Overview
This station is the representative station of Kasama City, the central station of (former) Tomobe Town and the nearest station to the Kasama City Hall main government building.
Lines
Tomobe Station is served by the Jōban Line, and is located 98.8 km from the official starting point of the line at Nippori Station. It is also the official terminus of the 50.2 km Mito Line.
Station layout
Tomobe Station has one side platform and two island platforms, connected to the station building by an overhead passageway. The station has a Midori no Madoguchi ticket office.

Operation form at this station
- This station is served by two Joban and Mito lines. Of these, the Joban Line belongs to the line, and the Mito Line ends at this station. Both routes are also a section of JR Freight Type II railway business.
- The station north of Tsuchiura Station on the Joban Line is one of the main stations where express trains stop alongside Ishioka Station.
- All the "Tokiwa" trains on the Joban Line stop at this station. Except during the day, Mito line trains operate directly to Mito/ Katsuta on the Joban line.
- Joban Line up (for Ishioka, Tsuchiura, Toride & Ueno )
- During the daytime, two regular trains and one limited express train stop every hour, making it possible to access Tokyo and Shinagawa without having to transfer mainly to limited express trains .
- Joban Line down (for Mito & Katsuta)
- Approximately two regular trains and one limited express train stop every hour. In the morning and evening, a direct train from the Mito Line is also added .
- Mito Line going up (Kasama, Shimodate, Oyama area)
- During the day, an ordinary train runs approximately once an hour from the station. In the morning and evening, a direct train from the Joban Line (from Mito) can also be used [3].
History
Tomobe Station was opened on 1 January 1895. The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of the Japanese National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987. A new station building was completed in 2007.
