Martin Gerster

Martin Gerster (born 30 August 1971) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) who has been serving as a member of the Bundestag from the state of Baden-Württemberg since 2005.[1]

Early career

From 1999 until 2001, Gerster lived in the United States, where he worked for the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's campaign for the 2000 United States Senate election in New York.

Political career

Gester became a member of the Bundestag in the 2005 German federal election, representing the Biberach district.[2] He is a member of the Budget Committee, where has served as his parliamentary group's rapporteur on the annual budget of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (2012-2013) and the Federal Ministry of the Interior (since 2013).[3] In 2014, he also joined the Audit Committee. Since 2018, he has also been a member of the so-called Confidential Committee (Vertrauensgremium) of the Budget Committee, which provides budgetary supervision for Germany's three intelligence services, BND, BfV and MAD.
