Tanjong Pagar Single Member Constituency
Tanjong Pagar Single Member Constituency (Traditional Chinese: 丹戎巴葛單選區; Simplified Chinese: 丹戎巴葛单选区) was a former single-member constituency in Tanjong Pagar, Singapore from 1955 to 1991 and absorbed into Tanjong Pagar GRC. It was one of the longest-surviving wards since the pre-independence era, and has been a People's Action Party stronghold.
Its sole MP in its single-member incarnation was Lee Kuan Yew, the long-serving Prime Minister of Singapore. As the member for Tanjong Pagar, he triumphed over his political opponents by wide margins—on some occasions, with well over 80 percent of the vote.
Lee Kuan Yew was the longest serving Member of Parliament (MP) and politician, having served from 1955 until his death on 23 March 2015.
