History
The first stores opened at the mall were Dillard's, Gayfers, and Goody's, all of which opened in October 1994. McRae's and JCPenney were added in 1995.[2] By 1999, Turtle Creek Mall was at 100 percent capacity.[3]
The Gayfers was later converted to a second McRae's location when Gayfers was bought out by Dillard's in 1998.[4] Both were acquired by Belk in 2006, which closed the store in the former McRae's in 2010 and consolidated all operations into the former Gayfers.[5] Goody's closed in 2009 and became Stein Mart in 2011.[6]
On May 31, 2018, it was announced that Sears would be closing as part of a plan to close 72 stores nationwide. The store closed in September 2018.[7]
On August 12, 2020, Stein Mart filed for bankruptcy and announced that all of its stores in the U.S. were closing, including its Turtle Creek Mall location.[8]
