The title of "Stormy Monday" was taken from the first track of Lee Michaels' self-titled album, due to the organ sound of the track. "Shin Kawasaki" was inspired by the industrial landscape of Shin-Kawasaki, as seen from the Yokosuka Line. The drum loop was sampled from Terry Bozzio's drum solo on "Hands with a Hammer" from Frank Zappa's You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore, Vol. 3. The same loop is also used on "Bozzio" on the Last of Analog Sessions box set. The use of the Roland TR-606 drum machine and Bias EXD drum synth give the track an early 1980s techno pop sound.[2]

gollark: What if we rename money to, say, frogcats?
gollark: Central planning *does not work*, because there are millions of people in a country with complex preferences, and a very complex interplay of production processes which need things from other processes to make different things.
gollark: I'm not suggesting we go for anarchocapitalism, just *not* some centrally planned system.
gollark: Or do Mars things.
gollark: Who want to go to Mars?
