Rimebound Fallen

One of the rare rimebound liches.

3e Summary::Sometimes undead aren't just rotting corpses that have been animated to follow another: sometimes, corpses partially freeze before becoming undead. These undead are often referred to as the "rimebound fallen" and are justly feared for their frigid strengths. These rimebound fallen are most commonly found in the arctic and upon high mountains, where their bodies freeze naturally, though, it is not uncommon to see them in dungeons, where they have been purposefully made.

Creating a Rimebound Fallen

Rimebound fallen is an aquired template that can be applied to any undead creature whose body has spent 3 or more continuous days exposed to temperatures below freezing without any way of enduring the temperature, referred to hereafter as the base creature. There may also be other ways to add this template to an undead creature, but they are subject to the DM's discretion.

Stat Changes

Size and Type: The creature’s size and type do not change, but it gains the cold subtype.

Speed: A rimebound fallen looses any ability to fly as their muscles and skin freeze solid. Additionally, a rimebound fallen halves its base land speed as tendons become encrusted with frost and joints fill with rime.

Armor Class: A rimebound fallens natural armor improves by +2.

Damage: A rimebound fallen inflicts an additional 1d8 cold damage with any physical attack it makes.

Special Qualities: A rimebound fallen gains the following special qualities. Additionally, if any of the special qualities gained from this template conflict with the creatures original special qualities, they lose the original special qualities and gain the new ones granted through this template.

Immunity to Cold: A rimebound fallen never takes cold damage.
Vulnerability to fire: A rimebound fallen takes half again as much (+50%) damage as normal from any source that deals fire damage.

Abilities: Increase from the base creature as follows: Str +2, Dex 2.

Environment: Changes to any cold location.

Special: This template and the ashbound fallen template cannot be applied to the same creature.

gollark: What would you actually like explained which you can't find out on your own practically?
gollark: Well, I think later education should be more person-specific, but if you're not exposed to lots of subjects in the first place it is nontrivial to know if you like them.
gollark: Besides, most people will "never use" art and such.
gollark: It is hard to know in advance what you will or won't need.
gollark: Maths is very useful for modelling reality, but school maths is kind of awful.
