Song Yuqi

Song Yuqi (Chinese: 宋雨琦, Korean: 송우기; born September 23, 1999), commonly known simply as Yuqi, is a Chinese singer and television host. She is part of the South Korean girl group (G)I-dle, which debuted in 2018. Since 2019, she has been co-hosting the Chinese TV show Keep Running.

This is a Chinese name; the family name is Song.

Early life

Song was born on September 23, 1999 in Beijing, China. She attended Beijing 101 Middle School.[2]

Career

Pre-debut

In 2015, Song attended the Cube Star World Audition Beijing Station, performing CLC's "High Heels" and G.E.M.'s "Bubble".[3] She passed her audition and became a trainee of Cube Entertainment.

In June 2017, she participated in a promotional video for Rising Star Cosmetics along with Minnie and Shuhua, future members of (G)I-dle.[4]

2018–present: (G)I-dle and solo activities

On April 8, 2018, Yuqi was revealed to be an upcoming member of Cube Entertainment's new girl group, (G)I-dle.[5] She debuted with the group on May 2, 2018 as the lead vocalist and dancer with their lead single titled "Latata" of their debut album, I Am.[6]

In 2019, Song Yuqi became a cast member for the seventh season of the Chinese TV show Keep Running, alongside Angelababy, and five other male casts.[7]

In April 2019 Yuqi was cast in a new variety show The Gashinas. The pilot episode aired on May 19.[8][9] In June 2019, Yuqi was confirmed as part of the cast for Law of the Jungle in Myanmar.[10][11] In September, Yuqi sang in a social travel reality show Please Pay Attention Visitors ending song, "Happy Seasoning".[12]

On April 23, 2020, Yuqi was confirmed to continue as a cast member for the eighth season of the Chinese Reality Show Keep Running, along with Angelababy, Li Chen, Zheng Kai, Lucas Wong, and three new cast members.[13]
