History

Yelta Aboriginal Mission (1854-?) was established by the Church of England [3][4][5] on the banks of the Murray River[6] Local aboriginal people called a small billabong near the site of the mission, Yelta.

Military History

During World War 2, Yelta was the location of RAAF No.29 Inland Aircraft Fuel Depot (IAFD), completed in 1942 and closed on 14 June 1944. Usually consisting of 4 tanks, 31 fuel depots were built across Australia for the storage and supply of aircraft fuel for the RAAF and the US Army Air Forces at a total cost of £900,000 ($1,800,000).[7]

gollark: I should see if I can make osmarks.net support QUIC.
gollark: Hmm, troubling, I'm not sure if QUIC supports unreliable packets too. I guess you can just send those as plain UDP.
gollark: Byzantine_generals_problem_irl.
gollark: QUIC is very widely used in web browsers so it *is* supported on Windows.
gollark: QUIC runs over UDP and supports multiple independent data streams also.
