Miss Universe Philippines 2020
Miss Universe Philippines 2020 will be the 1st edition of the Miss Universe Philippines competition, under its new organization.[1] It was scheduled to be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines.[2]

The coronation night was initially scheduled for May 3, 2020. However due to the coronavirus pandemic, it has been moved at least twice; first to June 14, 2020.[3] and later to October 25, 2020.[4] Due to the pandemic, it is yet to be confirmed if the coronation night will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena as originally planned.[5]
Gazini Ganados of Talisay, Cebu will crown her successor at the end of the event. The winner will represent the Philippines in Miss Universe 2020.[3]

Background
The new Miss Universe Philippines franchise was awarded to Shamcey Supsup, national director; the new organization will hold the first edition of the competition on Sunday October 25, 2020.[6][7]
Selection of participants
On December 2019, the organization launched its search for the next Filipina who will represent the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2020 competition.[8][1][9][10] On 14 February 2020, the 52 contestants of Miss Universe Philippines 2020 were presented. On 28 February 2020, it was confirmed that Negros Occidental will be withdrawing at the pageant due to she want to focus on her study first.
Curtailment due to COVID-19 pandemic
The procedures for the organization of the pageant was curtailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Miss Universe Philippines organization released new guidelines entitled "2020 Pageant Way Forward".[5]
Contestants will be divided into smaller groups for the preliminaries which involve the swimsuit and evening gown competition. All will wear masks except their individual turns on the competition stage and each contestant will be obligated to go home after their respective turn.[5]
For the finals night, under the assumption that the pageant will be held in a large venue. There will be no live audience allowed. The MUP organization projects less than 100 people will be needed, including the contestants, judges, and production team with social distancing implemented. Most production materials for the pageant will be pre-taped. The finals night will be made available to the public online via pay-for-view streaming.[5]
