oh it's magic.. you know.. never believe it's not so...
- Gorillaz: "I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad, I got sunshine in a bag, I'm useless, but not for long, the future is comin' on Its comin on it's comin on" Sorry, I'm a 2000s kid.
- This troper was hiking in the Grand Canyon and could not get this or Clint Eastwood out of her head. For four days. FOUR DAYS.
- Windmill, windmill for the land, Turn forever hand in hand... AAARRRGGHHH.
- The song is not the same when we're all played out, played out, all played oooouuuut!
- M1A1! Thousand miles an hour! Gorillaz got the bass drum! Gorillaz say I want some, some!
- She turned my dad on, she turned my dad on, dad on, dad on!!!

- "We walk the plank with our eyes wide open, we..."
- I'm just pulling on a line, on a line ... Oh, I'm just pulling on a line. I'm just pulling on a line, on a line ... and sometimes it pulls on me. Curse you, Great Lake Swimmers. Curse you.
- From Green Day:
- "Sometimes I give myself the creeps, sometimes my mind plays tricks on me..."
- "Do you know the enemy? Do you know your enemy? Well, gotta know the enemy, whoa ay (whoa ay whoa ay!)"
- The opening of "Brain Stew".
- Gloooria! Viva la Glooorrriiia!
- My shadow's the only one that walks beside me, my shallow heart's the only thing that's beating...
- One... Twenty-one guns!
- Don't wanna be an AMERICAN IDIOT!
- 'Cause you know where I'll be found...WHEN I COME AROUND..."
- Red alert is the color of your paper valentines, intertwined on this moment passing by...
- 'Cause I wanna be the minority! I don't need your authority!
- Castaway, goin' at it alone/Castaway, now I'm on my own...
- "There's something unpredictable/ But in the end is right/ I hope you had the time of your life..."
- "City of the damned, lost children with dirty faces today..."
- "The world owes me, so fuck you."
- "I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies..."
- "I'm not fucking around!"

- "Pay attention to the cracked streets and the broken homes!"
- "Seventeen and strung out on confusions..."
- "I'n on a roll! No self-control!"
- "It's not over till you're underground..."
- Guns N' Roses:
- "Sweet Child o' Mine". Hell, you just need the opening licks...
- "Welcome to the jungle, watch you break into your - shananananana - knees, knees!"
- "Take me down to the paradise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty!"
- "I'm on a Nightrain, bottoms up! I'm on a Nightrain, fill my cup!"
- "We've been dancing, with Mr. Brownstone!"
- "Just a little patience, yeah, yeah..."
- "I used to love her, but I had to kill her..."
- "Better" is, arguably, though Your Mileage May Vary for that one (and the rest of Chinese Democracy).
- Cornshucker, Real buttfuckah!
- Gunther: Oh, you touchin' my tra la la...
- And that is only a gateway drug to Gunther's EVEN MORE NOXIOUS ear worms. DARLIN' YOU'RE MY NAAAAAUGHTY BOY....
- "Voodoo" by Godsmack, the earworm to zombify other earworms. That it's a rhythmic infinite chant definitely helps.
- "I'm doing the best I ever did..."
- "I'm alive, for you I'm awake..."
- "I! STAND ALONE!"
- "Straight out of line, I can't find a reason..."
- "Speak the truth, or make your peace some other way..."
- "Shine Down, don't take it away from me, no..."
- "I, am realizing, that everybody's lost there simple ways..."
- "Good times, bad times, you know I've had my share..."
- "I'm feeling okay with my whiskey hangover..."
- "And so, you tell me I, can't take my chances, but I told you one too many times, that you were crying like a bitch!"
- "Love, Hate, Sex, Pain, it's complicating me sometimes..."
- GWAR: "-died, and they died, and they died, and they died..."
- Selena Gomez And The Scene
- ROUND AND ROUND! We're NEVER GONNA STOP GOIN ROUND AND ROUND! WE'LL NEVER GET WHERE WE'RE GOIN! ROUND AND ROUND... Help me...
- I'M MISSIN YOU SO MUCH! CAN'T HELP IT I'M IN LOVE! A DAY WITHOUT YOU IS LIKE A YEAR WITHOUT RAIN!...
- YOU ARE THE THUNDER AND I AM THE LIGHTNING! AND I LOVE THE WAY YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND TO ME IT'S EXCITING! AND THE WAY IT'S MEANT TO BE EVERYTHING COMES NATURALLY...
- Lesley Gore: "Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows..."
- Ellie Goulding: "You shine the lights that stop me, I turn to stone..."
H
- Brian Hyland's words: "It was an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini" will stick with you. FOREVER.
- Haddaway: "What is love? Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more."
- Hall and Oates lived and breathed this trope. They were earworm masters. If you remember the 80's you know!
- Somehow this troper's mind lately seems to be defaulting to Half Man Half Biscuit's Joy Division Oven Gloves as an earworm.
- Hanson: "Mmm Bop" Mmm bop, ba duba bop, ba du bop, ba duba bop, ba du bop, ba duba bop, ba du bop, ba du. This may still be Nightmare Fuel to some tropers. And it got surreal after Hanson lost their preteen voices.
- Harry S Miller: But The Cat Came Back the very next day, the cat came back they thought he was a goner but The Cat Came Back, just wouldn't stay away.
- Thanks to its mention in The Cover Changes the Gender, I cannot get Har Mar Superstar's "Tall Boy" out of my damn mind.
- Calvin Harris: I get all the girls, I get all the girls
- MacArthur Park, as originally sung by Richard Harris.
- The Hazzards: "Gay boyfriend, gay boyfriend, I don't really care that you are queer..."
- The Finnish song "Juodaan Viinaa" ("Let's Drink Booze"), either the original by Hector or the Korpiklaani cover. I can't stop singing it to myself, and the worst part is I barely know any Finnish at all.
- Edward Hill ("Tro-lo-lo-lo-lo")--see below under "Eduard Khil."
- Hed PE:
- Hello! Project has plenty of these.
- I find the song My Best Friend by Hello Saferide getting stuck in my head all the time. Especially the chorus: "Damn, I wish I was a lesbian..."
- May also be a bit of a Tear Jerker for lonely people.
- Herman's Hermits' version of "I'm Henry the Eighth, I Am."
- See, I was born, born, born to be alive! [1]
- Hinoi Team's version of Night of Fire is not only semi-silly with the sumo wrestler/comedian Hikkori, it's unbearably catchy. Not to mention the dance is mesmerising.
- The Hives have many, such as "Hate to Say I Told You So", "Main Offender", "Walk Idiot Walk" and "Tick Tick Boom".
- Cuz I'm a ninja, ninja, ninja...
- Gustav Holst's Mars, The Bringer of War. Dadadada-da-dadada Dadadada-da-dadada
- See also by Holst - Second Suite in F.
- I lost my heart to a Starship Troopah! Flashin' light in hyper space... (by Hot Gossip)
- Horsedick.mpeg. No seriously, that is his name. His most famous song? Suck My Dick, While I FUCK THAT ASS!
- Johnny Horton's Sink The Bismarck.
- Julianne Hough's That Song In My Head is an Ear Worm about an Ear Worm. (And love.)
- So many things by Hot Hot Heat. One adjective critics can seem to agree on when describing them is "catchy". An example that sticks out is "Bandages".
- Hyde's Sweet Vanilla, Masquerade, Midnight Celebration and Hello definately counts. His music with Kaz as VAMPS counts too: LOVE ADDICT and BLOOD, SEX, ROCK 'N ROLL are hard to get out of your head.
- George Harrison: "I've Got My Mind Set on You, I've got my mind set on you, I've Got My Mind Set on You, I've got my mind set on you."
- Clint Holmes: My name is Michael! I’ve got a nickel!
- Hey Monday: How can he sleep? How can he breathe? Baby tell me how, how you love me now....
- History Teachers (aka History for Music Lovers) - familiar tunes, new (and educational) lyrics
- Hadouken! (exclamation mark deliberate). That Boy That Girl,M.A.D,Mic Check and Turn The Lights Out are particularly notorious examples.
- Bubble Pop by Hyuna is notoriously catchy. This Troper cannot get it out of her head!
- Hyori's got many Ear Worms, including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, U-Go-Girl and Back It Up.
- Hot Chelle Rae: Tonight, tonight, there's a party on the rooftop, top of the world...
I
- Ian Van Dahl's Castles In The Sky. Excellent techno track, and catchy too.
- Ice Cube: "Today I didn't even have to use my AK...I gotta say, It Was a Good Day."
- And, to an extent, The Isley Brothers song it samples, "Footsteps in the Dark".
- Speaking of the Isleys, "Between the Sheets". Biggie knew how catchy it was, and sampled it for "Big Poppa".
- And one more for the Isley Brothers: we have "Shout." Parts 1 and 2.
- "Jack" by Iced Earth "I CUT YOU ONCE / I CUT YOU TWICE / YOU'RE MY MIDNIGHT SACRIFICE!"
- "Dancing with Myself" by Billy Idol.
- "In the midnight hour, she cried more, more, more! With a rebel yell! More, more, more!"
- "It's a nice day for a white wedding."
- "Les yeux sans visage... Eyes without a face"
- Infected Mushroom. Actual conversation:
My Girlfriend: I can't believe you spent my iTunes money on something called Frog Machine.
Me: It had to be done.
- Speaking of Infected Mushroom, Meduzz. The part with the strings (4:42). Incidentally, it's also awesome.
- I'M BECOMING INSANE INSANE INSANE INSANE INSANE I'M BECOMING INSANE INSANE INSANE INSANE INSANE
- From Iron Maiden:
- "Run to the Hills"
- "The Number of the Beast"
- Try listening to "The Nomad" and not having either the chorus or the Eastern-sounding riff out of your head.
- "Fear of the dark, fear of the dark..."
- TWO! MINUTES! TO MIIIIDNIIIIIIIGHT!
- Now, try to avoid singing that while making 2-minute noodles.
- EL DORADO COME AND PLAY
- "From Here to Eternity". It's widely derided by fans for its Motley Crue-esque sound, but you can't deny it's catchy ("HELL! Ain't a bad place! HELL IS FROM HERE TO ETERNITY!).
- Islands, Rough Gem; try not to whistle it all day.
- What about Iggy Pop's Passenger? "I am a passenger, and I ride and ride..." Really tough to get it out of one's head.
- While we're in Iggy and The Stooges, "I Wanna Be Your Dog," "Search and Destroy," "Lust for Life," and "Nightclubbing."
- Iyaz's "Replay" (a song about earworms - and love - at that); even worse if you listen to its "Polka Face" re-arrangement.
- ↑ The "artist" in the video is Adolf Hitler, but the singer is Patrick Hernandez
