24 July 2015  Italy Modugno 7 0 A large explosion, which triggers other explosions and a fire which threatens a nearby forest at a fireworks factory in southeastern Italy Modugno, Metropolitan City of Bari, Apulia Region kills 7 people and injures several more, some seriously. Emergency vehicles were on the scene and the cause is being investigated; it is the peak season for fireworks in Italy because of the summer festivals there.[10]
12 August 2015  China Tianjin 173 798 2015 Tianjin explosions - At least 173 people were killed and another 798 were injured in the explosions.[11]
25 August 2015  Afghanistan Herat 11 18 A gas explosion in the Afghanistan city of Herat kills eleven people and injures 18 others.[12]
31 August 2015  China Dongying 13 25 A chemical plant owned by the Shandong Binyuan Chemical Company explodes in the Chinese city of Dongying in the coastal Shandong province, killing at least one person with the extent of other injuries unknown.[13]

13 September 2015  Pakistan Multan 11 79 An explosion in the Pakistan city of Multan kills at least eleven people and injures 79.[14]
18 November 2015  United Kingdom Cardiff 2 5 An explosion at a steelworks plant in Cardiff, South Wales, leaves two people dead and five injured.[15] On October 4, 2019 the Cardiff Crown Court heard testimony stating that a safety mechanism failed to shut down a heater which got too hot and then exploded. The court was told the workers were probably unaware the oil levels in the tank had dropped below the minimum safety level as the oil heater, which was still switched on, would have turned off but for an electrical failure. Celsa steelworks was fined £1.8m after the explosion which killed the two men. [16]
16 January 2016  Italy Arnasco 5 A suspected gas explosion in the Italian town of Arnasco kills at least five people.[17]
7 February 2016  United States Georgia 1 6 One person is killed and six others injured in an explosion at JCG Farms, an American feed mill near Atlanta, Georgia.[18] OSHA determined that excessive accumulation of grain dust in the hammer mill area ignited the fatal explosion. “It is tragic that despite wide industry awareness of these hazards, that some employers remain unaware of the common hazards of combustible dust,” Christi Griffin, OSHA’s area director in the Atlanta-West Office, said in the statement. “This incident and this man’s death were preventable. JCG Farms needs to...assess the workplace for hazards and correct them to ensure worker safety.” [19]

20 April 2016  Mexico Coatzacoalcos 24 136 At least 24 people are killed, 136 others injured, and eight workers still missing from a blast at the major Clorados 3 petrochemical plant of Petroquimica Mexicana de Vinilo. Nineteen people remain hospitalized, with 13 in serious condition.[20]
1 June 2016  South Korea Seoul 4 10 A gas explosion at a subway construction site near the South Korean capital Seoul kills four workers and injures ten more.[21]
28 June 2016  Canada Mississauga 2 13 A huge explosion completely destroys a house and damages 24 others in Mississauga, Canada. At least one person is dead and 13 others are injured, according to Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services. Thousands of residents are forced to evacuate and many spend the night at a local community shelter.[22][23] In December 30, 2016 Peel Regional Police concluded the incident was a double suicide [24]
1 July 2016  Hungary 4 1 Four Hungarian Defence Force soldiers are killed and one is injured following an explosion at a military firing range in eastern Hungary.[25]
11 August 2016  United States Silver Spring 7 68 A gas building explosion at the Flower Branch Apartments, 8701 Arliss Street, in Silver Spring, Maryland. As a result of this accident, 7 residents died, and 65 residents and 3 firefighters were transported to the hospital.[26] The blast has displaced more than 90 residents. Fire and rescue responded to "a smell of gas" on July 25. The cause of the explosion is being investigated.[27][28] On April 2019 the NTSB found that the blast was caused by failure of an indoor mercury service regulator with an unconnected vent line that allowed natural gas into the meter room where it accumulated and ignited from an unknown ignition source.[26]
11 August 2016  China Dangyang 22 4 2016 Dangyang explosion - At least 21 people are killed and five are injured following an explosion at a power plant in the city of Dangyang, Hubei province in central China. The blast occurred around 3:20 p.m. local time, when a high-pressure steam pipe exploded, according to China's official Xinhua News Agency.[29]
26 August 2016  Belgium Chimay 1 4 An explosion at a sports centre in the Belgian town of Chimay kills one person and injures another four. A gas explosion is suspected to be the cause.[30]
10 September 2016  Bangladesh Dhaka 25 70 A boiler explodes causing a fire in a factory in the Bangladeshi city of Tongi killing at least 25 people and injures 70 others.[31]
11 September 2016  Benin Tori 8 0 At least 8 people die after an explosion occurred in Tori.[32]
4 October 2016  China Harbin 3 Unknown A series of explosions in an apartment building in Harbin, China, kills at least three people and injures dozens more.[33]
17 October 2016  Germany Ludwigshafen 2 6 An explosion and fire in Ludwigshafen, at the largest production site of BASF in Germany, kills at least two people and injures six more with two people still missing. BASF is the world's biggest chemical producer.[34]
23 October 2016  Japan Utsunomiya 1 2 Two explosions in a park in the Japanese city of Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture, kill at least one person and injure two others.[35]
23 October 2016  Russia Ryazan 3 13 A gas explosion in the Russian city of Ryazan kills at least 3 people and injures 13 others[36]
1 November 2016  Pakistan Gadani 14 59 At least 14 people are killed and 59 burned when a gas cylinder explosion aboard an oil tanker causes a major fire at the ship-breaking yard in Gadani in Pakistan's Balochistan Province. Dozens other workers remain missing as many injured are transferred to hospitals in nearby Karachi.[37][38]
6 November 2016  Russia Ivanovo 6 4 Explosion killed 6 people in Ivanovo a city in Russia.[39]
17 November 2016  Mozambique Caphiridzange 73 Unknown Caphiridzange explosion - At least 73 people have been killed and hundreds injured in a fuel tanker explosion in the town of Caphiridzange in Mozambique's Tete Province.[40]
10 December 2016  Bulgaria Hitrino 7 29 Hitrino train derailment - At least 7 people have been killed and 29 others are injured after an explosion caused by the derailment of a train carrying propane and butane in the Bulgarian village of Hitrino, near Shumen.[41]
11 December 2016  Kenya Nakuru County 42 50 2016 Naivasha Traffic Fireball - An oil tanker explodes on a main highway near Naivasha, Kenya, killing at least 42 people, according to the Kenya National Disaster Operation Centre.[42]
20 December 2016  Mexico Tultepec 39 Unknown 2016 San Pablito Market fireworks explosion - An explosion at a fireworks market in the city of Tultepec near Mexico City, kills at least 35 people and injures dozens. Pyrotechnics is a major industry in Tultepec.[43]
23 February 2017  Pakistan Lahore 10 31 2017 Lahore explosion - A blast left at least 10 people dead and another 30 were injured in Lahore.[44]
23 March 2017  Ukraine Balakliia 1 5 On 23 March 2017, 20,000 inhabitants of Balakliia were evacuated after a series of massive explosions erupted at a nearby arms depot of the Balakliya military installation, which stockpiles missile and artillery ammunition.[45] The disaster led to one civilian woman killed and five others injured.[46]
3 April 2017  United States St. Louis 3 4 A boiler explosion at a Missouri box company in St. Louis's historic Soulard neighborhood kills three people and injures four others.[47]

2 August 2017  United States Minneapolis 2 9 A gas explosion at Minnehaha Academy kills two and injures nine.[48]
6 August 2018  Italy Bologna 1 145 A fuel tanker explodes on the A14 motorway after colliding with a lorry near Bologna Airport in Italy, causing a section of the motorway to collapse. A person dies and 145 others are injured, at least 14 seriously.[49]
22 August 2018  Canada Kitchener 1 1 58 year old Edra Haan was killed and another man was injured in a house explosion in Kitchener.[50] It was later ruled a homicide the next day.[51]
3 September 2018  South Africa Cape Town 8 0 An explosion at a Rheinmetall munition depot near Cape Town, South Africa, kills at least eight people.[52]
10 September 2018  Nigeria Lafia 35 Unknown A gas depot explodes in Lafia, Nigeria, killing at least 35 people and leaving some burned beyond recognition.[53]
13 October 2018  Nigeria Aba 30 Unknown At least 30 people are killed when a pipeline caught fire and explodes in southeast Nigeria after a raid by suspected petrol thieves.[54]
16 November 2018  Zimbabwe Beitbridge 42 20 42 killed and 20 hospitalised by an explosion of a gas cylinder on a bus. [55]

14 June 2020  China Wenling 19 170 Wenling; Fuel tanker crashed and exploded, killing 19 and injuring over 170 people. Several building were severely damaged by the explosion.[61]
21 June 2020  Ukraine Kyiv 5 5 Gas explosion occurred in a 9-store house at the 6th floor. As a result, inter-floor ceilings of 4, 5, 6, 7 floors of the building were destroyed.[62] This happened due to negligent attitude during verification of gas counters.[63]
30 June 2020  Iran Tehran 19 6+ A Gas explosion severely damaged Sina At'har health center in Tehran killing 19 people and injuring at least 6.[64]
30 July 2020  Japan Kōriyama 1 19 Kōriyama explosion - Explosion killed one and another 19 were injured in Kōriyama a city in Fukushima Prefecture.[65]
3 August 2020  North Korea Hyesan 15 Unknown A gas explosion in Hyesan North Korea burned several house causing at least 10 other explosions and killing 15 people.[66]
4 August 2020  Lebanon Beirut 171 6,500 2020 Beirut explosions - Explosion damaged the port of Beirut, Lebanon causing 10-15 billion dollars in damages. The explosions killed at least 171 people and another 6,500 were injured, 300,000 people were also displaced.[67]
4 August 2020  China Xiantao 6 4 An explosion in the Chinese city of Xiantao in Hubei province killed 6 workers and injured 4 more at an organic silicon workshop.[68]
10 August 2020  United States Baltimore 2 7 A Gas explosion killed two people severely injured 7 other and completely destroyed an apartment block.[69]
