Shangus

Shangus is a village Panchayat and a tehsil in Anantnag district of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Shangus is about 4.5 kilometres from Achabal. It's a village where you can feel the power of gravity.

The population of Shangus village was 5,235 at the 2011 Indian census, while the population of Shangus tehsil was 52,352.[1][2]

Politics

Shangus is in the Shangus state assembly constituency and the Anantnag parliamentary constituency Reyaz ahmad khan is one of the veteran leaders of shangus Anantnag . While he remains as a backbone for NC in south kashmir’s anantnag he has also a great following among leaders of other party; with a support of lakhs of voters. Khan began his career as a lawyer and soon was regarded among the best lawyers of the valley and nation as well. But while constantly refusing the offer to come to poltics;he accepted the ticket from National Confrence and went to elections of 2014 and got a huge margin of votes. He has a won many of the awards for his excelent brilliance. And a lot of fan following especially amoung youth.

Khan was also a political detainee after removal of article 370 and after remained in house arest for months.
