History
The station opened in 1836 by the Clarence Railway at the junction between its two eastern branches to Port Clarence and North Shore Staithes. The station was poorly located for the village of Norton and so it closed to both passengers and goods traffic in 1877 by the North Eastern Railway to be replaced by Norton-on-Tees station, a short distance to the east along the Port Clarence branch.[1]

gollark: I don't think much can practically be done at this point outside of just trying to bodge the climate into sort of working via geoengineering of some kind.
gollark: Don't blame *capitalism* for people being non-long-term.
gollark: You also seem to have said that how stars work is unknown?
