Kid Icarus: Uprising/Trivia

• All-Star Cast: Kind of. In comparison to Nintendo's usual usage of mostly-unknown voice actors, Uprising has quite a few recognizable names in voice acting, such as Ali Hillis and Cree Summer.
• Ascended Fanon:
  • The orginal had an infamous translation error of spelling "Hydra" as "Hewdraw". Rather than correcting it for future games, the name stuck when the Hydra returned in Uprising, now a Quintessential British Gentleman (or at least one of his heads is), for some reason.
  • This seems to be all over the place. Thanatos was originally labeled as "Tanatos" in the manual for the first game. They refer to him as this throughout his level, up until he corrects everyone saying he added the H. Because it sounds "Hamaaaaaazing!".^[1]
  • Strictly speaking, along with "Tanatos", "Palutena" was actually another romanization error made when the original game was released. Her name is really supposed to be "Parthena", but the former spelling has come to be recognized by Nintendo as the official romanization of her name, as evidenced by its use in this game.
• Casting Gag: In the Japanese version, Minami Takayama (Pit) and Aya Hisakawa (Palutena) worked in titles who resemble somewhat the characters they're portraying in this game: Takayama voiced Emilio Mikhailov, a Russian boy with angel wings and holy powers and Hisakawa voiced Skuld, another, more younger, goddess.
• Fan Nickname:
  • For whatever reason, the fanbase seems to have named Pit's dark Fallen Angel Palette Swap from Brawl "Kuro", which is a Japanese word for the color black. Might it also be because it sounds like Crow?
  • Trolltena stems from how much Palutena loves to tease Pit non-stop.
• Hey, It's That Voice!:
  • In the Japanese version of Kid Icarus: Uprising, Minami Takayama reprises her role as Pit from SSBB while Palutena is voiced by Aya Hisakawa. Meanwhile, Medusa is voiced by Naomi Shindo.
  • Ali Hillis (A.K.A. Lightning and Karin) voices Palutena in the English version.
  • Pit is voiced by Antony Del Rio A.K.A. Chico and Young Kratos. The second one is particularly amusing because of the obvious. Amusingly, people presumed for a great deal of time Johnny Yong Bosch was Pit's voice actor due to similarities, even after he denied it at an anime convention when questioned.
    • Likewise, some fans believed Dark Pit (also Del Rio) was Dante Basco at first, as he sounds a lot like Zuko.
  • Magnus and Poseidon are voiced by Fred Tatasciore.
  • Thanatos and the Hewdraw heads are voiced by Danny Mann, who had a minor role as Construction Worker Steve, as well as the Mad Thinker, not to mention many other roles.
    • He also played a flying squirrel. And what was his name? Icarus.
  • After a bit of speculation, Cree Summer was revealed to be Medusa in her eponymous short by Studio 4°C.
  • Pandora is voiced by Nika Futterman, who voiced Asajj Ventress, Adam Lyon and... Chum-Chum.
  • Kari Wahlgren voices Dark Lord Gaol and Phosphora.
  • Viridi, the Goddess of Nature, is voiced by Hynden Walch, whose voice acting credits span quite a few mediums. Ironically, she plays a Psychopathic Manchild here.
    • In Japan, she's voiced, by Makiko Ohmoto a.k.a. Kirby. Considering this is a Masahiro Sakurai game, it's a bit of an odd Actor Allusion, to say the least.
      • Then you notice there's a huge contrast between Kirby and Viridi.
  • Dyntos and the Chariot Master are voiced by Alan Oppenheimer, who voiced Skeletor (in the original 1980s version), Falkor, Norman Burg and most recently, the Scientist.
  • Arlon and Pyrrhon are voiced by Troy Baker.
  • Hades is voiced by Scott Bullock.
• Killer App: Uprising is undisputably one of these for the Nintendo 3DS.
• Relationship Voice Actor: Considering that Scott Bullock had previously voiced Barthandelus, this isn't the first time he's voiced the Big Bad opposing Ali Hillis.
• Talking to Himself: Pit and Dark Pit are both voiced by Antony Del Rio. He did such a good job that before the voice cast was released, many people thought that Dark Pit was done by a different actor.
• Urban Legend of Zelda: Donating Hearts to the Offering screen. These do absolutely nothing to help your game (which the game reminds you of each time you visit the screen), but rumors have arisen.
