Synopsis

After necromancer Ashran seizes power in Idhún, enforcing his reign of terror through an army of flying snakes, the first battle for the land's freedom will take place on the Earth, where impulsive teenager Jack and aspiring wizard Victoria will face dangerous assassin Artash, sent by Ashran to Earth to destroy the Idhunites who fled his tyranny.

Voice cast

Controversy

Laura Gallego, the writer of the books the series was based on, who also contributed in the show's development, wrote a short statement on her personal website objecting to the substitution of previously cast professional voice actors by more popular actors who, save for Michelle Jenner, generally lacked experience in dubbing.[4]

When asked about it, executive producer Alexis Barroso recalled a similar case with another animated series he was involved in, Virtual Hero, where Spanish YouTube star El Rubius, also lacking any prior experience in voice acting, was cast due to the original idea of the series being his and the main character being a fictionalized version of him. In a statement to FormulaTV, he said: "[As a viewer] that lack of profession is noticed, but as one continues to assimilate the series, I think it could not be understood without his voice."

The same website also reached out to the production companies, Zeppelin TV and Netflix, who stated: "Many options are always considered when casting original voices, and we trust the final result to be the most adequate for [the show's] audience."[5]

gollark: I *have* been known to use reddit.
gollark: The probability of the Earth suddenly immediately being transmuted into pure bees is technically "nonzero" according to my very approximate understanding of physics.
gollark: The common causes of death for young people are (owwwww) not that.
gollark: But that's a ridiculously rare issue to worry about.
gollark: I just tried it again, and yes, I was right, my fist hurts.
