Background and Identification

This log splitting machine can be operated horizontally or vertically, and can be hooked up to a car to be towed around for better portability. The operator feeds logs into the machine, where they are passed over a blade to cut them in half. This machine should only be operated by a professional, as they can be very dangerous if not used correctly.

This machine is referred to by one of two model numbers: the 22618HD or the 22618. These two numbers are referred to in the operating manual as two different models, but the manual gives no distinguishing features between the two machines. They share the same safety information, specifications, and operation features, and are therefore essentially the same machine. This log splitter also has several variations with the same model number. However, they have different serial numbers, which indicate the year that they were released. This variation, with SN 404320000-999999999, was released in 2019. iFixit also offers support for the 2017 and 2018 models.
