Etymology

History

This village (veerabayangaram) is very famous for powerful Veerangi Ayyanar temple . This temple is the family deity for the various peoples belongs to the cast of Sengunthar Kaikola Mudaliyar, Vanniyar, Agamudaiyar, Thuluva vellalar, Parkavakulam( Villupuram and Salem district ), Thomban, Dombara. And it is famous for pei virattuthal. Various people from all over the state will come here for this purpose to get relief from ghost and mental disorders. This main temple have three god's named Periya Ayya, chinna Ayya, nallathanga and another temple which is situated 500metres from main temple have Goddess Durga Devi and Karuppaiya.

It is located in just 88 km from salem. Drive via Salem Ulundurpettai highway (NH-68) and take the V Koot Road (NH-532) to reach Veerabayangaram And from Cuddalore, virudhachalam take NH 532 via veppur, adari, nainarpalayam route. Next 3 km from Nainarpalayam take left in V.Alambalam bustop travel 4 km to reach temple.
