History

The northern nomads in the Central African Republic resented the central government and a rebel People's Army for the Restoration of the Republic and Democracy (PAPRD) was formed in the 1990s. Clashes between the rebels and the central government intensified,[2] and many people from Kabo and the surrounding area fled as refugees to Chad. However, in January 2008, PAPRD and the Central African Armed Forces (FACA) agreed on a ceasefire for the Kabo area, allowing many of the refugees to return.[3] On 19 December 2012 the city was captured by Séléka coalition.[4] As of 2020 it remains under control of ex-Séléka Central African Patriotic Movement.[5]

Notes

gollark: That seems like just "it's bad because it's something you don't consent to" and also "it's unpleasant", which is I think what we said.
gollark: The dictionary will probably define it recursively or in a somewhat unsatisfying way.
gollark: No idea, hard to define rigorously.
gollark: There, easy to do somewhat.
gollark: Approximately speaking, it's a signal of unhappiness/etc where the tear ducts something something tears and so tears emerge near your eyes.
