Wrestle Angels/Characters/1
Mighty Yukiko (Real name: Yukiko Shinzaki)
Voiced by: Aya Hisakawa (Double Impact), Rumi Kasahara (1995 Fan Disc), Kotono Mitsuishi (1996 Drama CD), Mai Nakahara (Survivor 1 & 2)
- The Ace: Always the most expensive character to scout in the pure sim games. Always worth every single penny.
- Bash Sisters: With Bomber Kishima.
- Big Eater
- Bully Hunter: Was always getting into fights with random thugs before meeting Dragon Fujiko and getting involved in wrestling. Even after this, she makes it a point to go against characters with bully-like tendencies. This is part of why her personality clashes with Beauty Ichigaya's.
- Buxom Is Better
- Cool Big Sis: She is greatly supportive of the various girls who enter Shin Nihon Joshi Pro Wrestling after her, and takes the chosen main of V3 under her wing after they fail the SNJ entrence exam.
- Determinator
- Expy: Chigusa Nagayo and Riki Choushuu
- Finishing Move: Moonsault Press, J.O. Cyclone Suplex
- Game-Breaking Injury: Suffered one at the hands of Beauty Ichigaya and Jena Megalight during the endgame of 2/V2 and sat out most of Special's plot before returning to active duty.
- Hot-Blooded
- Idiot Hero: By way of being Book Dumb.
- Jack of All Stats / Lightning Bruiser: Usually hovers somewhere in between these two competitive types.
- Nice Girl
- No Guy Wants an Amazon: After the President reacts somewhat indifferently to seeing her without a top on (covered only by a strategically placed towel) in her private events in Survivor 2, she comes to the conclusion that this must be the reason and resolves to become so fine a lady that it'll surprise even him.
- The Rival: To Beauty Ichigaya
- Rose-Haired Girl
- Seashell Bra: Plays around with a makeshift one during her vacation scene in Survivor.
- Sobriquet: She's got a lot of these, including "Blazing Queen", "Unrivaled Goddess", "The Perfect Ace", and "Blazing Warrior"
- Spirited Competitor
- To Be a Master
- Trademark Favorite Food: Curry. So much so that every other post from her Twitter bot is musings about what kinds of curry she's eating, eaten, or wants to eat.
Mimi Yoshihara (Real name: Izumi Yoshihara)
Voiced by: Mariko Onodera (Double Impact), Satsuki Yukino (Survivor 1 & 2)
- Arrogant Kung Fu Girl: A tiny bit. She challenged Panther Risako with the intent of showing off how much more powerful than a pro wrestler a karateka is. However, she lost, and...
- Boobs of Steel
- Cool Big Sis
- Defeat Means Friendship: ...Instead fell in love with wrestling.
- Expository Hairstyle Change: In Survivor, she has new design her hair to a short bob.
- Expy: Mimi Hagiwara & Yoshiaki Fujiwara
- Finishing Move: Face Lock, Dragon Sleeper
- Lap Pillow: Does this for the President in her private events in Survivor 2, the twist here being that it comes about as a result of her accidentally knocking him out while practicing her submission moves on him.
- Sobriquet: "Submission Wizard"
- Ten-Minute Retirement: Retired between 1/V1 and 2/V2, but can be convinced to return to active duty in 3/Super/DI.
- The Rival: To Panther Risako and Akiko Saitou.
- Who Wears Short Shorts?: Her Survivor redesign.
Bomber Kishima (Real name: Eri Kishima)
Voiced by: Rica Matsumoto (Double Impact), Makoto Tsumura (1995 Fandisc), Kumiko Watanabe (1996 Drama CD), Junko Noda (Survivor 1 & 2)
- Amazonian Beauty: Always intended to be one, but her character design didn't really start showing elements of it until V1.
- Bash Sisters: With Yukiko.
- The Big Guy: Of the rebel stable started by Yukiko in V1.
- The Lancer: To Yukiko in general.
- Boisterous Bruiser
- Expy: Lioness Asuka & Seiji Sakaguchi.
- Finishing Move: Napalm Lariat
- Japanese Pronouns: "Ore"
- Smashing Watermelons: In her vacation scene in Survivor.
- Sobriquet: "Miss Big Bang"
- Statuesque Stunner: At around 170cm tall, she's one of the tallest members of the Japanese cast, mostly only losing out in terms of height to the international wrestlers.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: In the V series. It's lavender everywhere else.
Hikaru Ijuuin
Voiced by: Yumi Touma (Double Impact) Natsumi Yanase (1995 Fandisc, credited as "Hiromi Yanase")
- Black Bra and Panties: In her magazine photo shoot CG in 3.
- Eyes Always Shut: She only opens them in her "hurt" portrait and humiliation CG in the first game, and her regular portraits in Super, Double Impact, and Bishoujo Wrestler Retsuden.
- Expy: Yukari Omori & Noriyo Tateno
- Finishing Move: Piledriver, Powerslam
- Mighty Glacier: In most games she appears in, she has below average starting stats in mobility and acrobatic technique; while possessing frightfully high marks in power, striking, and HP.
- Nice Girl: Exudes a calm, gentle aura that helps her get along with everybody.
- Odd Friendship: Is friends with Beauty Ichigaya despite being her near-complete opposite in terms of personality and outlook.
- Ojou: Of the first type
- Onee-Sama: Plays this role to her Kouhai Yukiko, Bomber, Haruka, and Kayo in V1.
- Perpetual Smiler
- Rose-Haired Girl
Toshimi Minami/Hybird Minami
Voiced by: Aya Hisakawa (Double Impact) Akiko Hiramatsu (1996 Drama CD), Miyuki Sawashiro (Survivor 1 & 2)
- Biker Babe: She's frequently recruited while out riding her sport bike.
- Defeat Means Friendship: Came to challenge SNJ members out of pure curiosity and wound up enrolling as a member herself after losing to Yukiko.
- Expy: Masanobu Fuchi & Masahiro Chouno
- Finishing Move: Face Lock, Chicken Wing Face Lock, Southern Cross Armlock (Chicken Wing Armlock), Neo Southern Cross Lock (STF)
- Ice Queen: Default state, can be made into a Defrosting Ice Queen bordering on type B Tsundere in Survivor.
- The Lancer / The Smart Guy: Of Yukiko's rebellious Power Stable in V1. Later resumes both roles towards Haruka Date as part of the WOLF organization in V3.
- Nerves of Steel
- Sobriquet: "The Venus of Submission"
- Spirited Competitor: Though it's hard to tell under her steely calm.
- Tall, Dark and Bishoujo
- Wild Card: She tends to do things on a whim. Her joining up with SNJ, becoming part of the above-mentioned Power Stable, and later joining up with WOLF can all be attributed to this.
Teddy-Cat Hori (Real name: Sakie Hori)
Voiced by: Hiromi Tsuru (Double Impact) Mariko Onodera (1995 Fandisc), Kumiko Nishihara (1996 Drama CD), Akemi Kanda (Survivor 1 & 2)
- Badass Adorable
- But Not Too Foreign: Half-American on her mother's side.
- Catgirl: Kind of. Her love of cats extended to her in-ring mannerisms and speech starting in V1.
- Expy: Jumbo Hori
- Finishing Move: Back Drop
- Happily Married: Retired after the first game to get married, though she can be convinced to come back from 3 on.
- Hot Mom: Has a single child in 3, though this fact, like her marriage, isn't brought up very often in game and was quietly dropped for Survivor.
- Kindhearted Cat Lover: To the point that her love of cats influenced her choice of ring name.
- Master of None: In the very first game, her stats were completely average or below average across the board. In a game whose battle system revolves around picking at an opponent's weaknesses, a lack of advantages is a big disadvantage.
- Rose-Haired Girl: Except in V1, where she's depicted with red hair.
- Verbal Tic: "-nya", starting in V1.
Hitomi Fujishima/Honeybee Fujishima
Voiced by: Hiromi Yanase (Double Impact) Natsuko Kuwatani (Survivor 1 & 2)
- Brilliant but Lazy: She has the potential for awesomeness, but as demonstrated in V1, she hates training and thus begins nearly every game in the lower Character Tiers.
- The Cutie
- Finishing Move: Flying Kneel Kick
- Idol Wrestler: The first of many in the series.
- Magikarp Power: While every character has a bit of this going on, Hitomi's low-ish starting stats coupled with how relatively easy said stats are to raise to high levels makes her a standout example.
- Pimped-Out Dress: The fancy kimono she wears as her entrance attire. It apparently cost several million yen.
- Sobriquet: "The Invincible Idol"
- Ten-Minute Retirement: Left wrestling to pursue a career as a television personality due to the rise in popularity of her kouhai Cutey Kanai. She can be convinced to return from 3 on.
Riyu Kikuchi/Aerial Kikuchi
Voiced by: Yumi Touma (Double Impact), Yuri Shiratori (1996 Drama CD), Nana Mizuki (Survivor 1 & 2)
- Badass Adorable
- The Chick: Of Yukiko's Power Stable in V1.
- Determinator
- Expy: Tsuyoshi Kikuchi
- Finishing Move: DDT, Frankensteiner, Diving Headbutt
- Hachimaki: Her trademark Charm Point. Her second private event in Survivor has her dragging the President out to buy her a new one while mumbling to herself about how having one he bought her would inspire her to fight even harder.
- Sempai Kouhai: The first character to treat Yukiko as her sempai. Starting in V1, this aspect begins to tinge her character with shades of Fan Girl and Les Yay.
- Sobriquet: "Kamikaze Fighter"
- You Gotta Have Green Hair
Beauty Ichigaya (Real name: Reika Ichigaya[1])
Voiced by: Shiho Niiyama (Double Impact, 1995 Fandisc), Yumi Takada (1996 Drama CD), Michiko Neya (Survivor), Chiaki Takahashi (Survivor 2)
- Attention Whore
- Blondes Are Jerks
- Boobs of Steel: Has a bust that won't lose out to the international characters, and is also one of the physically strongest out of the entire cast.
- Expy: Jumbo Tsuruta and Naoya Ogawa.
- Fake Boss: In 1, V1, and Bishoujo Wrestler Retsuden.
- The Fighting Narcissist: It's rather telling that she chose her own ringname.
- Final Boss: Alongside Jena Megalight in 2 and V2.
- Finishing Move: Beauty Bomb (Powerbomb)
- Genius Ditz: She can be incredibly spacy due to her Upper Class Twit tendencies, but not only is she a top class wrestler and a former world judo champion, but she also has enough business sense to run her own wrestling promotion (if only for a short while).
- It's All About Me
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She may be stuck up, selfish, and an airhead, but she's fiercely protective of those she calls her own.
- Mad Libs Catchphrase: "...My [extremely exaggerated number of] fans across the nation!"
- Noblewoman's Laugh: She absolutely loves making use of this.
- Ojou: Second type. So very, very much. She also has a bit of Upper Class Twit in her.
- Princess Curls
- Rich Bitch
- The Rival: To Yukiko.
- Sobriquet: "The World's Most Stuck Up Woman"
- Start My Own: Attempted to start her own promotion, JWI[2] in 2 and V2, taking a large number of SJW wrestlers with her. Although the chosen protagonist may choose to side with her, the group eventually crumbles, causing Beauty's Ten-Minute Retirement.
- Statuesque Stunner: 5cm taller than Bomber Kishima, making her routinely the tallest competitor amongst the Japanese cast.
- Ten-Minute Retirement: After losing a decisive bout to Yukiko which ensured the closure of JWI, Beauty announces her retirement... Only to secretly run off to America and team up with Jena Megalight in order to build up for her eventual return to Japan.
- Training from Hell: Absolutely loves dishing this out to any girl unfortunate to be her kouhai. Examples are seen in V2, where she does this to the protagonist should she choose to join JWI, and V3, where she takes Satomi Kojima under her wing.
Panther Risako (Real name: Risako Sakuma)
Voiced by: Yuka Koyama (Double Impact), Emi Shinohara (1996 Drama CD, Survivor 1 & 2)
- Breakup Breakout: Subverted in that while Risako became more famous after her falling out with Blade Uehara, both women still have a large number of successes and command great respect amongst their peers.
- Expy: Jaguar Yokota & Akira Maeda
- Finishing Move: Capture Suplex
- Heroic BSOD: Suffers a minor one after causing Dragon Fujiko's Game-Breaking Injury in V1. Although she continues to wrestle, she holds back out of fear of the same thing happening again. This causes her longtime friend Blade Uehara to bail on her and Yukiko to start up her Power Stable in hopes of forcing Risako to get out of her funk.
- Lady of War
- Meganekko: In her Office Lady garb.
- Onee-Sama: Her general character type. Is also treated as one by nearly the entire Japanese cast.
- Sobriquet: "Queen of the Ring"
- Statuesque Stunner: Comes in between Beauty and Bomber at 172cm.
- Ten-Minute Retirement: Actually went through with this following Yukiko's capture of the world championship, taking up a desk job at SNJ, as well as serving as a Combat Commentator. As with other such retirements, she can be brought back starting in 3.
- Wet Shirt Scene: In her private events in Survivor 2.
- You Gotta Have Purple Hair
Pink Pirates (Pink Pirates #1 & #2)
- Finishing Move: Foreign Object Attack
- Masked Luchadoras
- Mooks: Effectively their purpose in their only appearance. They serve as lower level members of elimination match teams and as the earliest opponents during the tag tournament chapter.
- Palette Swap: Both are essentially identical in terms of stats and moveset. The only thing differentiating them from each other are the numbers on their masks, and that #1's color scheme is pink with gold trim while #2's is pink with turquoise trim.
Despina Libre (Real name: Toscana Libre)
Voiced by: Miki Fukui (Survivor), Mariko Tonomura (Survivor 2)
- Expy: Perro Aguayo & Negro Casas
- Finishing Move: Moonsault Press, DDT, Frankensteiner, Flying Body Press
- Fragile Speedster
- The Generic Girl: Doesn't stand out much compared to most of the cast.
- Sobriquet: "Mexican Princess"
- Spicy Latina
Chocho Caras/Hisas Caras
Voiced by: Miho Saiki (Survivor 1 & 2)
- Expy: Dos Caras & El Canek
- Finishing Move: Backdrop Hold, Moonsault Press
- Fragile Speedster
- Hair of Gold
- Lady of War
- Masked Luchadora
- Sobriquet: "Masked Lady", "The Queen of Lucha"
- Statuesque Stunner
Blade Uehara/Em Sando (Real name: Kyouko Uehara)
Voiced by: Kazumi Okushima (Double Impact), Naomi Shindo (Survivor 1 & 2)
- Big Ol' Eyebrows: Starting in V1
- Charlie Brown From Outta Town: Em Sando. Subverted a little bit in that she took up the mask and name in a completely different country.
- Civil War: Minor version. Blade starts one with Beauty Ichigaya over their differing ideas on how JWI should be run in V2. The player can choose which one to side with, but in the end, Beauty defeats her in their decisive bout and Blade is sent packing.
- Expy: Devil Masami, Masa Saitou, & El Santo
- Finishing Move: Frankensteiner, Hurracanrana, Shooting Star Press
- The Garfunkel: Minor version. While she isn't quite as famous or respected as Risako, she still has dedicated fans and is recognized as a greatly talented wrestler in her own right. Her private events in Survivor 2 reveal that she still has a bit of an inferiority complex and wonders every day whether or not she still has what it takes to compete, with both her opponents in general and Risako in particular.
- Hidden Character: In the first game. After defeating her at the end of chapter 2, she offers to join the player's stable. However, in order to add her to the team, the player must discard one of his current members.
- Loser Leaves Town: How she saw her confrontation with Risako. Thus, she exiled herself to Mexico and took up the Em Sando persona.
- The Obi-Wan: To Harumi Ootaka, Reiko Kanamori, Matsuri Atono, and Mami Sawanobori in Special.
- Orekko
- Paper-Thin Disguise: Zigzagged. Her Reveal as being a Japanese wrestler and Risako's former partner was a genuinely surprising Plot Twist in the first game. When the story was revisited in V1 and Bishoujo Wrestler Retsuden, the addition of a mask does very little to fool the player, as she still wears the same costumes as her unmasked persona.
- Sobriquet: "Okinawan Eagle", "Aerial Artist", "God's Messenger"[3]
- Start My Own: Started up the minor league promotion Pacific Ocean Women's Pro Wrestling[4] following the events of 2/V2, but the group couldn't compete with SNJ and eventually folded, leaving Blade as a free agent.
- Who Wears Short Shorts?: As part of her Survior redesign.
Milia Meyers
- Eagle Land
- Finishing Move: STF, Dragon Sleeper
- The Generic Girl: Stands out even less than Despina.
- Spell My Name with an "S": Her name is given in Bishoujo Wrestler Retsuden as "Miria Mears". Another popular romanization is "Millia Mayers".
Dynamite Rin/Dynamite Lisa
Voiced by: Yui Kano (Survivor 1 & 2)
- Canada, Eh?
- Deadpan Snarker
- Expy: Danny Spivey.
- Finishing Move: Dynamite Spike (DDT)
- Giving Someone the Pointer Finger: Her winpose in Bishoujo Wrestler Retsuden.
- Glass Cannon: Extremely powerful, but can't take hits very well.
- Hair Decorations: Uses a ribbon tied into a large bow to tie her ponytail.
- Sobriquet: "Bomb Girl"
- Spell My Name with an "S": Her name has been alternatively spelled "Rinn, Lin, Linn, and Lynn". Her profiles on the websites of both Survivor games use "Rin".
- Stripperiffic: Her outfits in the V-series and Survivor 2.
- You Gotta Have Purple Hair
Bunny Bomber/Honey Bomber
Voiced by: Michiko Kawana (Survivor 2)
- Buxom Is Better
- Eagle Land: Specifically, California.
- Finishing Move: Moonsault Press
- Gag Boobs: In Survivor 2. One of her still images has her breasts bounce in opposite directions!
- Idol Wrestler: As to be expected of a former model.
- Rose-Haired Girl
- Sobriquet: "World's Strongest Bunny"
- Playboy Bunny
- Stripperiffic: She's practically spilling out of her costume in Survivor 2!
- The Unexpected: Only appeared in 1 and Bishoujo Wrestler Retsudan, without even putting in an appearance in V1 like most of the other Americans from that period. Flash forward to 2008 and she suddenly returns in Survivor 2!
Kunoichi Master
- Finishing Move: German Suplex
- Ninja: Possibly a McNinja.
- Parts Unknown: Her nationality is given as "unknown".
- The Voiceless: Said absolutely nothing in 1. She was later Suddenly Voiced (so to speak) in Bishoujo Wrestler Retsudan.
Remy Dadarne/Rumy Dadarne
Voiced by: Haruka Nakanishi (Survivor), Saki Yasuda (Survivor 2)
- Amazonian Beauty
- Boobs of Steel: Though they border on looking like Gag Boobs in the V-series...
- Canada, Eh?: Stated to be from Toronto in earlier games, she was retconned into being from South Dakota in Survivor.
- Catch Phrase: "MAXIMUM!"
- Expy: Reggie Bennett
- Finishing Move: Powerslam, Lariat, Splash Mountain
- Girlish Pigtails: In 1 and the Survivor games.
- Hair Colors: Went from pale green (1) to indigo (Bishoujo Wrestler Retsuden), to green (Double Impact, V-series), to blonde (Survivor series).
- Mighty Glacier
- Nice Hat: Wears a hard hat during her entrances as a nod to Bennett's most famous Memetic Outfit.
- Sobriquet: "The Iron Axe"
- Statuesque Stunner: 177cm tall.
Darkstar Chaos/Super Chaos
Voiced by: Yuka Koyama (Double Impact), Yuka Takamatsu (Survivor), Natsuki Dai (Survivor 2)
- Amazonian Beauty: She's got the physique, and the few games where her mask has been removed reveal her to be very easy on the eyes.
- Expy: Big Van Vader (Although her various costumes tend to evoke an evil version of Juushin Thunder Liger)
- Final Boss: Of 1, Bishoujo Wrestler Retsuden, and V1.
- Finishing Move: High Mega Bomb (Powerbomb), Darkstar Hammer (Lariat)
- Lightning Bruiser
- Masked Heel
- Parts Unknown
- Recurring Boss: Though a couple of stronger opponents have appeared throughout the series, Darkstar always remains a serious obstacle to reaching the top, generally holding the title belt of the second best foreign organization.
- Sobriquet: "The Chaotic Flower of Evil"
- Statuesque Stunner: 177cm.
