The museum focuses on the local history of the Industrial Revolution, and the contributions and cultural heritage of its workers in the Lewiston-Auburn area of Maine.[1]

Features

The museum is located in a historic building of the former Bates Mill complex. Visitors can walk through a simulated production line and view exhibits covering the textile, shoe, and brick industries that once thrived in these cities along the Androscoggin River.

Other exhibits focus on the millworkers' ethnic heritage, including Canada, Ireland, Russia, and Greece.[1]

The Bates Mill Historic District is on the National Register of Historic Places.
