Yangan, Queensland
Yangan is a rural town and locality in the Southern Downs Region, Queensland, Australia.[2][3] In the 2016 census, Yangan had a population of 386 people.[1]

Geography
The locality is traversed by Swan Creek, a tributary of the Condamine River. Sandstone is extracted from a quarry directly south of the town's centre from a property which fronts Swan Creek.
History
The name Yangan is reported to be an Aboriginal word meaning proceed or go away.[2]
Upper Swan Creek Provisional School opened on 27 May 1874. Opened in 1874 as it is likely that it was proclaimed a state school shortly afterwards. In 1887 it became Yangan State School.[4]

- 36 King Street: Yangan Masonic Hall[6]
Amenities
The Southern Downs Regional Council operates a mobile library service which visits Yangan Park in King Street.[7]
Education
Yangan State School is a government primary (Prep-6) school for boys and girls at King Street (28.1976°S 152.2155°E).[8][9] In 2017, the school had an enrolment of 90 students with 7 teachers (6 full-time equivalent) and 7 non-teaching staff (4 full-time equivalent).[10]
