The airport is 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) east of the city. There is high terrain north and west of the airport.
The Ibague VOR-DME (Ident: IBG) and Ibague non-directional beacon (Ident: IBG) are located 1.7 nautical miles (3.1 km) off the approach threshold of Runway 32.[3][4]
The airport underwent a major renovation that was completed in June 2018.[5]
