History

It was founded in 2015 for the 2015 Piala Jenderal Sudirman, comprising players from PSMS Medan and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).[4] In March 2016, PS TNI appointed their first coach, Englishman Judan Ali and acquired Persiram Raja Ampat for a cost of 17 billion rupiah.[5]

After the Jenderal Sudirman Cup, it was announced that the club and PSMS Medan had parted ways.[6]

For the 2018 season the army side PS TNI were renamed as PS TIRA (or PS TNI dan Rakyat, meaning Football Association of Indonesian Army and People) and moved to Bantul. [7][8] The team finished 2018 Liga 1 in 15th position and escaped relegation after securing a vital 3-1 win against Borneo F.C. in the last match of the season.[9] PS TIRA later merged with Liga 3 club Persikabo Bogor in early 2019 to form TIRA-Persikabo (TIRA-Kabo).[10]

TIRA-Persikabo were then renamed to Persikabo 1973 since 2020.[11] But they still using the name TIRA-Persikabo and same logo for domestic competitions in 2020 season because these changes have not been approved by the federation through congress.[12]
