List of Indian Academy Award winners and nominees
This is the list of Indians who are Academy Award (informally known as the Oscars) winners and nominees. As of 2016, eleven Indians have been nominated for a total of fourteen Oscars, six of whom have won seven Oscars. Four have been nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
Satyajit Ray is the only Indian who has received an Honorary Academy Award, and A. R. Rahman is the only Indian who has won more than one Academy Award in 2009. In 1982, The National Film Development Corporation of India was instrumental in co-producing Richard Attenborough's Academy Award for Best Picture winning film Gandhi.[1][2]
