2020 Arizona Wildcats football team

The 2020 Arizona Wildcats football team was to represent the University of Arizona in the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season. This season was to mark the Wildcats 121st season. The Wildcats were to play in the South Division (11th season) of the Pac-12 Conference and play their home games at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, Arizona (93rd season). Arizona was to be coached by third-year head coach Kevin Sumlin.

On August 11, 2020, the Pac-12 Conference cancelled all fall sports competitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[1]

Previous season

The Wildcats finished the 2019 season 4–8, 2–7 in Pac-12 play to finish in last place in the South Division.

Offseason

The Wildcats have 12 senior graduates only graduated players noted until spring practice. As well as 2 junior players would choose to forgo their senior season in pursuit of an early NFL career.

Schedule

Spring game

The 2020 Wildcats began spring practice on March 2, 2020 and finish with the 2020 Arizona spring game. The remainder of spring practice and the spring game were canceled on March 18, 2020, due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Regular season

Arizona announced its 2020 football schedule on December 4, 2018. The 2020 Wildcats' schedule consists of 6 home and 6 away games for the regular season. Arizona will host 5 Pac-12 opponents: California, Colorado, Oregon, USC and arch-rival Arizona State for the 93rd annual Territorial Cup to close out the regular season. Arizona will face the following Pac-12 opponents on the road: Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, Utah, and Washington. Arizona is not scheduled to play Pac-12 North opponent Washington State for the 2020 Pac-12 regular season.

Arizona's out of conference opponents represent the Big Sky, Big 12 and Mountain West conferences. The Wildcats will host two non–conference games which are against Hawaii from the (Mountain West) and Northern Arizona from the (Big Sky) and travel to Texas Tech (Big 12). On July 10, 2020 the Pac-12 announced it would cancel all fall sporting event non-conference games including Hawaii, Portland State, and Texas Tech to the decision, to play a conference-only schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[7]
